Chapter 303: Chapter 303: Li Wan’s New Romance

Although Su Qing greeted Gu Xinsheng normally, Li Wan felt inexplicably flustered.

When Li Wan first woke up, she was filled with gratitude for Gu Xinsheng and didn’t think about much else. She had been completely focused on how to repay his kindness. After all, you could say he had saved her life.

If Gu Xinsheng hadn’t taken her away from Li Aiguo’s home and helped her find the nation’s top neurosurgeon, she never would have had the chance to wake up again—let alone reunite with her daughter and her true family.

However, Li Wan never imagined that Gu Xinsheng actually had feelings for her. Not only that, but he had even confessed them to her.

At first, Li Wan was flustered. Ever since Su Shengjun’s death, she had never considered starting a new relationship, so she was naturally a bit slow when it came to matters of the heart. Gu Xinsheng’s confession left her at a complete loss.

But Li Wan had never been an indecisive person—otherwise, she wouldn’t have been so resolute about separating from the Old Su Family all those years ago. So, after a brief moment of panic, she told Gu Xinsheng clearly that she needed three days to think it over before giving him an answer.

After thinking for three days, Li Wan sorted through her feelings for Gu Xinsheng from top to bottom. She suddenly realized she wasn’t completely oblivious to him; it was just that with everything that had happened, she simply hadn’t had a chance to understand her own heart.

So, three days later, Li Wan agreed to Gu Xinsheng’s advances. She consented to start dating him with marriage in mind, and if they were a good match, they would then consider getting married.

The Li family was also delighted to hear this. Because they all worked within the same system, they were quite familiar with Gu Xinsheng.

Seeing that Li Wan had accepted his advances, Gu Xinsheng was ecstatic. He had been taking her out these past couple of days to nurture their relationship, but he hadn’t expected to run right into Su Qing when they got back today.

Li Wan grew a little anxious, remembering she hadn’t yet told her daughter about her new relationship. She didn’t know if Su Qing would support her. Gu Xinsheng, on the other hand, didn’t have much of a reaction; after all, he had previously told Su Qing that he liked her mother.

Seeing Li Wan’s face flush red, Su Qing was inwardly amused. She pulled her mother aside and whispered, "Mom, did Uncle Gu confess his feelings to you?"

"Ah!" Li Wan froze. "Qingqing, you knew...?"

"Of course," Su Qing said with a smile. "There had to be a reason Uncle Gu was helping us so much. I’m old enough to figure out that he likes you."

With that, Su Qing gave a mischievous grin and asked, "Mom, have you and Uncle Gu already started dating?"

Li Wan’s face grew even redder. "Yes... Um, Qingqing, you’re not against me and your Uncle Gu?"

Hearing the calmness in Su Qing’s tone, Li Wan felt her daughter was taking it very well, and her own nerves began to settle.

Su Qing smiled. "Mom, Uncle Gu is a good man. I can tell he likes you a lot. As long as you like him too, I won’t object at all. You’re still young. You should have someone by your side to care for you."

Hearing this, Li Wan’s eyes grew moist. She truly hadn’t expected her daughter to not only not object but to actually support her relationship with Gu Xinsheng.

Su Qing’s thoughtfulness made Li Wan incredibly happy.

Su Qing chuckled softly. "But if you and Uncle Gu get married, I’m afraid you’ll have to move to Guang City with him. Grandpa and Grandma would hate to see you go."

Li Wan smiled, pursing her lips. "Your Uncle Gu has been busy arranging a transfer back to Beijing. It’s almost a sure thing."

Su Qing’s eyes lit up. ’That’s wonderful!’ she thought. This way, Li Wan wouldn’t have to be separated from her grandparents. She could tell the elderly Li couple couldn’t bear the thought of Li Wan leaving their side. After being separated for decades and only just reuniting, how could they stand to let her go to Guang City? "That’s really great," she said aloud.

"Qingqing, even if your Uncle Gu and I get together in the future, I will always dote on you," Li Wan said, nodding at Su Qing. She was afraid her daughter might worry that a new relationship meant she would love her less.

Su Qing smiled and hugged Li Wan’s arm. "Of course. I’m your sweet, caring daughter, after all."

Li Wan couldn’t help but smile at that, lightly tapping the tip of Su Qing’s nose. Mother and daughter looked at each other and smiled, their hearts filled with warmth.

The Li family was also overjoyed by Su Qing’s support for Li Wan’s new relationship.

For the next few days, Su Qing focused on studying for the exams with Li Huan, free from distractions. Soon, it was time for the college entrance exams.

Su Qing found the two-day exam quite relaxing. For her, the questions from this era were very easy. Li Huan, on the other hand, was a nervous wreck after the exams ended. One moment she’d worry she’d answered something wrong, the next she’d fret that she and Su Qing wouldn’t get into the same university. She only relaxed a little after comparing answers with Su Qing and discovering that many of theirs were the same.

Afterwards, Li Huan pestered Su Qing into applying to the same universities as her. Su Qing didn’t really care—one school was the same as another to her—so she went along with Li Huan’s wishes.

With the college entrance exams over, Su Qing planned to take a trip to Xiangcheng. In all the time since she’d returned to Beijing, she hadn’t received any news from Yun Province, so she decided to go to Xiangcheng and check on things herself.

However, going to Xiangcheng now would be somewhat troublesome. Ever since Li Wan had reunited with the Beijing City Li Family, her and Su Qing’s status had changed. It would be inconvenient for Su Qing to go to Xiangcheng as herself. After thinking for a while, she decided to use a trip to Yun Province as a cover, planning to secretly disguise herself to visit Xiangcheng.

When Li Huan learned Su Qing was going to Yun Province, she wanted to go along. But because Su Qing was going on business, Shang Yuqi didn’t allow it. She was afraid Li Huan was too flighty and would get in the way of Su Qing’s work.

But on the train to Yun Province, Su Qing was stunned to see Li Huan appear right before her very eyes, looking as fresh as a daisy!
