Chapter 52: Chapter 25: Advancing to the Finals

"The current situation... it’s hard to say."

"Hmm, it depends on what the last regular face-down card each side has."

"I notice the Bick Clan boy is exuding confidence. Maybe he has a killer card up his sleeve."

The audience around was analyzing the card situation.

Many people replaced Ree Shil’s card deck with their own and felt it was a dire situation.

If they were to face the [Giant Shield Warrior] + [Radiant Cross] combination, they simply wouldn’t have any good plan, and it would take many rounds to take them down.

If Bick Boy’s last face-down card is an ordinary one, then it’s a different story.

But looking at his demeanor, it’s likely he’s ready to unleash a killer card.

How can they handle a killer card when not even the first row cards of the opponents could be taken care of?

"You must be really curious about the card I’m about to unveil."

Gazing at Ree Shil, Bick Boy had already displayed a winner’s smile.

This is the final round of the preliminaries, he must bring out his strongest card, no room for slippage.

He is completely confident in this card.

Once it’s launched, he’s guaranteed to win.

He’s already planted his flag here today.

"Finals, here I come!"

As he picked up the card, his last regular face-down card was flipped over on the card table.

[Zzz Gah!]

The card was revealed to be a giant centipede with elongated needle-like mouthparts, crawling out of the card face.

[Hungry Giant Centipede]

Berserk, 30 points, D

Attack 70, 10/10

[Starvation - Passive]: Increase Attack of Hungry Giant Centipede by +40, decrease Health upper limit by -90

Once this card was out, the surrounding audience immediately exclaimed in shock.

"My God! 30 points, 70 points of Attack Power?!"

"That Attack Power is even higher than that of two average cards combined, that’s strong!"

For them at this level of proficiency, they had only seen such high-level cards on simulated card tables at the Card Club.

Some people immediately started to calculate the trend of the card game at this moment.

The [Giant Shield Warrior] is at full health, and the [Radiant Cross] can further heal it twice, making it effectively have 160 health points. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

Suppose the opponent has four average cards of 30 points, and they all focus fire on it.

Then under the [Defense] effect, taking into account [Poisoning], it would take 45 points of damage every round.

Points of Damage - 20 Points of Healing = 25 points of damage.

Two rounds later, it would still have 50 health points left, and under a condition with no more healing, it could sustain for 2 more rounds before being defeated.

Total it’s able to withstand 4 rounds.

And the [Hungry Giant Centipede] can do a DPS of 280 health points in 4 rounds.

Of course, this is only the absolute ideal situation. There will be some variations in the actual game.

However, one can already compare quite clearly that the DPS + Survival abilities of both sides are not on the same level.

"This is a good card, almost like a low-budget top-tier card for PVE."

"But it’s not suitable for 4+1 PVP because it’s too squishy."

Yet, to everyone’s surprise, Ree Shil still remained calm and gave his comment.

As he spoke, he flicked his finger.

Ding!

The face-down card was flung out in an arc, spun a circle over Bick Boy’s head, and by the time it landed on the card table, it was already face-up.

"Wow!" x N

The crowd gasped in astonishment.

Let’s not talk about anything else, just this move alone, it was a master stroke.

[I’m So Ugly!]

An ugly man with a rough appearance and a kitchen knife in his hand jumped out of the card face.

He was dressed in white clothes and a hat, a chef at first glance.

[Ugly Chef]

Wisdom, 20 points, D

Attack 20, 100/100, 1/1

[A Bit Ugly - 1 Energy Point]: The Ugly Chef selects a target and taunts it for 2 rounds

([Taunt]: Forces the target to attack the taunter)

Ree Shil hid this card well, he hadn’t shown it in the first 5 rounds.

When it was revealed now, the audience immediately changed sides.

"Whoa! It’s a control card!"

"I’m so jealous, he has a control card, and he’s only a low-level card player!"

"Whew! This card seems to perfectly counter the opponent!"

You see, in Cube Card’s action rounds, different types of actions have a priority. (Note: Will explain separately later about two actions with the same priority colliding).

The priority for several common types of actions is:

[Defense] > [Buff]/[Debuff] > [Movement] > [Attack]

For instance, [First Aid] ranks before [Defense].

While [Treatment] ranks after [Attack].

And [Debuff] includes various controls.

Some control mechanisms don’t even give [Defense] much of a chance.

For instance, [Petrification]: Reduces the total damage taken from attacks

This effect against a [Defense] target is equivalent to increasing the target’s defense power.

Or take [Fear]: The target is compelled to [Defend] in the next round

This effect is delayed and cannot control [Defense] either.

[Entangled]: The target cannot [Move]

This effect doesn’t affect [Defense] at all.

But [Taunt] is one of the best soft controls that can break [Defense].

Obviously, Bick Boy knows this as well.

The previous smile on his face had long disappeared at this point.

Because the result of the following card game was quite clear.

However, holding onto an unrealistic hope, he still chose to continue playing.

Yet, Ree Shil didn’t leave any chance for the boy.

Due to energy reasons, the Ugly Chef’s [Taunt] can only taunt one time.

But, that’s enough.

He chose [Giant Shield Warrior] as the [Taunt] target.

It should be noted that, as there’s a Zombie Beast Hound in front of the chef, the target being taunted is going to attack the Zombie Beast Hound instead.
