Chapter 469: The Tournament Begins! [Chapter 5/5]

The moment the bond settled, Moon began to share his feelings through it.

He sent warmth and safety.

The memory of feeding the egg, pouring bucket after bucket of Golden Fish blood, carefully maintaining the runes on its container, carrying it on his back across a floating island while fighting spirits and Evolvers.

He wanted the turtle to know. The person on the other end of this bond was the one who had been caring for it since the day its mother died.

The turtle responded in kind.

Through the bond, Moon felt something small and fragile reach back toward him. It wasn’t words. It was pure emotion. Happiness. The simple joy of a young creature that had found something warm and decided it was safe.

Moon smiled softly.

The turtle valued trust deeply. Whether it was an inherited trait from its Supreme-Rank mother or simply the nature of a creature too young to have explored the cruel world outside, Moon couldn’t say.

After several exchanges of feeling, Moon carefully constructed an image in his mind.

A space that was both warm and comfortable, safe and filled with nourishing energy. A place where the turtle could rest and grow without danger. He sent the image through the bond, hoping the unhatched creature could understand what he was offering.

He activated Beastmaster and attempted to retrieve the egg into his beast taming space.

The turtle accepted without resistance. ƒreewebɳovel.com

The egg vanished from the table, disappearing from the physical world and reappearing inside the pocket dimension alongside Mirage’s usual space.

"This is perfect."

Through the bond, the turtle immediately conveyed its emotions.

Joy. Comfort. The environment was rich with Moon’s ambient mana, warm and soothing, exactly the sort of space a creature needed to grow.

"Good." Moon murmured. "This way, nobody can harm it. Inside my beast taming space, the egg can only be damaged if I die permanently."

No Ascender could probe it. No thief could steal it. No curious eyes could find it. The egg was locked behind a barrier that only Moon’s death could break.

Moon turned to Mirage, who was still standing beside the now-empty table.

"Thank you, partner. You’re a lifesaver. Quite literally." Moon rubbed the horse’s neck. "I’ll make sure to treat you to some really solid food next time. Something you’ll enjoy."

Mirage’s ears perked up at the mention of food. When Moon mentions food, that meant high quality beasts that would strengthen him.

"Sorry, you’ll need to go back for now. You can also use that time to get familiar with the new addition to the team. "

Mirage didn’t argue. He dipped his head once against Moon’s chest, then dissolved into light as Moon returned him to the beast taming space.

Moon returned Mirage to his beast taming space and got dressed. He swapped his casual clothes for his battle clothes.

He checked the time. Still around an hour before he and Selene needed to leave.

Moon sat at the desk in his room and pulled out his phone. If he couldn’t decipher the Floating Island Book through his own knowledge, maybe the internet could point him in the right direction.

He opened the online forums and began searching. Ancient languages found in the First and Second Sanctuary. Translation databases. Symbol catalogues. Anything that might match the script he had seen inside the book.

There was no shortage of material. Dozens of threads discussed unidentified languages encountered inside various gates and Sanctuary zones. Some had partial translations, offering word banks that matched specific symbols to their English equivalents. Others were purely speculative, filled with theories that went nowhere.

Moon scrolled through page after page, cross-referencing the symbols he saw from the book against every database he could find.

Nothing matched.

The forums he had access to were mostly populated by Awakeners and low-level Evolvers. Their exposure to ancient texts and high-level Sanctuary content was limited. Whatever language the Floating Island Book was written in, it existed at a level above what the general population had encountered.

Moon closed his phone and leaned back in his chair.

"I can only ask Tom later."

The old fox had connections that stretched far beyond what any forum could offer. If anyone could identify the language or point Moon toward someone who could, it was him.

Moon pocketed his phone and glanced at the clock.

’It’s time.’

Moon stood up from his chair and made his way out towards the living room. Selene and Yara were already dressed, waiting for him.

The three set out to the tournament location, taking the nearest VIP orbital available. That didn’t take long, only about ten minutes.

They arrived early for the tournament, around an hour before the grand opening official began.

Just like they predicted, the chaos was even greater than the testing stage. More people were coming from all over the kingdom to watch.

Staring at the queue length, Yara gulped. "These queues are so long...@

Moon and Selene nodded their heads. "Luckily, we don’t have to worry about that." Selene waved the paraticpant card she had recieved after completely acing her entry exam.

She was now a competitor. Their queues were completely different, simply show the badge. and enter without any hassle.

Just like Selene, Moon had the same privilege.

After showing their ID cards to the man at the front gate, they were escorted in quickly. Yara was allowed to enter with them, as she was considered a property of the owner, Selene.

After entering, the three made their way to the largest arena. Where the first trials would all occur, live streamed to hundreds of millions of people around the world.

A kingdom level tournament had its own attraction in other kingdoms too.

Moon, Selene and Yara remained in the waiting area of the fighters for some time. They spent this time joking and laughing with each other, unlike other competitors that were all on edge.

Suddenly, a voice sounded within the room.

"All competitors, please make your way towards the grand arena platform!"

Moon and Selene stood up from their seats, alongside a bunch of other competitors that were in the same lounge area as them.

"Let’s go."
