Chapter 214: First Meeting Between Caelum Nocthera And Alan Veritus (Both are my identities)
With my new Class, I started making a new automaton. It didn’t need to be too detailed, but since I was going to use it to meet Charlotta, I decided to be meticulate.
As I had said before, Charlotta fought like a beast. But it wasn’t just her fighting that resembled a beast, her instincts were like that too.
There was a chance she might notice that Caelum, the new member of System Church, and leader of P Corp, was an automaton.
After completing the Automaton, I used alchemy to create a second skin and clothes for it. The entire process took time, but the result was good.
I made the automaton wear blue eyes and white hair. By adding more clothes, it looked exactly like Caelum Nocthera, my other identity.
Creating runes to program and serve it was harder. It took me a lot of days.
After everything was done, I approached Henry.
"You ready?" I asked.
"Yes," he nodded.
He stepped with me through the door that I opened with me eye. We appeared in the real world, exiting the System Church headquarters that existed inside the Rank 5 Cursed Spirit, Bermuda Triangle’s domain.
"Move carefully. We can’t let ourselves be caught," I said.
While moving, I secretly switched myself with the automaton of Caelum Nocthera.
I, acting with my persona as Alan, the disciple of Monkey King, created portals to Charlotta’s house. She was cooking dinner for her siblings.
I knocked on the door and waited. She saw me, and quickly finished work before coming out.
Her eyes were filled with anxiety, hope, excitement, relief, and dread.
"You ready?" I asked
"Yes," she replied.
"Okay then, follow me," I said.
I created a portal. We stepped through and came out at the pub where Charlotta worked.
"Here?" she asked, confused.
"Henry came out to deal with the pub owner," I replied.
Her eyes widened, and she rushed inside. The pub owner was her father, and the reason why her mother died, and everything fell apart.
He didn’t even tell them he was their father. Charlotta had inferred from her late mother’s behavior, and obviously Henry had too.
"Henry!" she shouted, entering the pub owner’s room.
Henry stood in the center of the room, holding the pub owner by collar. The man was bloodied and his arms were bent at wrong angle.
Even if Henry was a kid, he was now a Saint. There was no way a normal human could fight him.
To the corner of the room was a man in white robs and glasses. He had white hair, and blue eyes. Next to him stood a giant in ceremonial robes that hide all parts of his body.
Charlotta’s eyes widened in horror.
"What are you doing!? Let him go!" she shouted.
"Sis," Henry’s face bloomed in genuine smile. "I was going to come to you after I finished the business here. It’s nice to meet you again after a long while."
"Let him go, Henry!" she shouted again.
The relief that had appeared at the beginning in her eye was no where to be seen. In its place was horror. The boy in front of her looked like her brother, but he was different.
’I bet she is thinking her cute brother can’t do things like this,’ I thought, sighing inwardly.
Henry stared at Charlotta for several seconds then sighed, letting the pub owner go. His body slumped to the ground.
"Fine. I won’t kill him. I wanted to, because of how he treated mom, and you. But I guess killing him will still make you angry," he said.
"Where have you been until now? Why are you saying things like this?" Charlotta asked, walking forward and grabbing his shoulders.
"I’m good, sis. As for where I have been... I was sold by this guy," Heny said, kicking the unconscious pub owner.
"I would’ve died honestly, if not for Doc, who saved me," he said, looking towards Caelum.
Caelum, my other persona, who was currently an automaton I created, waved his hand.
’With this, Charlotta should think of Caelum as a beneficiary, not an enemy—’
"So, it’s you who did to my brother," Charlotta spat.
Henry and my expression stiffened at the same time.
She continued, "Did you use some kind of mental magic on him? Is that why he is suddenly so bloodthirsty? Yes, that must be it. My brother will never harm even a fly otherwise."
"Sis, what are you talking about? Doc is—"
"Shut up."
Henry’s face twisted as Charlotta tightened her grip. He tried to escape, but failed easily.
His expression morphed.
"You became an Exorcist too?! When?" he asked.
"You are coming back home with me," she said, not answering his question.
"I’m afraid that will be impossible, Miss Charlotta," Caelum, the automaton, spoke up.
He took steps towards Charlotta. Suddenly, tiny mechanical hands came from behind him. They fused together, their gears turning, and formed two giant, mechanical hands that held two swords of similar size.
"Henry is an important asset of our System Church. The most I could do was bring him here to meet you. Letting him leave is not allowed," Caelum advised and warned.
"Stop me if you can," Charlotta spat.
Henry already looked worried. He knew the situation had gotten out of control. He was worried Caelum would harm his sister.
"Doc, please let me talk—"
"Don’t worry. I won’t harm her," Caelum replied, smiling.
But Henry was not assured. He knew how dangerous Caelum was. He had heard it from former director of P Corp. Caelum was the heir of the Legion, the last emperor of Nocthera Empire and a Rank 6 Exorcist.
At that moment, I stood forward, stepping between Charlotta and Caelum.
"Who might you be?" Caelum asked, raising brow.
"Stop acting like you don’t know me," I replied.
Caelum chuckled.
I—my current persona—was Alan Veritus, the disciple of Rank 6 Exorcist Monkey King, and the sole Space Mage on Earth.
Monkey King had killed the Legion, Caelum’s master, so it made sense Caelum was worried.
’No matter how many times I do it. It always feels weird controlling my automatons and talking to them like they are different persons,’ I thought.
I was both Caelum and Alan, but I couldn’t let Henry and Charlotta know that, so I spoke, "I’ve been hoping to meet you. Master always said that Legion was a coward who couldn’t fight properly, and if Legion had a disciple, it would be similarly coward."
"Weak? How about we try that?" Caelum asked, chuckling.
The giant mechanical hands shot towards me. I created portals to send them back.
The swiftly broke down into smaller hands, trying to fly around my portals.
