Chapter 22: Humans in the Forest
’Humans, they are truly humans.’ Arthur could not believe his eyes, chaos overwhelmed his emotions, and he completely forgot to conceal his presence and hide, and because of this, he remained exposed.
Suddenly, one of the humans turned around, and looked at him. The moment his blue eyes met the human’s mysterious black eyes, the "Primal Predator" bloodline displayed a kind of reaction.
It was similar to what had happened previously with the spider, the only difference was that his bloodline’s activity this time was much weaker compared to back then.
Arthur did not find enough time to think about this matter, for being seen by the human made him suffer intense panic, for he had not forgotten that he was a monster, and humans are the enemies of monsters.
"Damn." His heart pounded very hard, he held his breath, and prayed from the bottom of his heart that they would not attack him. He still wanted to live, and becoming a luxury rug or a scarf draped around some elderly woman’s shoulders wasn’t on his list of goals.
He could not make out the expressions of the human staring at him, for his metal helmet concealed all his features, but fortunately for him, the human showed no interest in him.
The human simply looked away and continued walking with the rest of the group. There were five of them in total. Some wore heavy metal armor, others wore strange clothing that looked nothing like anything from the modern era.
Most importantly, they carried traditional weapons that radiated lethal auras, especially the sword belonging to the man with the black eyes.
When they had moved a sufficient distance away from him, Arthur let out a sigh of relief, yet he did not lower his guard. Quickly, he scanned their bodies with his sharp eyes, and found that they were no different from humans in his previous world.
After that, he examined them with the "Evaluation" skill, but it displayed nothing useful.

’As I expected, they are extremely powerful, this explains why I did not notice their presence until they got very close to me. I think they didn’t even try to conceal themselves in the first place’
He let out a very long sigh, and deep inside he thanked God for surviving this bitter experience. It was ironic that his weakness, which had caused him to fall into numerous problems, was the same reason that had saved his life several times.
When that massive monster roared near his den, and when he came across the spider’s nest, and now with the humans. In truth, had he been strong enough to attract even a little attention from any of those creatures, he would have been done for long ago.
His composure returned to him, a small smile appeared on his face, and he felt nostalgic for his human form, his true form.
He continued watching the humans cautiously, until they disappeared behind the trees and shrubs. Despite his desire to leave, he took a moment to analyze where they were going, then suddenly, he realized something strange.
’Wait, isn’t that terrifying spider’s nest in the same direction they went? Is it possible...?’
He opened his mouth slightly, showing his shock and confusion. In a way, his guess seemed plausible — no, it was probably exactly what was about to happen.
Even if this was a different world, human nature was probably the same. Human actions, no matter how random they seem, always have some purpose behind them, so yes, humans would not enter a dangerous monster’s territory, unless they wanted to hunt it.
"Tsk, this is truly annoying." Arthur had been living in peace in this place, but now, with the arrival of humans who intend to stir the hornet’s nest, or rather the spider, things would change greatly, either for the worse, or the better.
If the spider died, this entire area would become his alone, with no competitors or sources of threat. This made him feel intense excitement, and his curiosity urged him to follow the humans, and watch what would happen, for who knows, perhaps he would come away with a few gains.
Since he had read many novels and stories with lucky protagonists, he drifted away in his thoughts, and imagined a scenario where the humans and the spider defeat each other, and in the moment they are on the verge of death from their severe injuries, he finishes them off, gaining hundreds, no, thousands of XP at once, and becoming very powerful.
’Well, enough daydreaming now, in all honesty, I’m a notoriously unlucky person. Following them will only lead to my death, that is the reality, this is not a fantasy story.’ He could only sigh.
Because he knew the forest would witness some kind of chaos today, he quickly returned to his safe cave, fully prepared for the worst, his feelings mixed between anticipation, fear, excitement, and most importantly happiness.
Yes, he was happy that he had seen humans, and quite frankly, he considered it a wonderful experience, but in contrast, the spider did not share the same opinion.
...
Deep within the vast spider web, the spider woman slept deeply, for she was going through the final stages of the Evolution Slumber, and this had made her extremely weak.
The moment she sensed the humans’ presence, she opened her eyes, and this time she woke up with full consciousness, her beautiful face darkened, becoming savage, her veins protruded and twisted beneath her skin like worms, several eyes appeared in her forehead, and her fangs grew longer.
"Despicable humans, how dare they interrupt my slumber? I will kill them."
An intense killing intent emanated from her, and even though her tone was filled with threat, she was in reality not capable of doing much, the evolution slumber had restricted most of her abilities.
"Damn, why now?" To buy herself some time, and test the strength of her enemies, she did something strange.
She grabbed a silk thread beside her, then poured her power into it, and it began to vibrate, forming a chain reaction that made the rest of the threads vibrate one after another, and in the end the nest which exceeded twenty square kilometers in area began vibrating in its entirety.
The ripples spread through millions of intertwined threads, carrying one command only: Kill all humans.
From above the trees, and from the depths of the caves underground, and even from between the streams and rivers present in the place, tens of thousands of spiders emerged from their hiding places, and flooded like a tsunami toward the location of the humans.
The spiders were of various types, some extremely small, the size of a grain of rice, and some extremely large, bigger than an elephant. Most of them were unranked, with a fair number of medium Rank spiders, and a large number in the lower Ranks.
