Chapter 689: Chapter 689: Baraqiel Baraqijal (Part 7)
"You look concerned. Are you finally realizing that you’re facing a very real possibility of this battle ending with your defeat?" I inquired, narrowing my eyes at Baraqiel.
"Evidently so. Yes, it would be delusional to deny it. Even with my increase in power, it doesn’t change that fact that all of you are vastly superior to me in skill and experience. Still, it doesn’t matter, it doesn’t change what I need to do.
Even if I am unable to kill all of you, so long as I kill even a single one of you, defeating the other two Angels will become that much more difficult. I may lose, but I shall still fight. Do your best to survive, humans," He replied with a smirk, as lightning erupted and wrapped around his entire body.
He seems to be enjoying this...
He then shot towards me, a vicious crackle ringing out as he zipped through the air and closed in on me in the blink of an eye. I swiftly activated Ravage: Cloak again, before he suddenly triggered a blinding flash of light, forcing my eyes shut.
I flew back while ascending higher, focusing on my hearing-...hm? He’s moving away from me. I see, he knows he can’t damage me while Ravage: Cloak is active, so he must be targeting the others.
And I can’t take down Ravage: Cloak until I can open my eyes again. This isn’t good...I only have about half a minute before my Spirit Fusion with Acedia runs out. And the same goes for Ciel and Cleo, they activated their current Spirit Fusions at the same time I did.
That said, I still have Descent up my sleeve, not to mention Spirit Fusion with the other Apostles, Cleo has her other two Spirits too. But Ciel’s in a tough spot. She’s untouchable so long as her Spirit Fusion is in effect, but once it wears off, she’ll revert to her base form, she doesn’t have any other power boosts to call upon.
I then deactivated Ravage: Cloak as I managed to get my eyes open, my vision blurring slightly, before I spotted Baraqiel attacking Cleo, steadily starting to overwhelm her.
She gasped in pain as he struck her right side with his fist coated in lightning, turning a chunk of her flesh to ash. Cleo gritted her teeth before triggering an atomic shockwave, blowing Baraqiel back a few meters across the ground.
She then swiftly backed away as a volley of explosions came raining down towards the Angel, who quickly raced away to evade them, a chain of deafening booms erupting as the explosions peppered the ground.
He’s adapting and improving at a remarkable rate, his movements are steadily growing sharper. We can’t afford to let this drag on for too long.
I took aim and unleashed Obliterate at thirty percent as I shot towards Baraqiel, erasing his head clean off his shoulders before he could react, but it didn’t hit his Halo, the purple energy getting warped around the glowing golden ring.
Baraqiel’s head rapidly grew back, before quickly flying back as Ciel got below him and launched herself straight up with a powerful explosion. She whipped her Explosion Blade up as she closed in on him, the tip of the blade grazing his chest before erupting with a devastating impact.
He got sent hurtling across the air, before crashing onto a pile of rubble with a deafening crash. Ciel raised her left arm up as she began to plummet back down, a large, swirling sphere of explosive energy charging up.
As the pile of rubble shifted, she swung her arm down and launched the dark red sphere straight towards it, Baraqiel emerging from the rubble right as the sphere closed in.
He scrambled to try and get out of the way, right as a devastatingly powerful explosion burst out, the entire area shaking violently as a crushing shockwave erupted. Clouds of dust burst out as bits of concrete flew out all around the blast zone, deep cracks spreading out across the ground.
The dust clouds thickened as a secondary shockwave burst out, a figure zipping out of the dust as the explosion began to settle. Most of the right side of his body was gone, though it was already regenerating, at a rapid speed.
Time’s up...
I felt my power drop as my Spirit Fusion with Invidia reached its limit, Ciel and Cleo reverting to their base forms too.
As Cleo’s Atomiguana Spirit and Rex reappeared, along with Acedia, Rex swiftly hopped onto Ciel’s back, a reluctant look in his eyes as he clung to her. I see, not a bad move...it’s just like how Jaden doesn’t need to fuse with his Rejuven Spirit, it’s just as effective if it simply clings to him.
That said, Ciel’s now lost a significant amount of speed and mobility, she won’t be able to move around much.
Cleo then switched to Spirit Fusion with her Vampire, her hair turning white, except for the blue-dyed ends which remained the same. Her skin turned paler and began glowing, the top of her ears narrowing into a more pointed shape, as her teeth and nails extended into fangs and claws.
Hm, should I use Descent, or-...?
"We’re back!" Suddenly came mom’s voice, as a roaring wave of Ether came barreling towards Baraqiel, who unleashed a crackling blast of lightning to cancel it out. freeweɓnovel.cøm
Excellent timing...
"Now, <Spirit Fusion, Apostle of Greed: Avaritia>."
Glowing, jet-black fur sprouted across my entire body, my hair stiffening and spiking up on end. A white stripe of fur appeared down the middle of forehead, along the bridge of my nose and upto to the tip of my nose, as my teeth and nails sharpened and extended into fangs and claws.
I still have more than fifteen minutes left with Enrage, and I’m yet to use Descent, since I can’t stack it with Spirit Fusion. Still, fusing with Avaritia, and the same applies to Gula, gives me a higher power boost than Descent does.
"<Spirit Fusion, Angel: Satan>!" Exclaimed mom, her hair turning golden blonde and a halo appearing above her head as her body began glowing.
"Hm? There are beings known as Angels among these otherworldly Spirits? And you named yours Satan? I don’t know who you are, but I find that somewhat...vexing," Frowned Baraqiel, an annoyed look on his face.
