Chapter 133: Chapter 129: Leave That Man

On closer inspection, the dress Georgia Thorne was wearing was indeed her work.

’Did she alter it?’

The alterations were truly breathtaking.

When Joanne Donovan saw Georgia Thorne, she frowned instinctively. ’How did that dress change!’

Joanne Donovan didn’t like Georgia Thorne. When Zane Lennox had called her to borrow an outfit, she had been unwilling.

But after seeing the long dress on the hanger, and picturing it on Georgia, she had agreed.

Only a model could pull off a long dress like that.

Joanne herself had to wear fourteen-centimeter heels just to capture the dress’s full charm.

She had originally planned to wear this dress to the banquet tonight, but after some thought, she’d changed her mind.

She had thought Georgia Thorne was just some unremarkable girl. ’Looks like I really underestimated her!’

"Joanne, happy birthday."

Zane Lennox wrapped his arm intimately around Georgia Thorne. Georgia smiled. "Miss Donovan, happy birthday!"

Joanne Donovan beamed. "Thank you!"

Her gaze fell upon Georgia Thorne. "I never expected Miss Thorne’s talents to be so... surprising!"

A black car sped down a deserted highway.

Inside the dim car, there was dead silence.

Georgia Thorne’s smile grew even brighter. "As it happens, I majored in design."

In other words, designing or altering clothes was a piece of cake for her.

Joanne’s original plan was to have Georgia Thorne attend the banquet in an ill-fitting dress and be ridiculed.

But she had overlooked Georgia Thorne’s skills.

Nora Rhodes, who was standing nearby, became interested. "Which school did you graduate from?"

"Portmire U."

"What a coincidence! Looks like you’re my junior," Nora Rhodes said, as if she’d just discovered glittering gold. She extended her hand. "Hello, I’m Nora Rhodes. Just like you, I’m also from the design school at Portmire U."

Georgia Thorne was a little dazed. To run into her here, of all places... She hurriedly extended her hand. "Hello, Miss Rhodes."

’Nora Rhodes,’ Georgia Thorne murmured, finding the name incredibly familiar, as if she’d heard it somewhere before.

Suddenly, a flash of insight struck, and her eyes widened. "You’re the senior, Nora Rhodes, who was personally recommended by the university to join Archetype!"

Georgia Thorne suddenly sounded as if she’d met her idol, her voice rising in excitement.

Nora Rhodes smiled. "Am I that famous?"

Georgia Thorne nodded, her cheeks flushing with excitement and her eyes growing a little teary.

At Portmire U, Nora Rhodes was an absolute legend.

After seeing a series of her works, Georgia Thorne had been deeply impressed by her talent and creativity.

Archetype Design was a famous design firm both domestically and internationally. People were breaking their necks to get in, with no guarantee of success.

Georgia Thorne had submitted her resume to them once, but it was like a stone sinking into the ocean—she never heard back.

But Nora Rhodes had been recommended directly by the university, which was proof enough of her talent.

Nora Rhodes found herself quite liking this young woman. At the very least, she loved the design of the dress she was wearing.

Georgia Thorne felt she had absolutely made the right choice coming today, to actually meet her idol.

Zane Lennox squeezed her waist. "That happy?"

Her face was flushed, and her eyes held an irrepressible excitement.

To be honest, even though it was another woman, Zane Lennox didn’t like seeing Georgia Thorne look at someone else with that kind of expression.

It put him in a foul mood.

"Zane, there’s something I want to talk to you about." Joanne Donovan glanced at Georgia Thorne, her eyes landing on Zane Lennox’s face.

Her soft voice was impossible to refuse.

"You stay right here, you hear me? Don’t you go anywhere," Zane Lennox warned Georgia Thorne in a low voice before letting go and walking away.

He followed Joanne Donovan outside.

Georgia Thorne was completely overwhelmed by meeting her idol and didn’t even register Zane’s warning.

"Which design firm are you working at now?" Nora Rhodes was very interested in Georgia Thorne, wondering if she could poach her for her team.

Georgia Thorne looked a little embarrassed. "Um, I’m not actually working in the field right now."

"Why not? The fact that you could alter my dress like this proves you have talent. Why aren’t you working at a design firm?" Nora Rhodes looked at her, surprised.

Georgia Thorne fiddled with her fingers. "It’s not good. The dress is full of flaws. I ruined the style you designed."

Of course, Nora Rhodes could see the flaws, but for a newcomer, it was more than enough.

"Perhaps you could consider coming to my company." freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

"Really?" Georgia Thorne couldn’t hide her delight. Nora Rhodes crossed her arms. "A diamond in the rough should be properly cut and polished, not left buried."

"I’m confident you’ll be the most outstanding person I’ve ever mentored."

Georgia Thorne was so flattered by Nora Rhodes’s praise she could hardly believe it. "Actually, I submitted a resume to Archetype before, but I guess it was rejected."

Nora Rhodes took a business card from her purse. "My number is on here. You can call me anytime."

"Okay, thank you, Miss Rhodes!"

Georgia Thorne had never felt so wonderful. To think she’d actually earned Nora Rhodes’s appreciation.

In the design world, Nora Rhodes was nothing short of a living legend.

Georgia Thorne and Nora Rhodes talked about so many things they could hardly stop.

