Chapter 6: Reinett Village

Noticing the system’s notification, his brows couldn’t help but twitched slightly.

Isn’t she a little too overpowered...?

He muttered under his breath, simply because somehow, Samminah always exceeded his expectations.

Just now, she had able to managed to kill that abomination in such far distance, although there was a thick fog it seemed Samminah wasn’t obscured by it.

At the same time, despite being injured earlier, she now seemed to be back at her peak. Her eyes and body looked perfectly vibrant.

This led Ryven to conclude that she likely possessed some form of healing ability, most likely a newly acquired skill.

After a moment of consideration. He simply accepted it. She was a Divine-tier summon, the highest he could possibly obtain.

His gaze shifted back to the system panel.

‎[Would you like to transfer the experience points to ??? Or take it all to yourself?]

‎As always, he gave everything to Samminah.

[+350 Experience Points]

‎[??? Level increased +1]

[??? Mana increased +2]

‎Without hesitation, Ryven allocated all of the Arcane Points into her Mana. ƒreewebɳovel.com

Almost instantly, Samminah felt the slight increase of her Mana, "Mm... good. Keep putting everything into Mana."

After that, her eyes shifted to the boy lying on the ground, by the looks of it, he was barely clinging to life.

"Do you have any abilities that could his body heal?" Ryven asked, his fingers brushing over the boy’s weak pulse.

Samminah didn’t respond immediately. Instead, she carefully examined his wounds.

‎"Strange... This boy’s bloodline feels familiar, yet I can’t quite identify it."

After a few second only then she activated her ability, Moon Luminesce. A faint, moonlight mist spread across the boy’s body, slowly mending his wounds.

His injuries were severe, it was so deep that white bone could be seen in both his arms.

Ryven couldn’t help but feel a trace of pity at the sight.

‎"Fred, scout the surroundings. Check if there are any nearby abominations."

The skeleton obeyed at once. Its movements were stiff as it turned, then it set off, slowly patrolling the surrounding area.

Ryven remained where he was, quietly waiting for the boy to wake up.

‎"I can only maintain this constant healing for five minutes," Samminah spoke flatly. "After that, I’ll need at least ten minutes to recover my Mana."

"If I heal him too quickly, my Mana will be depleted. Without it, I won’t be able to maintain Concealment, and we’ll be swarmed by abominations."

She explained, giving a clear reason for her actions. Ryven simply nodded in understanding

Time passed.

One hours later, after a few intervals of healing, the boy’s wounds were almost fully closed.

The boy slowly opened his eyes in a daze state. Confusion filled his gaze as he glanced around weakly, only to find two people staring at him.

"W-where... Did you two come from?" He asked cautiously. After all, he had lived in the village his entire life, and this was the first time he had seen their faces.

Ryven looked at him and answered bluntly,

"You wouldn’t understand even if I try to explain. So I’ll keep it simple—my name is Ryven Calestair. That’s Samminah and Fred."

After giving an introduction about their name, he turned the question to him.

"Now can you introduce yourself first and explain what happened?"

Hans was naturally skeptical at first, but staring at Ryven’s sincere eyes. He let his guard down.

"I’m Hans Vaelor. My friends and I set out to gather a certain flower—an old man claimed it could make the fog vanish if we brought it to him."

"We were naive. We ignored the warnings of our instructor... Even my father, the village chief. We didn’t believe there were far more terrifying abominations beyond the village."

"Since most of the abominations we had encountered over the past ten years were only First-Stage, we believed we could handle the creatures outside the village."

"So... We snuck out to find it."

"But we didn’t expect to see a Third-Stage Abomination, a-and..."

Before he could continue, tears welled up and streamed down his face.

"Two of my friends died because of that creature..."

He paused for a long moment before continuing, his voice filled with sorrow and guilt.

"C-can I see my friends corpse?"

Ryven simply gestured for him to go, sensing the deep sorrow in his voice.

Afterwards, he ran to where his friends died.

Samminah cast him a cold glance.

"I won’t carry you. Just try your best to keep up."

As she spoke, Ryven had no choice but to keep up. But as they ran at full speed, he quickly fell behind, even Hans was far faster than him.

Looking ahead, a wave of shame washed over him as he realized he was losing to someone younger than him.

Haa... seriously? This kid must’ve been training since he was young.

I’m such an idiot... I should’ve used those experience points earlier and leveled up. I might’ve been able to keep up.

He couldn’t help but criticize himself for making such a careless decision.

After three minutes of running, they reached the scene.

As they drew closer, the heavy scent of blood filled the air, accompanied by a foul stench of a corpse.

Looking at the scene where the slaughter had taken place, he saw two corpses. His face slowly turned pale as nausea hit him.

The two corpse is both splitted in half, intenstine and blood spilled across the ground.

Both the heart of the corpse is nowhere to be seen.

Hans glanced with horror, his heart sank feeling a deep sense of regret. He gritted his teeth, clenching his fist until blood began to seep from his palm.

Without another glance of the corpse he turned around and spoke.

"I’ll bring you to our village to repay you for saving me. It’s the least I can offer."

Although he still felt a stabbing pain in his heart, Hans had no choice but to endure it.

The most important thing now was to get back to the village.

"That works. While we’re on the way, could you tell us about your village?"

"Y-yes... It’s called Reinett Village."

"My father, the village chief—told us that, aside from our village, there shouldn’t be any other humans."

"So... Now seeing the two of you, I can’t help but feel a little skeptical earlier. I’m not even sure if you’re human, especially with that skeleton following you."

As he spoke, he led them forward, his pace gradually quickening. After a few minutes, he broke into a run, clearly trying to reach the village faster.

Ryven panted, struggling to keep up while trying to make sense of Hans’s words.

"Don’t worry, we mean no harm. We’re just looking for refuge." Ryven briefly replied.

He slowed for a brief moment, hesitation flashing across his face before he shot Samminah a pleading look.

"Would you mind helping me out...?"

Samminah let out a cold snort, with a frown, she threw him up in her shoulder with a single motion of her arm.

Hans glanced back at them but said nothing, after all, he had long since realized how weak Ryven was.

On the way, Ryven continued asking Hans various questions.

"I forgot to ask... What’s your level?"

Ryven said, unable to hide his curiosity. Seeing how easily Hans kept up this pace without tiring was genuinely impressive.

"Hm... I’m only level four. I’ve barely encountered any abominations around the village."

"If there were any, they were kept under control and used to nurture the new generation."

"I see... Another question, how many people are in your village?"

Hans pondered for a moment before answering.

"There are about five hundred people in our village."

At his answer, Ryven’s eyes lit up.

"Really? Is it peaceful?"

Hans nodded, his expression turning solemn.

"Some abominations could occasionally enter the village, but they’re mostly manageable."

"If a strong abomination appears, the instructors step in. They’re around level fifty to eighty so their strength isn’t something to underestimate."

"Besides, we have an array barrier protecting the fortress, so it’s generally safe."

As he explained, Ryven quietly digested the information.

From what he could tell, the village wasn’t anything like a cult, it was simply a some people struggling to survive, just like him.

Time passed, and the thick fog gradually began to dissipate. It thinned more and more until only a faint mist remained.

After thirty minutes of travel, they finally arrived at Reinett Village.

The first thing Ryven saw was a towering wooden fortress. Two guards stood at the entrance, keeping watch.

The moment they noticed something approaching, both guards immediately grew cautious.

Before they could raise their weapons, Hans quickly stepped forward and stopped them.

"Please, calm down. I’m Hans Vaelor. Is my father, the chief, inside?"

One of the guards frowned.

"Hans...? Y-you?! Did you disobey the village rules and sneak outside?"
