Chapter 493: Chapter 493: Actually, You Really Want to Be Mrs. Keaton, Don’t You?

Evelyn couldn’t hold back any longer and burst into tears, "Cece, don’t do this!"

"For the past few days I’ve been thinking, between the two of us, should one of us at least be happy?" Cecilia said softly, "Since I’ve been suffering for so long, and I’m used to it anyway, you should continue to be happy!"

After speaking, Cecilia hung up the phone.

"Cece!" Evelyn was anxious, "Cece! Don’t hang up! Cece! Wuwuwu— don’t do anything foolish!"

Evelyn immediately called Cecilia, but her phone was already turned off.

Without thinking much, Evelyn rushed to Yvette’s room without even changing out of her pajamas and pleaded urgently, "Please! Drive me to see Cece! Don’t tell Uncle yet, don’t say anything yet!"

Yvette glanced at Evelyn, didn’t say much, immediately understood, grabbed the car keys and took Evelyn out.

Evelyn gave directions while Yvette drove quickly, rushing to Cecilia’s house. Yvette easily opened the door.

At that moment, Cecilia was sitting on the bed at home, holding a knife, looking at her wrist, with a faint smile at the corner of her mouth, looking very eerie.

Yvette quickly stepped forward, seized the knife from Cecilia’s hand, removing the danger.

Evelyn also rushed up, grabbed Cecilia by the shoulders, and urgently said, "Are you crazy? Why seek death? A good life not cherished, are you hoping for a do-over in the next life?"

Cecilia looked at Evelyn, forcing a smile with difficulty, and softly said, "I didn’t want to die, I was just... praying, praying that my death could solve everything."

However, no matter how she thought about it, her own death had no meaning whatsoever.

"What problem does dying solve?" Evelyn cried out angrily, "Dying might end things for yourself, but it leaves pain for others—what does that solve?"

"Exactly!" Cecilia responded, "So, I found out, even death isn’t allowed by the cruel heavens."

Evelyn looked at Yvette, softly requesting, "Could you please wait for me outside? I want to talk to Cece alone."

Yvette hesitated for a moment, said nothing more, and went to the doorway.

In the bedroom, only Evelyn and Cecilia were left. Evelyn picked up a tissue to wipe away Cecilia’s tears, then combed Cecilia’s hair smooth.

Throughout the process, Evelyn’s lips carried a faint smile, but her amber eyes were filled with endless sadness.

"You crazy girl, you unknowingly ran off and got your hair cut short!" Evelyn said in a joking tone, "I suggested before that we both get short haircuts together, but you weren’t willing. For Julian, did you really start again from scratch?"

Pausing, Evelyn continued, "Actually, I noticed before, you love Julian, love him very much. You, who usually have no pursuits in life, actually want to be Mrs. Keaton, don’t you?"

Cecilia’s gaze shifted, her lips parted slightly, wanting to say something, but no sound came out.

"And Julian also loves you very much. Those days you disappeared, he came looking for me, and I could see his madness. If he lost you, he would truly go insane," Evelyn took a deep breath, then softly said, "I can’t help but wonder, if I went missing, would Uncle be this crazy?"

Evelyn shook her head, then said, "I think he wouldn’t. Because he wouldn’t even give me the chance to run away."
