Chapter 1140: Chapter 1110: Sudden Arrival

"What have you found?" Xiao Lin changed direction; they were now heading toward the police station, while at the same time, Yelu Shou, waiting at the docks, boarded the ship alone after receiving a call from Xiao Lin.

"Cross discovered that there will be a drug deal tonight. We already have extensive criminal records on this drug lord and are just waiting to arrest him at the transaction site tonight."

"Mr. Su!" Xiao Lin stepped on the gas, increasing the speed; he had to reach the docks before Yelu Shou set off on his own. "Who is he dealing with?"

"Yes! It’s someone from the Genovis family, but both Cross and I suspect it’s someone under Robert’s command, operating in the name of Casab behind the scenes."

"No, that’s not enough to have Cross killed."

Robert is currently in the hands of Dan Ning, making Shao Weihua lack a key ally. To kill a CIA agent at this moment would be like adding fuel to the fire. Yi mentioned that there is a group of mysterious people in Sicily with their sights set on the batch of arms Shao Weihua has; they were also the ones who set the fire on the cargo ship.

Seeing the solemn expression on Xiao Lin’s face, Kate dared not speak. Cross was his partner, and his emotions were deeply pained and sensitive, which made him even more committed and determined about tonight’s operation.

"Why kill Cross?" Xiao Lin murmured before dialing Yelu Shou’s phone.

The ship was about to set sail. Yelu Shou stood on the deck, anticipating a fierce battle tonight. He had a premonition, watching the road leading to the docks. Xiao Lin’s car still hadn’t appeared at the intersection; instead, there was the constant ringing of his phone.

"The boss hasn’t arrived yet?" Troy, puffing on a cigarette, occasionally showed some dejected expressions. His childish behavior was like that of an immature kid; Xiao Lin had said Troy was regressing, thus forbade him from practicing Evil Arts, just as Black Doctor had pointed out, the signs of regression were weakening. "Your phone is ringing." Seeing Yelu Shou staring blankly ahead, Troy snatched the phone and answered it.

"Oh, boss, where are you?"

Xiao Lin was taken aback. Yelu Shou’s phone was in Troy’s hand. Had they already set off? "Where are you now?"

"Still at the docks, getting ready to leave."

"Cancel tonight’s mission, tell Shou we have other matters to attend to."

Handing the phone back to Yelu Shou, Troy shuddered slightly. At this moment, Yelu Shou seemed a bit odd. "The boss said we have other matters tonight, we’re not going to sea."

Yelu Shou, still unresponsive, nodded and then jumped off the ship, landing on the ground below. Abandoning the entire ship at the docks, Troy watched Yelu Shou’s retreating figure move his lips slightly, then slipped into the cabin.

The white Land Rover stopped at the entrance of the police station. Cross was pronounced dead on the spot, and his body was already transported to the police station’s underground storage. In his office, Director Meisai was restless. This wasn’t just the death of an ordinary person; a CIA agent died in Sicily, which, no matter the reason, was an international issue for him. Moreover, he believed not everyone thought this was a simple traffic accident.

"Director Meisai!" Just as these thoughts came to him, trouble followed.

"Come in, both of you. I was just looking for you."

"Let’s get straight to the point, Director." At this moment, Kate had completely lost any pretense of gentlemanly conduct; he looked utterly disheveled.

"Yes, Mr. Kate." Meisai shrugged indifferently. "At the time of the accident, Mr. Cross’s car was traveling from east to west. The old Ford behind him, due to skidding from the trailing car, collided into it, causing the Ford’s driver to lose control, mistaking the accelerator for the brake, ramming into Mr. Cross’s car in front, crashing into the side barrier, resulting in the crash." Meisai summarized the situation, according to reports from traffic police analysis.

"Accident?" Kate raised his voice a bit.

"Yes, Mr. Kate, as it stands, this appears to be a traffic accident."

Xiao Lin grabbed Kate’s arm. "If it’s truly an accident, can we proceed with the claim procedures? I think Cross wouldn’t want to end up dead in a foreign land."

Kate, confused, looked over at Xiao Lin, his angry eyes betraying his inner emotions.

"You can!"

"Thank you!"

Xiao Lin stood silently outside Troy’s hospital room, looking at Troy through the glass window, tubes inserted all over his body. No one could know what he was thinking, nor say anything to him.

This was the first person he had brought under his wing since arriving in Sicily, someone who fought with undivided loyalty, someone who would laugh foolishly no matter how much he was teased, sometimes even serving as everyone’s punching bag for venting, someone who secretly went out to get beaten, chasing higher realms to avoid falling behind others, and now lay lifeless there due to regression.

The Black Doctor, dressed in all black, bustled inside. Xiao Lin watched the scene from the window, unable to perform the surgery himself. It wasn’t some nonsensical principle about not operating on someone close, but because he simply couldn’t calm himself enough to do it. The Black Doctor had decisively shut him out of the door, refusing to let Troy, who had barely survived an explosion, die by the hands of his own people.

This explosion truly wounded his heart, making it ache profoundly and left Yelu Shou, sitting silently at the side, unable to recover from his guilt.

"Lin, take a break!" Xia Xue whispered softly behind Xiao Lin. "You’ve been standing here for a long time."

Xiao Lin took a deep breath, gently shook his head, and walked over to Yelu Shou. "Where were you at that moment?"

Yelu Shou raised his head woodenly, speechlessly looking at Xiao Lin. Where was he? That time felt like a void he couldn’t recall; he could only remember after Troy had finished the call, he jumped off the ship because Xiao Lin said the mission was canceled.

What was I thinking then? Those thoughts couldn’t come together, and as soon as I took a few steps away, the sharp sound of something piercing through the air occurred rapidly. Soon after, I saw a missile landing where I had just stood, explosions erupting. As I tried to react, another missile flew past my left side.

Their ship was attacked, and Troy was still on board!

This was the truth! Another fact was that, at the critical moment, he did not go onto the ship to find people first, but ran in the direction of the missiles; this was his instinct, yet forgot another instinct. Hence, Yelu Shou had no words for Xiao Lin, and the crow at his feet seemed to be pleading for Yelu Shou, nuzzling Xiao Lin’s pants, whimpering as if feeling everyone’s pain. (To be continued.
