Chapter 1206: Chapter 1206: Last Night Was Just an Accident
Watt Bennet had a severe headache, trying hard to recall what happened last night, but he couldn’t remember anything.
Lorraine Hughes had been blushing ever since he asked that question, and it never faded.
She neither admitted nor denied Watt’s question.
Not admitting it didn’t count as deceiving him.
But not denying it was as good as admitting it to Watt.
Thinking about this made Watt’s headache even worse.
When going downstairs, Henry Hughes was waiting at the dining table.
For breakfast today, he deliberately added several extra dishes.
Just a breakfast, yet because of Watt’s arrival, he had prepared it as abundantly as a feast.
"Sit down!" Seeing Watt coming down, Henry gestured to the seat opposite him.
Watt guessed he wanted to talk about last night’s incident and, after some consideration, walked over and sat down.
But to his surprise, after he sat down, Henry didn’t mention last night’s incident at all, only served him food and invited him to eat.
As they were having breakfast, Henry talked to Watt about Lorraine, "Lorraine’s mom and I divorced when she was very young. These years, I’ve owed her a lot. As a father, I certainly hope that one day a man can appear by her side, be her support, so that I, as a father, can also be at ease."
"Mr. Hughes, I think you misunderstood, that person won’t be me," Watt said bluntly.
Henry paused, stopping his action of serving food.
Turning his face, his gaze shifted to Lorraine, who was coming down the stairs, with eyes questioning her about what was going on.
Lorraine’s face stiffened for a few seconds but soon calmed down, "Dad, Mr. Bennet and I have just met recently, last night was just an accident."
It was true that she and Watt had only met recently; she admitted it very straightforwardly.
Last night’s incident was an accident; what she really meant was that last night’s encounter with Watt was unexpected.
However, the word "accident" from the mouth of an average person tends to lead others to overthink.
At least Henry and Watt misunderstood completely.
Watt’s forehead throbbed with nerves, seemingly in pain over how to resolve this issue.
Henry was dumbfounded for a few seconds.
He was surprised by the first half of Lorraine’s sentence.
Did she and Watt really just meet recently?
Getting acquainted not long ago and already bringing him home, it seems his daughter is experiencing one-sided love...
The inexplicable discomfort in Henry’s heart was mixed with a great deal of pain for Lorraine.
He was naturally protective of Lorraine.
Afraid that saying too much would embarrass Lorraine, Henry timely changed the subject.
"Your young people’s world, I don’t understand, eat, eat!"
Watt was in no mood to eat at the Hughes’.
Last night he left abruptly, and Summer Sutton was unaware how long she searched for him, he’s still owed her an explanation!
"Mr. Hughes, I’ll find a way to sort things out. If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave first. I have business to attend to at the company," Watt said, pushing his chair back without looking at the two of them, and headed straight for the Hughes’ door.
He left hastily, as if in a rush to do something.
His first visit here, he wasn’t familiar with the direction and even took several wrong turns.
Watt seemed somewhat irritated, angrily kicking a tree in the garden.
Lorraine watched his figure as it went far, her mood sinking deep into a pit.
Whatever Watt was in a hurry to do upon returning, she didn’t need to think to know.
In such a situation, the first person he thought of must be Summer Sutton, right?