"I had no idea you were so smitten with me. Aren’t you afraid your boyfriend will get jealous?" Nora Rhodes teased.

Georgia Thorne was about to say she wasn’t afraid, but then she caught herself and corrected, "Zane Lennox isn’t my boyfriend."

Nora Rhodes let out a noncommittal "Oh?" and raised an eyebrow.

’So they haven’t confessed yet?’

Georgia Thorne clutched Nora Rhodes’s business card tightly in her hand and headed to the restroom.

As she passed a corner, Georgia Thorne heard Zane Lennox’s angry voice.

She almost thought she was imagining it in this deserted spot.

Georgia Thorne peeked around the corner. A man and a woman were tangled together.

The woman’s back was to her. Although she couldn’t see her face, the deep red, backless long dress was one she recognized. It was Joanne Donovan.

As for the man, his handsome, cold profile was visible. It was definitely Zane Lennox!

’How could those two be wrapped up together?’

Georgia Thorne instinctively pressed herself against the wall, her mind in a whirl.

Joanne Donovan was pressing nearly her entire body against Zane Lennox. "Are you that fond of that little brat? Have you forgotten our wonderful time in Alira?"

"For seven whole days, we were tangled up in our hotel room. You told me you liked me, have you forgotten?"

Zane Lennox grabbed Joanne Donovan’s outstretched hand. "That’s all in the past. Why bring it up now?"

"I want you to remember. I want us to go back to how we were!"

"Look, you’re responding to me! That means you still have feelings for me!"

"Joanne, are you insane?"

"Insane? Maybe I am," Joanne Donovan chuckled lightly.

"Ugh..."

Georgia Thorne couldn’t bear to eavesdrop on the rest. She turned and walked away.

She just wanted to use the restroom, and she had to run into such a mess.

Honestly, she never would have imagined Joanne Donovan was involved with Zane Lennox, and so deeply at that.

’In her interviews, she’s always going on about how much she loves Elliot Sheridan. Is this how she loves him?’

’No wonder. From the moment we met, Joanne Donovan’s gaze held a trace of hostility.’

When Georgia Thorne came out, she ran into Nora Rhodes.

Nora Rhodes glanced at her. "That was quick."

Georgia Thorne just smiled and didn’t say anything.

She quickly tried to erase the image of the two entangled in her mind. ’Zane Lennox has nothing to do with me.’

On the other side of the room, Amanda Thorne, who was chatting with a man, was surprised to see Georgia Thorne was also there.

And looking so beautiful, no less.

Time was a funny thing. When she first came to the Thorne Family, she was just a scrawny little thing, and in the blink of an eye, she had blossomed into such a beauty.

’Too bad she’s just a tramp some old man slept with. No matter how beautiful she becomes, it’s still a waste!’

Amanda Thorne had no interest in Georgia Thorne. Her interest lay with Nora Rhodes, the person Georgia was talking to.

Nora Rhodes’s reputation in Portmire was immense. Getting her to personally design an outfit was harder than climbing to the heavens.

In Portmire, countless socialites and heiresses couldn’t hire her, even with a fortune.

Amanda Thorne had also called Nora Rhodes once, asking for a custom design.

Nora Rhodes had passed the phone directly to her assistant, who said the waiting list was a year long and asked if she still wanted to book an appointment.

She politely excused herself from the man she was talking to and headed in Nora Rhodes’s direction.

Seeing the two of them chatting happily, Amanda Thorne put on a warm smile. "Georgia, what are you doing here!"

The voice was so full of pleasant surprise that if Georgia hadn’t known it was Amanda Thorne, she would have thought she’d misheard.

Georgia Thorne turned her head. Amanda Thorne’s smile grew even brighter. "Georgia, you’re here! Why didn’t you tell me? And you know Designer Rhodes?"

Nora Rhodes knew Amanda Thorne. The woman was arrogant, and ever since she’d gotten together with Elliot Sheridan, she’d become even more domineering and looked down on everyone.

Before Elliot Sheridan had dumped her, she had even arrogantly called Nora, demanding a personal design.

Nora Rhodes had no good impression of Amanda Thorne. Hearing her haughty tone, she had immediately transferred the call to her assistant, claiming she was too busy.

There was no way she would take a commission from Amanda Thorne.

"Designer Rhodes, I’m Georgia’s older sister, Amanda Thorne!"

"Hello," Nora Rhodes said with a cool smile, then turned her gaze to Georgia Thorne. "Georgia, I just remembered I have something to take care of, so I’ll be leaving now."

Nora Rhodes’s smile vanished. She gave Amanda Thorne a cold glance, then turned and strode away on her high heels.

"Okay!" Georgia Thorne didn’t try to stop her.

With Nora Rhodes gone, only the two sisters were left in that area.

Amanda Thorne dropped the act. "What are you doing here?" she said menacingly.

"Zane Lennox brought me."

"Hah. Zane Lennox really treats you like a treasure, doesn’t he?" ’For a tramp that some old man already slept with!’

Georgia Thorne just smiled, unfazed. "And you, Sis?"

Amanda Thorne’s brow furrowed. Just as she was about to lash out, her eyes lit up, and she looked toward the entrance.

Following her gaze, Georgia saw a man walking in.

Dressed in a black formal suit, his powerful aura made him seem like a king of the night making his grand entrance.

He wore a black suit over a white shirt, complemented by a navy-blue tie.
