Chapter 27: The Fate of Humanity

"Amon, I’ve been expecting you for a while now. Come in."

Amon hesitated for only an instant before entering into the office.

Instantly, he froze slightly seeing another young man inside.

The man had snow white hair that were short and vastly different from how amon’s silvery ow looked.

He had a warm, friendly smile on his face and his gaze seemed to hold a certain maturity that went far beyond his years.

"Greetings, sir." Amon quickly offered his greetings, "greetings Mr. Principal."

The principal was briefly panicked, "sorry sir, it seems he doesn’t recognise you."

’Doesn’t recognise you?’ amon was taken aback. Taking a closer look at the white haired man he still didnt recognise him.

The man smiled slightly, taking no offence in amon’s gesture.

"Jared." He lingered, letting his name digest, "president of humanity’s association."

"Pre... sident?" amon’s pupils shrank slightly.

Before he could reply he felt his perception distort slightly and a voice echoed in his mind bringing him from his thoughts.

"Amon, I’ve been expecting you for a while now. Come in."

"What?" amon was instantly confused.

Looking up he realised he was infront of the principal’s door.

"How?" amon muttered, his eyes widening in shock.

Shaking his head, he quickly recollected himself and entered inside the office.

Instantly, he froze once more, seeing the white haired man.

He smiled strangely. A smile that sent a chill down amon’s spine slightly.

"Amon, won’t you greet? Do you know who this is?" the principal cast a frown in amon’s direction not expecting such behavior from the normally, good mannered amon.

"Sorry—"

"Amon, I’ve been expecting you for a while now. Come in."

Amon was just about to complete his words when he glanced at the door and realised to his horror he was back in time.

’How is this possible?’ amon instantly broke out in cold sweat.

Thinking back to the two timelines, he quickly thought back to what he had done wrong and came up with an answer.

Taking a deep breath, he calmed the shock in his heart and opened the door. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

The moment he entered, amon quickly bowed politely in jared direction.

"Greetings, mr president."

Jared immeidately chuckled lightly, muttering under his breath, "it seems the third time’s the charm."

"What was that sir?" the principal asked, clearly not hearing what jared had said.

"Its nothing." Jared turned him off and offered amon a friendly smile, "it’s nice meeting you, Amon."

Amon dared not raise his head.

Was this the president of humanity?

Why was he so terrifying?

The ability to control time...

Amon’s heart was filled with terror at the thought. If jared left him stuck on the time loop he would never have been able to excape!

"You may raise your head." Jared nodded, pleased by amon’s demeanor.

Amon finally raised his gaze. Still, he dared not look in the president’s direction.

"Principal, why were you looking for me?" he turned to the principal and asked, choosing his words carefully so he dont start over the whole sequence from stratch again.

The principal cleared his throat the turned in jared’s direction.

"Actually..." he paused breifly before speaking after receiving anod from the president, "it’s the president that was looking for you."

"The president?" amon muttered curiously, shifting his attention entirely in jared’s direction.

Seeing the cautiousness amon displayed jared chukled and almost felt like laughing.

’I was just playing with the kid... why does he have to take things so seriously?’ he thought to himself.

Still, knowing the importance of the matter at hand, he cleared his throat and a solemn look appeared in his face.

"Amon." Jared’s voice was deep like rumbling thunder as he spoke.

"The reason I’m here for you is because you awakened an unranked talent."

Amon’s pupils trembled slightly which jared quickly caught.

Just moments ago, the vampire, isolde had bitten him and said it was because of his unranked talent taht she’d chosen him and now the principal was speaking about unranked talents.

’Damn... what’s it with these people and keeping secrets from me?’ amon thought with some frustration in his heart.

"What happened to my unranked talent?" amon calmed his frustration and asked.

For the president of humanity to be here it had to be something serious.

A ripple passed through the air and an eerie silence settled over the room.

Previuosly, amon could still hear the faint russle of the wind and the faint drifting sounds of birds chirping, but now there was total silence in the room amost as though they’d been transported to another... timeline.

Amon was once again filled with shock, however before he could glance around to see what changed the president finally continued.

"The state of humanity as you know it is far from peaceful..."

His words were like a bombshell, settling in everyone’s hearts like a weight.

Jared sighed. A sigh that seemed to explain all the pressure he was enduring all these while.

He waved his hand slightly and space rippled once more, displaying a new scene to Amon.

A giant ape slammed repeately onto a shimmering shield.

A group of humaniod goblins numbering in thousands and tens of thousands slammed repeatedly onto the same shimmering barrier.

Creatures with black skins were brought onto screen, however they too were repeatedly slamming onto the transparent barrier.

After that, a couple more races was displayed on the screen.

The president’s voice landed once more like a divine decree.

"Humanity is on the verge of destruction and you are the only one who can save it!"
