Chapter 258: GROWING FAMILY
"HYUNG, Daeho Hyung is really serious about putting up his baby for adoption," Gong Hanseo said, wrapping up his story. He told Seong Kyungmin about the conversation that he had with Kang Daeho. "In fact, he has already started working on the paperwork. He reached out to a private agency. That agency helps Omegas put up their unwanted babies for adoption."
After making a scene in the hospital lobby, Gong Hanseo asked Seong Kyungmin if they could talk somewhere else.
He thought his fiance would bring him to his office, but no.
Since it was already lunchtime, Seong Kyungmin brought him to a fancy restaurant. His lover booked a private room for them, so they could talk privately.
"What private agency did your sunbae reach out to?"
"It’s called ’Safe Haven Program.’"
"That’s a legit agency," Seong Kyungmin said, nodding. "Our hospital is a partner. Omegas who give birth to children they have put up for adoption are being assisted by the Safe Haven Program. I guess that’s what Kang Daeho is doing."
"Hyung, I heard that the agency allows potential adoptive parents to adopt children who haven’t been born yet..."
Seong Kyungmin nodded. "Yes, it’s possible to do that if the Omega personally endorses the potential adoptive parents. Of course, the agency will still run a few tests to determine if the potential adoptive parents really have what it takes to adopt a child. But if your sunbae endorses us, then the procedure should run smoothly."
Whew.
"Hyung, what do you think?"
"If you want to adopt the baby, then let’s do it."
"I hope you’re not making this decision just because I said I wanted a baby, Hyung."
"As I said before, whether we’re going to have a child or not is up to my partner," Seong Kyungmin reminded Gong Hanseo gently. "But don’t worry, Hanseo-ya. I’m not forcing myself. I can live without a child, but that doesn’t mean I won’t welcome the idea. A child we’ll raise together will be a precious part of our family, after all."
Aww.
"Then, Hyung, can we proceed with the paperwork?" Gong Hanseo asked excitedly, but his smile disappeared when he remembered something. "I want to secure Daeho Hyung’s baby."
"Hanseo-ya."
"Yes, Hyung?"
"You haven’t checked the requirements to be adoptive parents, have you?"
Gong Hanseo blinked, confused by Seong Kyungmin’s question. "Hmm?"
***
SO, Gong Hanseo and Seong Kyungmin weren’t qualified to adopt the baby.
I got too excited that I forgot about the requirements.
Hence, as soon as they got home, Gong Hanseo lay down on the bed with his face buried in the pillow.
No, he wasn’t crying.
But he wanted to.
Only married couples are allowed to adopt children...
It would be nice if Gong Hanseo and Seong Kyungmin just had to register their marriage before the wedding ceremony.
But that wasn’t enough.
To adopt a child, the couple has to be married for quite some time. For an Alpha and Omega couple, they only need to be married for a year. But if the couple is one Alpha and the other is a Beta, then they have to be married for at least two years. For a Beta couple, they have to be married for at least three years.
Gong Hanseo and Seong Kyungmin, as an Alpha-Beta couple, had to be married for at least two years before they could adopt a child.
He didn’t want to wait for that long.
What if Daeho Hyung’s baby gets adopted while we’re waiting?
"Hanseo-ya."
"Hyung, I’m okay..."
No, he wasn’t.
But he didn’t want his lover to worry about that.
"Hanseo-ya, who’s my father?"
"Dr. Seong Jungho, the director of Heesung Medical Center, one of our country’s top 5 hospitals..."
"Who am I?" fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
"Dr. Seong Kyungmin, a world-renowned doctor specializing in Alpha-Omega pheromones."
"You know that, and yet you’re still worried about not qualifying as adoptive parents?"
Gong Hanseo lifted his head, confused. "What do you mean by that, Hyung?"
"We’re not a chaebol, but our family has enough wealth and power to go above the law. The law only applies to the common people, after all. I know that I sounded like Song Sihyuk just now, but please let it slide this one time," Seong Kyungmin said, smiling apologetically. "Hanseo-ya, I promise you— we’ll secure Kang Daeho’s baby. We don’t need to go through the normal process that only applies to ordinary people. I’ll pull some strings, so don’t be upset."
Wow.
Gong Hanseo’s conscience pricked him.
He was a "common person," after all.
Well, yes. He was a celebrity. Hence, he was used to being prioritized.
But going above the law?
It can only happen when you’re with a big shot.
He still felt guilty, but...
"Hyung, I’ll appreciate it if you do that," Gong Hanseo said, giving Seong Kyungmin his best puppy-dog eyes. "I really want to adopt the baby, Hyung."
"And I’ll make it happen for you, babe," Seong Kyungmin assured Gong Hanseo, sealing his promise with a kiss. "I’ll give you anything and everything you want in this world."

"MAKE SURE to make the Omega sign an agreement in advance. We can’t have him changing his mind after giving birth to the baby."
Seong Kyungmin knew that his father, Seong Jungho, would be accepting of his decision to adopt a child with his partner.
Even so, he didn’t expect his father to be this supportive.
"And did you say the Omega doesn’t know who the father of his child is?"
"Yes, Abeoji. Kang Daeho claimed that he had several one-night stands after his divorce."
"Then I’ll assemble a team in charge of tracking down all the men that the Omega had been. It might take a while, but we will find the father of the child you’re going to adopt," his father said sternly. "You have to find the biological father and make him sign an agreement saying that he’ll completely give up all his rights as the child’s father. In that way, you and my son-in-law won’t encounter problems with the biological parents in the future."
Aww.
Seong Kyungmin smiled when his father referred to Gong Hanseo as his son-in-law. "Thank you, Abeoji."
"You’re overreacting. I’m just giving you sound advice."
"I’m just happy that you’re not against us adopting a child," Seong Kyungmin confessed. "Eomma is the opposite. For some reason, Eomma is obsessed with our bloodline."
"I’ll talk to your mother, so don’t worry about her. Just do what you and my son-in-law are planning to do," his father said. "But, Kyungmin-ah, are you really okay with adopting a child? You’re not only doing this because my son-in-law wants a baby, are you? Raising a child isn’t a joke, son."
"I know that, Abeoji. And I know what I’m doing," Seong Kyungmin assured his father. "So, please don’t worry too much."
***
IT WASN’T like Gong Hanseo didn’t trust Seong Kyungmin.
But he was still surprised when his lover took home the legal papers that assigned them as Kang Daeho’s unborn baby’s adoptive parents.
It was real.
They were now adoptive parents of the baby that they had chosen.
"Hyung, I’m so happy," Gong Hanseo said, hugging Seong Kyungmin. "Thank you for making this happen. I love you."
"I love you more, Hanseo-ya."
Gong Hanseo was truly happy at that moment...
... not realizing that it would cost him his relationship in the near future.
