Chapter 188: Chapter 178: Didn’t I Tell You to Marry Me?! (1)

Many students in Georgia Thorne’s graduating class knew she and Zane Lennox used to be in a relationship. But after she slapped him, they went their separate ways.

No one expected that two years later, news of their marriage would suddenly break.

Like a Cinderella story, Georgia Thorne fulfilled every girl’s dream by marrying into a wealthy family in grand style.

Who would have thought that on the wedding day, Zane Lennox would just disappear?

All sorts of rumors flew around, creating a huge stir.

The marriage was left unresolved.

Nancy Hughes linked her arm with Georgia Thorne’s. "Don’t mind them. They’re just envious and jealous of you and Zane Lennox!"

"I think you’re the one who minds it more," Georgia Thorne said, hitting the nail on the head.

Nancy looked at her with remorse. "And whose fault is that!"

"Uh-huh, you worrywart little old lady!"

"Georgia Thorne, what did you just say!"

Nancy put on a straight face, intentionally glaring at her fiercely, but Georgia couldn’t help but let out a teasing laugh.

That nickname, "little old lady," had been given to her by Liam Sheffield, and Nancy would get worked up every time she heard it.

The graduation ceremony included a speech from the principal.

All the graduates were packed into a huge auditorium, where the principal stood on stage, speaking with passion.

Nancy yawned. "I’m so sleepy!"

After about twenty minutes, the principal suddenly announced there would be another speaker today.

A murmur went through the students below the stage, but they had no choice but to applaud reluctantly.

When a figure walked in through the entrance, a collective gasp could be heard from a large number of female students.

Beside her, Nancy also started shaking Georgia Thorne’s arm excitedly. "Georgia, am I seeing things? Is that Elliot Sheridan?"

Georgia and her friends were sitting at the back of the auditorium, very, very far from the stage.

Gazing at the dashing, high-spirited man on the stage, Georgia Thorne softly acknowledged it.

’Who else could command the attention of the entire room without even speaking?’

Watching the man’s every move on stage, Georgia couldn’t help but recall that time in Akashima.

’Last time, he came for me. What about this time?’

It just goes to show that when a handsome man speaks, even if it’s nonsense, people will listen intently.

The audience was silent, everyone listening carefully to every word Elliot Sheridan said.

Some of the bolder girls took out their phones and sneakily took pictures of Elliot.

The special speech lasted for forty minutes, ending with a round of thunderous applause.

Elliot Sheridan’s expression was calm as he swept his gaze across the audience before leaving.

This was the school’s largest auditorium, capable of holding at least a thousand students; it was impossible to spot someone in a single glance.

Yet, the moment the man’s gaze swept over, she distinctly felt their eyes meet.

The principal gave the closing remarks.

「At ten in the morning」

The sun was just right, and a gentle breeze did little to cool the heat. Nancy Hughes was in high spirits, pulling Georgia Thorne around to take pictures.

A lot of their classmates were taking photos with their advisors, so Nancy pulled her over.

While taking pictures, their advisor chatted casually. "Georgia, you’re a talented person. Your graduation project was the most outstanding in our class."

Georgia Thorne accepted the praise humbly. "There are actually still many areas that need revision."

The design she had submitted was actually very rough, a far cry from the one in the sketchbook she had lost.

"Mm, it’s just missing a bit of soul," the advisor offered frankly. "I know of a competition in mid-July. Would you be interested in participating?"

"I’ve already graduated. Is that still allowed?"

"Of course, you’re my student!" The advisor patted her shoulder in approval. "I’ll send you the competition details later!"

"Thank you, professor!"

The advisor went to speak with other students. Georgia felt tired, so she sat down on a chair and watched Nancy take photos with their classmates.

"Miss Thorne, I was wondering if you have a moment. Our president would like to see you."

Georgia Thorne had her eyes closed. She felt the sunlight above her get blocked, casting a shadow over her.

She slowly opened her eyes, and Owen Sawyer’s face came into view.

"Where is he?"

"In the car right over there."

"Miss Thorne..."

Owen Sawyer was afraid Georgia Thorne wouldn’t want to go and was just figuring out how to persuade her, but she suddenly stood up and walked toward the black car on her own.

Georgia had been sitting under the scorching sun for a while. Her face was flushed red, and her forehead was beaded with sweat.

As she got into the car, a blast of cold air washed over her, bringing immediate comfort.

Inside the car, Elliot Sheridan sat alone.

"Mr. Sheridan, is there something you needed to see me about?"

Elliot Sheridan stared at her in silence, his brow furrowing deeper and his expression growing more displeased the longer he looked.

Georgia was wearing a long, off-white bohemian dress, which made her skin look even fairer.

A good amount of new, dark hair had grown in at her roots, and it lay softly on her shoulders.

"Why is your hair growing so slowly!" ’When will it get back to its original length?’

Georgia hadn’t expected this to be the first thing he’d say. She replied sullenly, "It’s already grown a lot."

