Chapter 309: Chapter 309: A Beating First
SLAM! Su Qing swung the door shut behind her.
Xiang was stunned for a moment, then chuckled. "Well, well. Didn’t take you for being in such a hurry, little beauty. Don’t you worry, Mr. Xiang is going to make sure you have a real good time today... AAAAAHHHHH! Let go! Let go of my hand! AAAAAHHHHH! It hurts, it hurts, it hurts!"
Before Xiang could finish, Su Qing kicked him in the knee. His leg immediately gave out, and he started to fall, but before his knees could even touch the ground, Su Qing grabbed his arm and twisted it behind him. The sudden motion made Xiang howl in agony.
Unmoved, Su Qing applied more pressure.
"AAAAHHHHH! It hurts! Ma’am, I was wrong, I was wrong! Let go, please! It hurts!" Xiang shrieked, his voice cracking from the pain.
"Who were you calling ’little beauty’?" Su Qing asked coldly.
"I misspoke! It was a mistake! You’re the boss, ma’am! Ow, ow, ow, the pain is killing me!" Xiang stammered, sweat pouring down his forehead.
Xiang was regretting everything. ’I can’t believe it,’ he thought. ’She looked so delicate, so pretty... but she took me down in a single move.’
’Hiss... Don’t tell me she’s an officer from the police department. Is this an undercover sting?’
At that thought, Xiang’s face crumpled. "Officer, I was wrong! I haven’t even done anything bad lately, just collected a bit of protection money, that’s it! I swear! I’ll hand it all over, okay? Just... ow, ow, ow, you’re killing me! Please, have mercy, officer!"
"Just a bit of protection money?" Su Qing asked coldly.
"Yes, yes, that’s right, officer! I swear to God, all I did was collect a little protection money. If I’m lying, may lightning strike me dead," Xiang said quickly.
Su Qing hadn’t planned on doing much more to Xiang anyway; she still needed to question him. She let go of his arm. The moment the pressure was gone, Xiang’s legs buckled and he crumpled to the floor. His knee and arm still ached, but he didn’t dare fight back, let alone run. He was terrified the woman would grab him again. He knew he couldn’t take much more of that.
Rubbing his shoulder, Xiang struggled to sit up against the wall. He quickly looked up at Su Qing. "So, officer, what is it you need from me?"
"I’m not an officer. I’m here to ask you a few questions," Su Qing said evenly. She didn’t mention getting her information from An Zhihan, nor did she bring up Uncle Tian. Cheng Beize had suggested the kidnapping might be connected to the An Family. And although An Zhihan had fallen out with her uncles, she was still an An Family member. Su Qing decided to err on the side of caution. After all, she didn’t know An Zhihan all that well.
"Oh, you’re not an officer!" Xiang breathed a sigh of relief. A part of him wanted to yell at Su Qing and demand to know how she found him, but the memory of her skills made his courage wither. "Right then, ma’am," he said quickly. "Go ahead. What do you want to ask me?"
"How much do you know about the gangs in Xiangcheng?" Su Qing asked.
"A lot. I know a lot," Xiang replied quickly. That information wasn’t exactly a secret; pretty much anyone who cared to look into the gangs in Xiangcheng could find it out. So, he quickly gave Su Qing a rundown of the current situation.
Su Qing nodded. It was exactly what An Zhihan had told her.
"What have these gangs in Xiangcheng been up to recently? Tell me everything you know, down to the very last detail."
Su Qing dragged Xiang into the inner room. She glanced around at the mess and frowned, then casually tossed him onto the bed. Finding a stool that looked relatively clean, she sat down and fixed her gaze on him.
"Ma’am, what kind of news are you looking for?" Xiang asked, confused by her question. He had no idea what she was getting at.
Su Qing raised an eyebrow. "Did you not understand me? I want you to tell me everything you know—big or small, regardless of the gang—about anything that’s happened in the last few months. Tell me every single detail."
