Chapter 16: A Desperate Situation
Blood splattered as scales tore apart. Arthur tore several chunks of tender flesh from the snake, but it was useless. The wounds he inflicted began healing at an unbelievable speed, or more precisely, regenerating.
At the same time, the snake’s body coiled around him from all sides, and began pressing on him with great force. This made him feel as though he had fallen inside a hydraulic press capable of crushing rock.
He gritted his fangs, increased the intensity of his resistance, and tore everything he touched with his claws, and also twisted like a slippery fish trying to break free from the snake’s deadly embrace.
He felt suffocated, and his bones began emitting a faint cracking sound, his muscles stiffened, and within a few seconds his movements were completely restrained.
The snake hissed with a kind of happiness, and increased its strength, making the pressure even more intense.
Due to the intense pain, Arthur regained a little of his rationality, and the gleam of ferocity in his eyes dimmed. He looked at the massive body crushing him in shock, and cursed.
"Fuck."
All this time, he had been semi-conscious of what he was doing, the problem was that he was unable to control himself, like a drowsy spectator who cannot influence what is happening on the television before him.
Control over his body returned to him, but he was unable to move because of the intense pressure, and realizing he had fallen into a desperate situation, he pushed his mind to its limit and tried to think of a solution to his problem.
’Damn, what have I gotten myself into? This cursed moon, it ruined everything! Why must I suddenly go mad like this? As though I do not already have enough problems.’
The effects of the full moon were clouding his thoughts, so he faced difficulty staying calm. Anger took hold of him, and his resentment of his identity as a wolf increased, for it was the cause of everything.
"Agh!" He growled loudly, and using his anger as fuel, he suddenly exploded with great force, his body freed itself a little from the snake’s grip, and without wasting this precious opportunity, he bit the snake and tore a large wound in its body.
"Damn you, I’ll kill you, I’ll tear your guts out, you miserable bastard, I’ll be the last meal you ever choke on, you stupid crawling piece of —!" He unleashed every insult he knew.

The snake felt pain, and its muscles relaxed for a moment, which eased the pressure around him further.
Arthur took a deep breath and filled his lungs with fresh air, then quickly allocated all Evolution Points he had to Strength. He had not spent any of the Evolution Points he had obtained today from killing the goblins and other monsters, so he had 9 points in total.

The system executed his commands immediately, and at that moment he felt a refreshing coldness spread throughout his entire body starting from his chest.
"I will not die here."
Without giving the snake the chance to tighten its grip on him again, he gritted his fangs until his gums bled, and with every ounce of desperation began pushing the snake’s body away from him.
Fortunately, the Evolution Points he had added to Strength made a clear difference, for he managed by some miracle to reduce the physical contact between them, and this gave him greater freedom to think and attack more effectively.
He carefully examined the snake’s body, searching for any injuries from his previous attack that had not fully healed, and when he found a large one, he drove his fangs and claws into it, and began digging through the flesh like a mole.
Random attacks were of no use, so he focused all the damage on one point, hoping to penetrate the snake’s body.
The snake’s expression twisted. Pain overwhelmed it, and for the first time it was taking real damage. It thrashed wildly and tried to clamp down on Arthur again, but struggled to do so.
Its own fighting style had trapped it. With no limbs and no offensive skills beyond constriction, the only way to stop Arthur was to release him — and it refused to do that.
It hissed in resentment, and a savage look appeared on its face. It released all its strength at once, its body swelled like a balloon, and its muscles grew stronger and harder, and its Regeneration speed also increased.
"Son of a —!"
Once again, Arthur found himself unable to resist the intense pressure surrounding him, and the small space he had painstakingly created that allowed him to move freely began to shrink, and within a few seconds he was trapped in the snake’s suffocating embrace once more.
’No, no, this is impossible, I will not die here.’ He could not believe it, nor accept it. He screamed and struggled, but to no avail. His hope shattered. In the hardest way possible, the bitter truth became undeniable.
He was going to die.
Crack!
His body froze completely, and he was no longer able to move at all. His bones cracked one after another emitting a loud cracking sound, his limbs were squeezed, and twisted into a strange position.
His strength gave out, and he could barely draw a breath. Blood leaked from his eyes and nose, then...
Crack!
His right front leg broke.
His heartbeat slowed. The snake felt the resistance fade, and hissed with quiet satisfaction. It coiled the rest of its long body around him, forming a massive ball that sealed out even the air.
Arthur’s consciousness began to drift, his eyes slowly closed, and a bitter smile appeared on his face, and he thought: freewebnoveℓ.com
’So this is the end, ah, what a shame, my second life was far too short. At least it was a little enjoyable.’
He sighed.
’If only I were just a little stronger.’
Yes, strength, it had always been the axis around which everything revolved, and every time he fell into a difficult situation, his desire for it grew. But where was he to get it from? The Rank system was clear, and the way to advance was clear as well. The summit was before his eyes, it seemed close and easy, and at the same time impossible to reach.
There was not much to think about in his final moments, or rather, the suffocating pressure around him prevented him from thinking. He lost consciousness, and little by little his life force weakened heading toward extinction.
The snake noticed that, and its happiness grew, and it waited patiently for his breathing to disappear entirely, for it would not release him until it was certain of his death.
Pulse!
Suddenly, Arthur’s heart pounded hard like a drum. At that moment the snake’s eyes widened, and it felt a foreboding of doom.
Amid the desperate darkness, Arthur suddenly opened his eyes, then looked at the system screens that appeared before him with a wicked smile.
