Chapter 216: Separation III (Unstable)

For a while, they sat in silence, the puppy sleeping, Aramith thinking, Mai brooding.

The puppy shifted slightly, seeking a more comfortable position.

"Mai, I want you to check something."

Mai nodded with her head lowered, then floated above him.

"I can check for any odd things in the realm now. I’m...okay," she suggested, knowing what Aramith would want her to do, but he shook his head.

"Let them search, I want you to check this creature, if you can find anything important."

Mai looked at the puppy, then back at Aramith.

If she scanned the realm, it would be faster than letting the wolves do it. She was about to question him when Aramith shook his head.

"I know what I’m doing, Mai."

She paused, then felt disappointed for questioning Aramith’s decision.

She raised her hand and gently approached the puppy. Just when her fingers brushed against the fur, it whimpered and shifted away.

"I..." Mai froze, looking at Aramith.

"Wait," Aramith focused his attention on the puppy, which looked restless in its sleep, whimpering softly.

He reached out to pat it, but the moment his fingers came into contact with it, a force invaded through his fingers, shooting a burning sensation through his hand. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

He tried to pull back, but his hand was stuck, and the puppy continued to whimper in agony.

Mai was frightened by the turn of events, and the force that kept flowing out worried her even more.

This was the same dark power Aramith wielded, but what she couldn’t understand was the source of the power.

It was coming out of the puppy instead, and seemed to be purer than what Aramith used.

The darkness emanating from the puppy didn’t explode outward or cause any disturbance around them, but Aramith was being attacked by it.

She tried to separate them, but was rejected by the force.

The pain spread from Aramith’s fingers, growing as it went up his arm, and the puppy was now crying in pain, as if it were being slaughtered.

When the darkness covered his forearm, a mini explosion occurred in the space between his fingers and the puppy.

All the darkness around his arm was ejected suddenly and shot into the puppy.

It woke up with a wail, then stood up in pain, opening its jaws.

With a bark, a ball of darkness was released from its mouth, after which it fell, limp.

Finally able to break in, Mai shot forward like a bullet and grabbed Aramith, quickly putting some distance between them and the troublemaker.

The ball looked more and more unstable, and even from a distance, they could feel the power from it. Mai looked pale, imagining what could have happened to Aramith if he had been closer.

She looked at his arm that was now normal, and felt a strange fear.

How is it that he couldn’t merge with his own darkness in his realm?

This was his realm, and he was the only wielder of darkness.

Controlling darkness and merging with it should be the most basic thing for him. He should be able to do that even in his sleep, yet there was a repulsion which frightened her.

And looking at the now unconscious puppy, she didn’t understand how it was able to use darkness, which seemed to be even purer than his.

Her eyes narrowed dangerously.

Aramith turned to her, feeling a shockingly strong killing intent.

Mai’s eyes had a faint red glint within them, and the gem in her chest looked darker.

"I’ll kill," she said with bloodlust.

Aramith grabbed her hand before she shot forward, and she turned to him indifferently.

"Master, I need to kill that thing." The bloodlust increased. "It’s dangerous."

Aramith gripped her hand, unsure whether the rage burning within her was her own will to protect him or another instability caused by the puppy.

"Wait," Aramith commanded, but Mai was being stubborn.

"It’s not going to bring anything positive to this realm, and the imbalance worries me. You could die. I have to protect you."

"I’m commanding you to stay back." He gripped her hand even tighter, and Mai frowned at this.

She argued some more, but Aramith rebutted her and forced her to stop.

He knew the danger this puppy seemed to bring, but what he wasn’t sure of was whether it was supposed to be left untouched or not.

Killing it could cause even greater chaos within the realm, and he hadn’t found out how to leave the realm yet.

Without enough answers, he didn’t want to do something he might regret later.

The ball released a stronger force, then expanded to about thirty times its original size.

A sudden stillness pervaded the realm, almost as if time had stopped.

"What happened?" Aramith asked, and the answer came faster than he’d asked with a crack.

The darkness disappeared, leaving behind a large crack that split like lightning.

Mai felt the change that occurred with the crack, and her eyes widened.

"What? Youm is pouring in."

"What do you mean?"

"It’s...like when you cultivate, but your body isn’t outside. How is there Youm entering?"

She trembled slightly. The Youm was even purer and stronger than any he’d ever absorbed. freewebnovёl.ƈom

"Quick, take me there!"

Mai nodded, understanding him immediately.

When they reached the crack, they felt the dense Youm pouring in.

He approached the crack and looked into it. Beyond it, he saw grass and thick trees.

"The space opened!" He recognized the place to be the core grounds he’d entered before being sucked in.

He glanced at the unconscious puppy and reached out to the crack.

The space was small, but his hand could pass through.

He tried to widen the crack, using all his strength, but it remained solid, only allowing his hands to pass through.

Reaching the goal but being unable to cross distressed him. After struggling for so long, he gave up. Mai tried as well, giving up with the first try.

It was pointless.

"We can’t affect space," Mai concluded.

A slight shift in the atmosphere alerted Mai. She looked at the crack, feeling a strong force getting closer and closer.

Aramith felt it too, his brows creasing slightly.

The force grew stronger and stronger, and Aramith felt familiarity, but as it was about to invade, the crack sealed up without any trace left.
