Chapter 489: Chapter 489: Don’t Force Me!
The night lights stood like two rows of loyal sentries, illuminating the city swallowed by darkness.
When Caden Lockwood returned to the villa, Evelyn Morgan was still sitting in the bedroom, pondering whether she might already be pregnant.
Caden Lockwood opened the bedroom door, walked over to Evelyn, and gently said, "Aren’t you going to get up and greet your dear husband?"
Evelyn didn’t react, she didn’t hear what Caden had said at all.
Caden awkwardly tugged at the corner of his lips.
It seemed that Evelyn was so deep in thought, troubled by something.
He couldn’t help but reach out and gently tap her on the shoulder.
Evelyn jumped in surprise. Seeing Caden had returned, she reacted even more dramatically by getting up and fleeing.
As if being close to him would somehow increase the chances of her being pregnant.
"What’s wrong?" Caden frowned, "What are you thinking about, so lost in thought?"
"A baby!" Evelyn suddenly took a few steps forward.
She grabbed Caden’s arm, urgently saying, "I don’t want to be pregnant now, I’m not ready to be a mother!"
Caden couldn’t help but glance at Evelyn’s belly, joyfully asking, "Are you pregnant?"
"Not even close!" Evelyn reacted strongly, refuting, "What I mean is, I don’t want to get pregnant!"
Caden furrowed his brows, finally understanding the meaning behind Evelyn’s words.
She’s only twenty, still in university, not wanting to be pregnant right now, he could understand.
But what could he do?
He was eager for them to have a child!
"Isn’t being pregnant a good thing?" Caden half-seriously, half-jokingly said, "You’d have a child to play with, you wouldn’t be bored."
"Kiki and Aunt May can play with me!" Evelyn said irritably, "Who has a child to just play with?"
Before Caden could speak, Evelyn continued, "I haven’t even started pursuing my dreams. If I have a child, I’ll definitely not be able to pursue the career I want!"
"Silly girl." Caden shook his head helplessly, "You’re very career-driven?"
"I can’t just become a full-time housewife!" Evelyn said displeased, "I don’t want that kind of life!"
"After the child is born, Aunt May can take care of them during the day, and we can both take care of them at night. We still have our weekends; it won’t affect your career." Caden gently coaxed.
"It’s not as easy as you say!" Evelyn brushed off Caden’s attempt to hug her, "Of course, it’s not a problem for you men! After all, it’s not your bodies that get bigger, it’s not you who feels morning sickness, it’s not you who becomes less mobile. You just shout ’birth’ and then don’t care about the rest!"
"Honey." Caden seemed quite helpless, "Have you been watching too many dramas at 8:30, filling your mind with negative thoughts?"
Evelyn wondered, Caden knew about the 8:30 dramas?
Ugh!
This wasn’t the time for her to think about those things!
"Anyway, I don’t want to be pregnant!" Evelyn panicked, "Really don’t!"
Caden pressed his thin lips together tightly, saying nothing.
He was thinking.
"Don’t force me." Evelyn’s tone was soft, "I’m not ready to be a mom yet."
"Okay." Caden replied, "If you’re already pregnant, have the child; if you’re not, wait until you... are ready."
God knows how much courage it took for him to say those words, "are ready."