The space inside the car was small. Georgia pressed herself against the window, keeping a certain distance from Elliot.

Dissatisfied with the distance between them, Elliot frowned and leaned closer. His long fingers reached for Georgia, who subconsciously turned her head away, his fingers brushing against her.

His fingertips, now carrying her warmth, felt scorching hot. He then toyed with her long hair. "Have you thought about it?"

He was asking about *that* matter, and Georgia knew it.

But her face was a mask of confusion. "What are you talking about?"

Elliot Sheridan suddenly fell silent, his gaze turning vicious. He didn’t know if she was pretending not to remember or if she truly had forgotten.

He wasn’t about to repeat himself. His gaze grew even more menacing. "Get out!"

Georgia let out a short laugh, turned around, and pushed the car door open.

Before she could even plant one foot on the ground, her elbow was grabbed forcefully, and she was yanked back, crashing into the man’s chest!

The impact made Georgia’s head spin a little. Before she could react, the man’s questioning voice came from above her. "Who gave you permission to get out of the car!"

’Does this man have amnesia or something? How can he forget what he said just a second ago?’

The grip on her wrist tightened bit by bit. Georgia looked up and calmly met his eyes. "You told me to get out!"

Elliot Sheridan didn’t like seeing Georgia so calm; he much preferred to see her flustered.

The anger burning in his chest flared even hotter, making him wish he could burn Georgia to ashes.

"I tell you to get out, and you get out? Since when did you become so obedient!" Elliot’s eyes were cold. "I told you not to marry Zane Lennox, so why didn’t you listen to me!"

"You never said that!" Georgia struggled, trying to pull her hand free. "You never told me not to marry Zane Lennox!"

"How could I not have said that? Didn’t I tell you to marry me!" Elliot was so angry he felt like he was about to suffer internal injuries. "You’ve really got some nerve. First, you shamelessly propose to another man, and then you wait at the wedding venue until dark. Do you have any idea that the whole of Portmire is laughing at you right now!"

The more Elliot spoke, the angrier he got. He wished he were squeezing her neck instead of her wrist.

’She’s so disobedient, maybe I should just strangle her!’

’But then again,’ he thought, ’I can’t bring myself to do it. If I strangle her, who will marry me?’

"So what? I have my own life. Why should I care what other people think!"

"You!"

Elliot glared at her viciously, but Georgia met his gaze without fear.

As if certain he wouldn’t actually do anything to her, she said even more boldly, "Let me go! I want to get out!"

The car was small to begin with, and in their argument, they had unconsciously moved closer.

Elliot watched her crimson lips open and close right before his eyes. A surge of irritation rushed to his head, and he grabbed the back of Georgia’s head and kissed her.

It was a forced kiss!

Georgia’s watery eyes widened as she stared at the handsome face so close to hers, and she bit down hard on his tongue without hesitation.

When Nancy Hughes came back from taking pictures, she didn’t see Georgia. Just as she was about to pull out her phone to call, Georgia came running over in a hurry.

"Where did you go?"

"Just went to the restroom."

Georgia smiled awkwardly. Nancy looked at her, half-believing, half-doubting.

Suddenly, she moved in close to Georgia, staring intently at her lips. "Why are your lips bleeding?"

"I accidentally bit it!"

She nudged her with her shoulder and grinned mischievously. "I’m your best friend, and you won’t even tell me this? Did you sneak off to chat with some guy while I was gone?"

Georgia denied it. "No!"

"Really?"

"Really!"

Nancy studied her serious face and dubiously believed her.

’Besides, there’s no way Georgia would fall for any of the guys at school.’

In the afternoon, after lunch, the two of them took a car back.

Nancy noticed that Georgia was in a great mood the entire way, smiling constantly.

It had been a long time since she had seen her laugh so genuinely.

Before returning to their apartment, the two of them made a trip to the supermarket first.

Each carrying a shopping bag, they walked slowly, chatting as they went.

"These four years have gone by so fast. In the blink of an eye, I’ve graduated. I can still remember when I first started school!" Nancy said with emotion.

Georgia didn’t deny it. Looking back further, she could even remember things that happened in high school.

The walk from the supermarket to the apartment was only about ten minutes.

The two of them strolled leisurely to the apartment building and saw a car parked downstairs.

A man’s figure was leaning against the car. Under the streetlights, sharp-eyed Nancy caught a glimpse of his face. "Hey, doesn’t that look like your uncle!"

Georgia acknowledged it and had already walked slowly over to Justin Sullivan.

"Um, you two chat. I’ll head up first!" Nancy took the shopping bag from Georgia’s hand and, not wanting to be a third wheel, hurried upstairs.

’The relationship between Georgia and this "uncle" of hers is a messy one, too!’

Georgia didn’t speak, so Justin Sullivan grew a bit impatient. "Georgia, are you angry?"

"Why would I be angry?" ’Where did that come from?’

"You must be angry, right!" Justin Sullivan turned Georgia around by her shoulders. "Why could you choose to marry Zane Lennox, but you can’t choose me!"
