Chapter 46: Piercing Arrows. Gromda in Shock

The baboons immediately began backing away, grabbing each other. One picked up a smaller baboon and ran as fast as possible, while Silas watched them disappear into the forest in speechlessness.

"..."

"Well." freewēbnoveℓ.com

"Well."

"I think we found out who’s stronger."

Gromda nodded seriously.

"Not baboon models."

"Definitely not the baboon models."

But if they thought their problem was over, then they were wrong. It was just starting. They were just turning to find one of the canopy trees when they heard feet scuttling and unnerving cries all around them. Their skin prickled just with the sound of the bestial cries. Gromda’s face twisted in fear and disgust, funny how that was even possible.

"Are we for real?!" Silas couldn’t help but shout in frustration, his pink eyes glowing. Looking around, he spotted eerie, glowing silver eyes everywhere. They belonged to huge spiders, about five feet tall with bloated abdomens. One didn’t even hesitate to spit out a ball of web forcefully towards them. Silas dodged, pulling Gromda out of the way.

His eyes turned grim and serious. He had remained mostly passive all this time; it was time to get serious. He could actually feel the danger of these spiders. Unlike the sharks or the baboons, these beasts weren’t attacking them for food or because they were offended, but for killing sake. He could feel it. They were killing for fun, and he wouldn’t allow himself to be their prey.

[Monsters Identified!]

[Blood-Thirsty Spiders]

[Rank: D (Possible C or B-Rank Leader)]

[Recommendation: None. Go for it, champ!]

See? Even the system was cheering him on.

"Gromda," Silas’s voice turned deep and serious, causing her to shiver, and it wasn’t from fear. She liked the feeling of... domination.

"Yesh?" She stammered, almost biting her tongue. Her nipples were already poking her almost non-existent breast covering.

"Do anything to survive this. You are an orc, not a little girl. You are strong and beautiful. Break things if you must. No one can stop you," Silas said, causing her heart to flutter. But that was just the small part of it. She felt something more... a deep, engraved strength, a power in her soaring gradually. Her body shook as one of the spiders jumped towards her, picking her as the easiest target. And it was right. She was actually the easiest target, but that was changing abruptly.

The monster’s claws snapped while its jaws opened wide, only to be met with a huge fist. Gromda’s fists glowed with a deep green light, coating her hands with a kind of green metal. It connected and tore through the spider with such force that the shockwave hit five more who had jumped after it. It was obvious what they were planning to do. They were going to gang up on her since she was a giant, but they failed exceptionally. The wave killed three more, albeit more cleanly.

As for those who had targeted Silas, they were in for the most epic death ever. The spiders came from every direction, their glowing silver eyes locked onto him with murderous intent. Silas stood still, his pink eyes glowing softly. A grin slowly spread across his face.

"Alright." The spiders accelerated. "Let’s see what these things can really do."

The moment the first spider entered striking distance, a huge pink circle appeared behind him.

WHOOOOOM!

The air trembled, and the forest shook, causing Gromda to turn around in shock. The circle was beautiful and ancient, covered in countless glowing symbols. At its center floated dozens of crystalline pink arrows, which became hundreds in mere seconds. The spiders hesitated as their instincts screamed at them to run, escape, leave the place, but they were stubborn.

Silas raised a hand, and the arrows moved, while his smile widened.

"Piercing Arrow Set."

The pink circle brightened, and then... FIRE.

Hundreds of arrows erupted from the circle, and the forest exploded. The arrows moved faster than sound and faster than the spiders could react. A spider leaped only to have an arrow pierce its head. Another spat webbing, and an arrow pierced it through its mouth, shooting through its abdomen, and then through the tree behind it. A small hill behind it got caught in the crossfire, exploding into smitherins. One tried to flee, but three arrows pinned it to the ground.

The massacre began.

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

Pink streaks tore across the forest. Every spider touched by an arrow exploded into pieces. Trees were pierced, boulders shattered, while entire sections of forest vanished. One particularly large spider emerged from the canopy. Its body was nearly the size of a truck. A C-Rank. Well, it never even landed. Five arrows struck it simultaneously, causing the monster to burst apart midair.

The arrows continued. Nothing escaped or survived their onslaught. The spiders attempted retreat, but it was too late. The arrows chased them to their ends. The forest lit up with countless pink flashes, leaving only remains of a horde of Blood-Thirsty Spiders in their wake. The monsters didn’t even get the chance to showcase their ability, whatever it was.

In the end, only absolute silence and destruction reigned. Trees lay broken everywhere. The ground had been torn apart. Several deep trenches stretched through the forest where arrows had passed, while smoke rose from the devastated landscape. The pink circle slowly faded, and Silas lowered his hand.

"..."

"That was awesome."

[Agreed.]

Gromda stared at the destruction, then at Silas in shock and speechlessness. Her mouth slowly opened.

"Mate..."

"Hm?"

"You very scary."

"I know, right?" Silas grinned.

Far away, hidden among the trees, something that had been watching the battle slowly retreated. It had witnessed the destruction, the arrows, and the pink-haired human. The predator felt fear for the first time in years.

Meanwhile, Silas looked at the ruined battlefield and sighed.

"There goes our campsite."

Gromda nodded seriously.

"No trees left."

"...Fair point."

And so the duo continued deeper into the forest, completely unaware that the display they had just made had attracted the attention of something far more dangerous than spiders.
