Chapter 156: Beautiful Vice Dean
Fabian turned to the Inner Palace disciples.
Take the newly recruited disciples to the Outer Palace," Fabian instructed briskly. "Handle their registration, distribute their identification tokens, and assign them to their respective residences. Make sure they clearly understand the academy rules before the day is over."
"Understood, Preceptor Fabian!"
Grover, Navarre, Calanthe, and other Inner disciples spoke in unison.
The Outer Frontier geniuses quickly bowed to Fabian before following their seniors.
Liana glanced back, her eyes lingering on Rhain and Seris for a moment before she also walked away with others.
Navarre also casted one final, venomous glare at Rhain before leaving.
Soon, the massive group had dispersed entirely.
Only Rhain, Seris, and Fabian remained.
Fabian finally turned his attention to the couple.
"You two," Fabian said, smoothing his stern tone into a gentle one, "Follow me."
Rhain and Seris exchanged a brief glance, before they followed Fabian.
As they walked, Fabian spoke without turning his head.
"Stormveil Academy is divided into three tiers," He explained, "Outer Palace houses the bulk of the student body — more than a thousand of disciples who have proven baseline talent. Inner Palace is reserved for the true elites who have demonstrated exceptional comprehension, cultivation, and combat ability There are roughly three hundred Inner Palace disciples at any given time."
Rhain and Seris listened attentively.
"And then there is the Core Palace."
Fabian’s tone grew heavier, "The standards for entering the Core Palace are extremely strict. To even be considered for the Core Palace, a genius must reach the eighth or ninth level of the Spirit Manifestation Realm before the age of twenty."
Both Rhain, and Seris were amazed at this brutal standard.
Eighth level of the Spirit Manifestation Realm before twenty — it was a standard so impossibly high that even the greatest prodigy of the Mirravele City wouldn’t have come within a hundred miles of it.
"Because of such demanding standards, there are only five Core Palace disciples in the entire Academy." Fabian continued, "The status and resources provided to these five disciples are even more than a few Outer Palace elders. And precisely because of that reason, the procedure for accepting a new Core Palace disciple is not something I, or any Preceptor, can authorize. It requires the personal approval of the Dean herself."
Rhain gave a slight nod. "I understand. That is why you are taking us to her directly." ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"Correct." Fabian quickened his pace, "With Seris’s physique, this matter cannot afford even a single day of delay. The sooner the Dean confirms her status and assigns her resources, the better."
They continued in silence through the Academy grounds.
The deeper they went, the more the architecture transformed to heavily warded corridors and ancient spirit trees in the corner.
After walking for another five minutes, they arrived before a serene and secluded floating island, hovering at the very apex of the Academy’s grounds.
A magnificent pavilion sat at its center.
However, standing silently outside the closed doors of the pavilion, with his back perfectly straight and his hands clasped loosely behind him, was a man.
He appeared to be in his fifties, with a head of neatly combed iron-grey hair and a pair of calm, deep-set eyes that seemed to contain entire worlds within them.
Rhain’s dark grey eyes immediately swept over the figure, but the moment his gaze landed on the man, his heart skipped a beat.
He couldn’t feel a single thing.
When Rhain tried to probe the man’s cultivation, it was as if he were staring into an empty void.
He stood there as if he was entirely blended into the natural laws of the world itself, as if he simply didn’t exist.
A chill crept down Rhain’s spine.
This was the first time since obtaining the Eyes of Truth that they had been rendered completely useless against a living person.
’So this is a true Domain Master Realm expert,’ Rhain thought, his dark grey eyes narrowing.
Fabian immediately stopped in his tracks, his usually authoritative posture melting into one of absolute subservience as he bowed at the waist with utmost deference.
"High Preceptor Aldren," Fabian greeted respectfully.
Aldren’s calm, deep-set eyes shifted toward Fabian.
"Preceptor Fabian," Aldren saw Fabian, and gave a small nod, "You have returned from the Outer Frontier. I trust the recruitment went smoothly?"
"It did, High Preceptor." Fabian straightened his posture. "However, I have an urgent matter that requires the Dean’s personal attention. It cannot wait."
Aldren’s grey eyebrows rose a fraction. "Urgent? What’s the matter?"
"I would not dare to exaggerate before you, High Preceptor." Fabian’s expression was deadly serious. "During the recruitment trials in Mirravele City, I encountered a candidate who activated the Origin Insight Tablet to ten thousand feet."
Aldren’s eyes widened, "Ten thousand feet? Preceptor Fabian, are you certain?"
"I witnessed it with my own eyes, High Preceptor. There is no lies in my words" Fabian stepped aside and gestured toward Seris. "This is Seris. I have strong reason to believe she possesses a True Heavenly Physique."
Aldren’s piercing gaze immediately locked onto Seris.
Seris felt as though an invisible mountain had been placed upon her shoulders.
It wasn’t hostile, but it was overwhelmingly vast.
"High Preceptor," Fabian continued, his tone turning even more serious. "That is not all. The young man standing beside her is Rhain. During the same trial, not only did he awaken a Spiritual Sense at the Essence Condensation Realm—a Spiritual Sense with a density that outshines most Core Formation experts—but he also inexplicably shattered the Origin Insight Tablet with a single touch."
Aldren fell silent for a long moment.
His eyes examining Rhain, and Seris back, and forth.
Finally, Aldren spoke. "I agree. This matter cannot be delayed."
His expression also turned solemn. "But Preceptor Fabian, the timing is incredibly unfortunate. Dean entered closed-door seclusion four days ago, and now It is entirely unknown how long it will take for her to come back."
Fabian frowned deeply, "Then what do we do now, High Preceptor?’
Aldren pondered for a moment, his brows knitted tightly together.
"In the absence of the Dean herself," Aldren finally said, "there is only one person with the authority to make this decision."
Fabian immediately understood. "Vice Dean?"
"Correct." Aldren nodded, "I will contact her now."
Without wasting another second, he raised his hand, sending a highly concentrated spiritual message directly into the sky.
A few seconds passed.
Swoosh—!
A streak of blue light descended from the sky, and landed gracefully before Dean’s gate, revealing a breathtakingly beautiful figure of a woman. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
She wore robes of deep blue silk, cinched at the waist with a belt of woven silver thread.
Her features were refined and elegant — high cheekbones, a straight nose, and a pair of sharp, intelligent eyes of sapphire.
She did not look a day older than twenty-five.
But the aura radiating from her slender frame told an entirely different story.
If Aldren’s presence was a tranquil, bottomless ocean, then this woman’s aura was a storm contained within a porcelain vase.
’She is stronger than the High Preceptor,’ Rhain observed silently, his dark grey eyes sharpening.
The woman’s sapphire gaze swept across the group.
"High Preceptor Aldren," she spoke, her voice clear and melodious, "What was the urgent matter that required you to call me so abruptly?"
Aldren immediately stepped forward to explain.
"Vice Dean," Aldren replied, gesturing toward the two youths standing behind Fabian. "Preceptor Fabian has just returned from the Outer Frontier. He has brought back a candidate who activated the Origin Insight Tablet to ten thousand feet, alongside another who shattered the tablet entirely."
The words landed like a thunderclap.
The beautiful Vice Dean’s sapphire eyes instantly snapped toward Seris.
