Chapter 25: Plan
Even though he hadn’t been officially registered in a major guild himself or even in the party, he was still with them, as a useless porter.
Because of that link, he had been legally permitted to follow them directly into active dungeons without facing any legal trouble from guilds.
However, now that Ran was dead and his entire squad had been thoroughly vaporized by him, Leon was back to square one.
He was completely alone again, stripped of his temporary pass and left without any legal connection to a registered party.
He could try applying for different guilds in the lower district, of course.
There were dozens of small factions always looking for extra meat shields to carry their heavy bags.
However, he already knew exactly how that desperate attempt would end before he even filled out a single application form.
Thanks to his father and his brother’s massive, overbearing influence in the player community, absolutely no guild in the entire region would dare take him in.
The smaller guilds were terrified of the consequences, completely unwilling to offend an elite, S-rank powerhouse like the Roaring Lions Guild over a trash player.
A single word from the Allistar family could completely ruin a small faction overnight, so they avoided Leon like a deadly plague.
He gnashed his teeth violently together, a deep, burning anger filling his chest as he thought back to the family that had cast him aside.
’Those bastards...’ Leon thought bitterly, his fists clenching so hard that his knuckles turned entirely white. ’They are still actively getting in my way even now, long after chasing me out of their sight.’
The realization of their lingering control didn’t break his spirit, though.
Instead, it only made the dark desire to completely tear down that massive guild burn even brighter and hotter deep within his soul.
He wanted to destroy their influence entirely, ensuring they could never dictate his life or anyone else’s ever again.
He slowed his walking pace, a new, practical realization suddenly flashing through his mind as he analyzed his situation logically.
’But then again...’ Leon thought, his expression softening into a calculating frown. ’Even if I actually was in a registered guild right now, and even if I had a regular party to explore with, I completely won’t be able to fight monsters freely alongside them.’
This major restriction was entirely due to the unique, absolute nature of his innate talent. His ability wasn’t something that could be easily hidden or brushed off as a simple stroke of good luck during a standard raid.
If word ever got out to the public that there was someone out there who could seamlessly transform every single one of their common drops into mythical, legendary treasures, the entire world would surely come for him. freewebnøvel.coɱ
The top-tier guilds, world governments, and hidden powerhouses would immediately hunt him down, capture him, and lock him away in a dark room to probably use as a permanent, legendary grade item generator for the rest of his life.
It was an incredibly annoying and frustrating reality to face, but the absolute only option he had left available for him now... was to illegally sneak his way into a dungeon.
He would have to bypass the system’s strict protocols entirely, and break the law just to get monster drops.
Leon chuckled lightly, a dark, completely fearless sound that echoed faintly in the empty alleyway. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
He shook his head slowly as he walked, a cynical smirk forming on his face as he thought, ’It’s not like I actually have anything left to lose anyway... as long as I can continue to get stronger, nothing else in this god-forsaken world matters.’
He had already hit the absolute rock bottom of society, living in a cramped room with no money to his name, so a criminal record meant absolutely nothing to him anymore.
Despite all the countless, rigid laws and strict guidelines established by the government and the top guilds, the one true rule that stood proudly on top of all others was sheer strength at the end of the day.
The system only respected raw power, and the citizens of this world were exactly the same.
He realized that he was only being restricted this much right now simply because he didn’t have enough physical strength to defend his own choices or protect his secrets.
With enough power at his disposal, the rigid rules of the world would be completely and utterly forced to bend at his individual will.
The authorities wouldn’t dare question his actions, the major guilds wouldn’t be able to blacklist him anymore, and he would truly stand supreme above everyone else!
Thinking of that magnificent, unstoppable future alone filled his entire chest with a deep, intoxicating surge of pure excitement.
His heart raced violently at the glorious prospect of turning the tables on his family and everyone who had ever looked down on him.
After walking for a few more minutes through the winding, dirty streets of the lower district, he finally arrived back at his landlord’s house.
The building was slightly larger than his own cramped, scanty room, but it still wore the heavy grime and dirt of the neighborhood.
He stepped up to the front entrance, raised his hand, and firmly rang the loud bell, waiting patiently on the concrete porch.
The heavy wooden door swung wide open, and the remarkably fat man stepped straight into the frame, wearing his worn-out brown hat.
The exact moment his small, greasy eyes processed Leon’s familiar face standing on his property, his already terrible mood got a thousand times worse than it was before.
His round, sweaty cheeks flushed a dark crimson as his explosive anger flared right back up to the surface.
"What the hell are you doing here?!" the fat man suddenly shouted at the top of his lungs, his booming voice vibrating violently through the doorway. "What on earth makes you think I ever want to see your pathetic face again?!"
The landlord didn’t even get the chance to finish his aggressive sentence or throw him off the property.
Before another insulting word could fly out of his wet mouth, Leon smoothly stretched his right hand out directly toward him, opening his palm to reveal exactly ten copper coins.
