Chapter 286: Chapter 286: Qingqing, You’ve Grown Up So Much
Su Qing shook her head and said, "Whether or not I’ll acknowledge you as family is something for my mother to decide after she fully recovers. After all, she’s the one whose life was stolen, and she’s the one who was hurt."
Shang Yuqi said quickly, "Xiao Qing, you were hurt in this matter too. We truly want to make it up to you."
Su Qing gave a faint smile. "It’s true I suffered some harm when I was a child, but I’ve already gotten my revenge. As for acknowledging you as family, I still think my mother should be the one to decide after she recovers. As long as she accepts you, I’ll have no objection."
The Li family understood what Su Qing meant. This girl trusted more in her own abilities than anyone else’s. During their investigation, they had, of course, uncovered the abuse Su Qing had suffered at the hands of the Old Su Family. However, they had also found out how she had later forcefully separated from the Old Su Family, putting every last one of them in their place.
The Li family had no intention of letting the Old Su Family get away with how they had treated Su Qing. Their investigation revealed that some members of the Old Su Family had already reaped what they sowed. However, others who had bullied Su Qing had not yet faced any consequences, and Li Fenghuo had already begun to take action. The Li family, however, didn’t plan on telling Su Qing the details.
In truth, the Li family already had a good grasp of Su Qing’s character from how she dealt with the Old Su Family. They had come today hoping she would be swayed by familial bonds, but it was clear that Su Qing’s connection to them was still tenuous. The only person she truly cared about was Li Wan.
Understanding this, Mr. Li sighed and said, "Alright. We’ll talk about this again after your mother has fully recovered."
"Okay," Su Qing nodded.
"But about your mother’s condition," Mr. Li asked, his heart heavy with worry. "What did the doctor say? Is there any hope she’ll make a full recovery?"
From Li Aiguo’s confession, Li Jiarui knew that there was basically no chance of recovery for someone given those drugs. And yet, seeing Li Wan’s improvement over the past few days, the Li family still clung to the hope that she could get better.
Su Qing nodded. "Don’t worry. The doctor says there’s a very good chance she’ll make a full recovery."
"That’s wonderful, that’s wonderful." Hearing this, the Li family all nodded happily, a collective sigh of relief passing through them.
Mrs. Li quickly asked, "Xiao Qing, can we come and visit your mother often?"
Su Qing nodded. "Yes, but you mustn’t disturb her rest."
"Of course," Mrs. Li said quickly, her heart filled with joy. ’I’ve finally met my own daughter. I really wish I could stay by her side every second, but that’s obviously not possible. As long as I can see her often, that’s good enough.’
Even though Su Qing hadn’t agreed to officially acknowledge them, the Li family was still very happy with how the conversation had gone. At least, in their eyes, she wasn’t pushing them away.
After their talk, the Li family returned to the hospital room and cautiously interacted with Li Wan. Although Li Wan didn’t know them, she could keenly sense they meant her no harm, so she didn’t shy away from their presence.
This made Mr. and Mrs. Li ecstatic. In the days that followed, they came to visit Li Wan every few days, always bringing her some delicious food.
Gradually, Li Wan grew familiar with the Li family.
As Li Wan’s treatment progressed, Su Qing secretly infused her body with the green mist each day. Li Wan’s health improved visibly, and with the combined effects of the medicinal powder and the green mist, the scars on her face faded until they were nearly invisible.
Finally, one day, Li Wan woke up and opened her eyes. She looked at Su Qing, who was sitting by her bedside, and tears slowly streamed down her face. "Qingqing," she said, "you’re all grown up."
