Chapter 1849: Combined Attack
The Rank Five vizier of the Amenkha Empire gave Sein a feeling unlike any opponent he had faced before.
Any Rank Five being Sein had encountered in the past would have run away the moment they saw a Rank Six robot and a Rank Five mage in his Ashen Demon form charging straight at them.
But the vizier did the opposite. He abandoned his original opponent without hesitation and flew directly toward Sein and Fermera.
Was he arrogant, or simply ignorant?
Either way, his presence was undeniably imposing.
As he closed the distance, the “bandages” wrapped around his body began to unravel in all directions.
At the same time, his aura surged, his power rising sharply.
“Is this the self-sealing technique commonly used by the Amenkha Empire, the one Grandmaster Feylis mentioned?” Sein mumbled in surprise.
On his journey to the Sea Melody World, Sein had seen lower-ranking creatures of the Amenkha Empire unleash brief bursts of power.
But those displays had never left much of an impression.
The surge of power coming from the Rank Five vizier before him was on an entirely different level.
“Still... this guy’s far too arrogant!” Sein sneered.
At most, this vizier was only at the late stage of Rank Five. Even with a temporary surge, he could only reach the peak of that rank.
In the heat of battle, pushing one’s limits and challenging stronger opponents might have been this vizier’s mindset.
But sometimes, when the gap was too great, forcing it would only lead to self-destruction.
“Use the one we developed last time,” Sein said to Fermera.
Without a word, Fermera moved to stand in front of him.
Her eight metallic wings flared open, gleaming with a cold sheen as intricate magic arrays spread across their surface were fully revealed.
As a primary power source for her body, the wings immediately began drawing in energy from the surrounding space the moment they unfurled.
Countless fine threads of energy began converging toward the nodes across Fermera’s wings.
As they gathered, a violent surge of energy fluctuations followed.
At the same time, Sein moved behind her and raised his magic scepter.
At its tip, the forbidden-level Penetrating Eye spell rapidly built up power.
In the next instant, a blinding white beam and a crimson torrent of elemental energy merged into one, then shot straight toward the Rank Five vizier.
The vizier, who was still in the middle of his power burst, went pale upon sensing the overwhelming surge of energies.
The force of the attack had already surpassed what he could withstand.
Even though he reacted quickly and tried to dodge, he was still hit. The combined strike tore straight through his shoulder.
The intertwining torrent of energies pierced clean through his body.
Even the outer sealing bandages, made from the skin of multiple Rank Four and Rank Five creatures, were mostly vaporized under the intense impact.
Only after losing an arm did the Rank Five vizier truly feel fear.
He shot Sein and Fermera a venomous glare, then turned and fled at full speed toward the edge of the Sea Melody World.
Since he was still in his burst phase, his escape speed was impressive.
Sein might not be able to catch him, but once Fermera folded her wings, she certainly could.
“Let’s help Tourmaline and the others first. We shouldn’t stay on this battlefield any longer,” Sein said, grabbing Fermera’s arm.
She nodded, then shot upward into the sky above the Sea Melody World. From her wings, underarms, arms, and legs, rows of mechanical cannon barrels unfolded in an instant.
Now in her ultimate humanoid weapon form, Fermera immediately opened fire on every high-ranking Amenkha Empire creature in the plane!
A dense storm of energy beams and missiles rained down on every law-wielding enemy across the Sea Melody World.
Since the end of the subspace war, Fermera’s combat strength had clearly risen to another level.
This was not just due to Sein’s alchemical and mechanical upgrades, but more importantly, the result of the Magic Cube’s law power and its continuous enhancement.
The Magic Cube was truly a unique treasure, one that granted unimaginable benefits to technological lifeforms.
While fused with Fermera, the Magic Cube used its own computational power to constantly analyze her structure, searching for any possible improvements.
As a robot with Rank Six combat capability, Fermera was already close to perfect.
After all, the Gallant Federation had not yet developed an overlord-class robot.[1]
The fact that the Magic Cube could still refine and optimize her further was already remarkable.
The fusion attack Sein and Fermera used in their recent combined battle was something he had only developed not long ago.
Spending so much time in the laboratory every day, it was only natural that he would come up with something new.
He had even considered redesigning Fermera’s internal structure—expanding it to include an additional cockpit he could enter once her frame was enlarged.
That kind of cooperative combat would be somewhat similar to Yuri and her Burning Flame Unit.
However, with limited time and too many other experiments demanding his attention, he had not put the idea into practice yet.
Mechanical arts were just as vast and profound as the study of the pyro element.
Even after reaching Rank Five, Sein still felt like a novice, fumbling his way through those endless depths.
There were still countless fields left to explore, and far too many truths waiting to be uncovered.

The forces the Amenkha Empire initially deployed to the Sea Melody World did not include any Rank Six beings.
That gave Sein and his group a crucial opening.
The empire’s main offensive focus was likely still the central region of the Mordora Star Domain.
After Sein and the others repelled the forces attacking Tourmaline’s group and regrouped with her and Saxe, reinforcements from other battlefields arrived outside the Sea Melody World before Feylis and her forces could get there.
On top of that, the units that had been following behind Sein and his group all this time finally caught up.
When Sein looked up, the sky was already packed with hordes of necromantic and umbra elemental creatures, with the former being the most numerous.
Thick clouds of death energy rolled across the sky, accompanied by the roars of countless beasts.
“Is a Rank Six creature coming?” Standing atop Tourmaline’s head, Sein reached out and patted one of her dragon horns as he looked up.
From within the churning dark clouds, a massive, single-horned Rank Six monster slowly pushed its head into view.
