Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Make Her Call Amanda Thorne
’A three-day leave of absence!’
Phone in hand, Georgia Thorne came inside and glanced at Elliot Sheridan, who was already looking at her.
"Georgia, come sit down."
The question ’What are you up to?’ was written all over Georgia’s face as she slowly shuffled toward him.
They sat on the same sofa, but the distance between them was wide enough to fit two more people.
Georgia truly didn’t dare get close to Elliot Sheridan.
But one look from him had her obediently scooting over until she was right beside him.
Only a fist’s width separated their arms.
Georgia had just straightened her back when he suddenly wrapped a strong arm around her waist, pulling her tumbling onto his body.
Her hand landed on his thigh to brace herself. Even through the fabric, his heat was searing.
She sat up straight, only to have a phone thrust in front of her face.
It was Elliot Sheridan’s personal phone. Georgia bit her lip, unable to fathom his intentions. "What are you trying to do?"
"Call Amanda Thorne."
"What?"
Elliot placed the phone directly in her palm. "I told you to call, so just do it. No more nonsense."
Elliot’s phone didn’t have a passcode. Georgia glanced at the man beside her and opened his contacts.
As she scrolled, looking for Amanda Thorne’s number, she saw that there weren’t many people in Elliot’s personal contacts—only twenty or thirty names.
’I’m just glancing at his contacts, but... if a man is willing to let you see his phone, it means he’s willing to tell you all his secrets.’
’That was something Nancy Hughes had once told her when she was bored.’
’It was just a casual remark, but she’d remembered it all this time.’ freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
Elliot suddenly leaned in, his breath brushing against the pale skin of Georgia’s neck.
She flinched and tried to pull away, but his arm just wrapped firmly around her shoulders.
"Dial it."
"Me?"
Georgia’s hand trembled, her grip on the phone unsteady. She turned her head in disbelief to look at Elliot, who was mere inches away.
’It was already unfair how handsome this man was. For him to be this close—so close she could count his eyelashes—was simply against the rules.’
Elliot grabbed Georgia’s hand, quickly found Amanda Thorne’s number, and pressed dial.
It only rang twice before the call connected.
’That was Amanda Thorne on the other end! If she found out I was with Elliot, there was no telling what kind of scene she would cause!’
Georgia gasped, immediately clamping a hand over her mouth.
She didn’t dare make a sound or even breathe too loudly, her eyes wide as saucers as she stared at him.
’The nerve of this man was unbelievable. Wasn’t he afraid?’
Elliot reached out and affectionately tapped the tip of Georgia’s nose, his arm still firmly wrapped around her shoulders.
The phone was right next to Georgia’s ear, and she could clearly hear Amanda Thorne’s voice from the other end. It was filled with pleasant surprise. "Elliot, what’s up? Did you need me for something?" freёweɓnovel.com
Elliot shot a cool glance at Georgia, who looked for all the world like a startled rabbit.
But Georgia wasn’t the only one startled; Amanda Thorne was surprised, too.
A moment ago, she thought she’d heard a woman gasp.
It must be said, a woman’s intuition when it comes to a man is a very sensitive thing, and often frighteningly accurate.
There had to be a woman with Elliot. As for who, she couldn’t possibly know.
"Amanda Thorne, let’s end it here."
"Wh-what?" Amanda Thorne couldn’t process it at first, her voice rising to a shrill peak in her astonishment.
"You heard me. I’m not interested in you anymore. We’re done."
His voice was icy. Before Amanda Thorne could react, Elliot hung up.
The call left not only Amanda Thorne reeling, but also Georgia, who was sitting right beside him, completely bewildered.
Elliot placed the phone back in Georgia’s hand, a smirk playing on his lips. "Georgia, are you satisfied now?"
The phone immediately began to ring again. It was Amanda Thorne.
The phone buzzed incessantly in her palm, the vibrations making her hand tingle. She turned her head to look at Elliot.
She was too stunned to speak, her eyes asking the question for her.
"It’s up to you. Answer it, or hang up. I’ll do whatever you want," Elliot said, his voice softening as he left the decision entirely in Georgia’s hands.
’Answering was out of the question.’ Georgia stiffly turned her head, her gaze falling back to her own hands.
Without a second thought, she powered off the phone and tossed it back to him like a hot potato.
Elliot laughed. "Georgia, you’re so adorable."
"..." Georgia stared at him, speechless. ’Did he just break up with Amanda Thorne because of what I said in the bathroom earlier?’
Her lashes trembled as she watched the man lean closer and closer. The intensity in his eyes was captivating, enough to make anyone swoon.
"Georgia, from now on, don’t avoid me. Don’t resist me. Understand?"
All the strength seemed to drain from Georgia. Elliot’s actions had left her mind in a fog, completely unable to process anything.
He pushed her down onto the sofa with both hands, and the clean clothes she had just changed into were once again being stripped away.
She was terrified by what Elliot was doing.
’Breaking up with Amanda Thorne... the call hadn’t even lasted ten seconds.’
"Georgia, I have no feelings for Amanda Thorne. These past three years, getting close to her... it was all for you."
The man leaned close to her ear, his hot breath making Georgia flinch. She blinked, her confusion deepening.
’For me?’
"I haven’t touched her once in these three years. I’m sure you know that."
’He’d never touched Amanda Thorne? But Amanda’s smug, arrogant expression had always made it seem like their relationship was perfect.’
"How would I know!"
"You don’t? Little thing. Was all that ’essence’ I gave you for nothing? Or are you saying you don’t think I work hard enough for you?"
Georgia’s face flushed. "..."
’He’s such a pervert!’
Georgia had never really been able to resist Elliot Sheridan’s touch. It was only because Amanda Thorne stood between them that she felt she had to fight him off.
Now, hearing him say with his own lips that he and Amanda Thorne had never been intimate, she believed him instantly and without reason.
’They always say that when a man wants to get a woman into bed, he’ll spin all sorts of sweet lies to trick her.’
’And yet, she felt that what Elliot said was the truth.’
Her shirt was nearly off by now. Feeling shy, Georgia wanted to go into the bedroom.
Elliot found her request amusing. He held her shoulders down. "Be good. Let me have my fun out here first."
However, just as they were about to get to the point of no return, the sound of a door opening suddenly made Elliot freeze.
Startled, Georgia instinctively tried to hide herself in Elliot’s embrace.
"Someone’s here."
Georgia whispered. ’That’s the third time I’ve been scared half to death today.’
Elliot frowned deeply. As he turned his head to look at the newcomer, he didn’t forget to grab his shirt from the floor and cover Georgia with it.
"I’m sorry, Mr. Sheridan, Miss Thorne!"
Although the hourly cleaning lady had seen a thing or two in her time, she was getting on in years and couldn’t handle such a shocking scene.
Elliot narrowed his eyes in displeasure. This was the second time he’d been interrupted.
With one arm around Georgia’s waist and the other under her legs, Elliot scooped her up and carried her toward the master bedroom.
He placed Georgia on the bed, intending to continue, but he saw that the spot where he’d been holding her wrist was already turning red.
"We can’t. The housekeeper is out there," Georgia said, shaking her head. She couldn’t relax.
’She hated doing it when other people were around.’
Elliot frowned. "Then what do you suggest we do? I’m about to explode from holding back!"
If a man holds it in too often, he’s bound to run into problems.
