Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Juicy Gossip

In the end, Faye did ask, but the Catgirl said it was her secret and she couldn’t tell anyone.

Faye could only accept it was a shame.

"Sis, look at the time. Let’s find a place to eat," Eamon said, glancing at the scorching sun overhead and pulling down the brim of his hat. Just because he was a Little Green Man didn’t mean he was immune to the sun.

"But didn’t we just eat and drink at the bar?" Yvonne Lynch pointed out.

Ethan Yardley rubbed his stomach. "That’s different. Let’s find a restaurant. The food here might be completely different from what we’re used to."

"Alright, let’s go. We’ll head into the first restaurant we come across."

It was a decision Faye had made, and she quickly came to regret it.

The first restaurant served all kinds of bugs. And they really meant *all kinds*.

Through the clear glass, they could see a plate on a table by the window. On it were deep-fried versions of the same kind of Stingerpillars they had killed before.

There were also plump, white worms still wriggling on a plate.

Faye immediately changed her tune. "You know, there’s always the second restaurant."

"Yep, I think we should go to the next one," Yvonne immediately chimed in.

Eamon pressed his face against the glass, drooling. "Sis, this stuff is delicious! Super delicious! Plus, eating it increases your Attributes!"

The moment he heard it could increase Attributes, Ethan fought back his nausea and said, "We could give it a try."

Faye gave her brother a long, hard look and silently took a step away from him. "Alright, you and Eamon go ahead and eat. Eamon’s got money, anyway. Yvonne and I will go to the next place on this street. If we don’t like it, we’ll try the next. You two can find us when you’re finished."

Eamon nodded instantly, already dragging Ethan toward the restaurant’s entrance.

Thankfully, the second restaurant looked much more normal. Faye and Yvonne had just sat down when they overheard the people at the table behind them discussing the GHA from Serenia, who were apparently selecting a group of people.

"Are you going to sign up?"

"I heard the world for this recruitment is out on the ocean. I don’t even have a boat. I don’t want to go."

"You idiot. The GHA will provide everything."

"I’m afraid of the ocean. I’m not signing up for such a small reward. You’re going?"

"Of course! A whole New World on the ocean..."

Faye pretended to read the menu, but her ears were pricked, listening to the people behind her.

"Miss, what would you like to order?" frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

The waiter interrupted Faye’s eavesdropping. She casually ordered a noodle combo. "I’ll have this. Yvonne, what about you?"

Across the table, Yvonne Lynch looked up from her menu, a blank expression on her face. "I’ll have the same as you."

"Of course. Please wait a moment."

Only after the waiter left did Faye notice something was wrong with Yvonne. "Yvonne, what’s wrong?"

Yvonne opened her mouth, but no words came out. Instead, tears began to stream down her face, giving Faye a real shock.

’What was happening? Did something strange happen right in front of her while she was busy eavesdropping on the people at the other table?’

The waiter soon returned, placing two identical meal sets in front of them.

"Please enjoy."

The noodle set, worth one silver coin, was actually quite delicious. Faye watched Yvonne, who was crying and simultaneously stuffing her face, and decided not to press the issue. She started eating.

As she ate, she kept her attention on the table behind her, hoping to hear more. But the two had moved on to other topics. Faye found their debate over which Miss Octopus was more beautiful grating to the ears.

However, when she overheard the bombshell that the little princess of Cephalia had taken a liking to Islander 98, Nora Nash—and that the recent commotion in Serenia was all because she wanted to take Nora back to Cephalia to get married—Faye suddenly found the gossip quite appetizing.

"The 25th of this month is definitely going to be a spectacle. Too bad I don’t have an Invitation Card. I can’t go to the island to watch it unfold."

"Heh heh, I just so happen to have one. I heard Island Master Nash already has a Lady of the Island. When the little octopus princess gets there, it’s going to be an all-out war."

"I heard the Lady of the Island is right here in Serenia. Just a bit ago, someone said they saw her at the bar on the summit. Let’s go take a look later."

Faye’s expression froze. ’They couldn’t be talking about *me* when they mention the Lady of the Island, could they?’

She felt so wronged. It wasn’t her!

’It was one thing to be mistaken for someone important when she was reaping the benefits, but it was another thing entirely when that misunderstanding could bring a super-powerful enemy to her doorstep. That was a complication she could do without.’

After all, she really was planning to go to Island 98 on the 25th. Island Master Nash had promised to pay her reward for saving his life then, and it certainly wouldn’t be any less than what his subordinate had given her.

’If that octopus princess couldn’t get what she wanted here, she’d have even less of a chance on Nora Nash’s own territory. She’d have to back down.’

Faye’s gaze traveled past Yvonne, who sat across from her, and landed on a strikingly familiar figure.

’No, it can’t be?!’

’Serenia must be cursed.’

Her heart hammered uncontrollably in her chest. Right now, she had a whole string of profanities she was dying to unleash.

’Why is a zombie from the Zombie Dungeon dining in a restaurant?!’

’She’d been able to bring Yvonne Lynch out because the system had identified her as a person, a key figure who could leave with permission.’

’So how did this High-Level zombie manage to leave the Dungeon?’

’Besides, hadn’t she killed him during her first time in Dungeon 1?’

’Did I kill a clone?’

Zane of the Zombie Clan raised his eyes, meeting Faye’s gaze. He even gave her a small, seemingly friendly nod.

Faye had calmed herself by then and was even able to offer a polite smile in return.

The Zombie Clan didn’t look much different from humans, which made sense, since they were originally converted from humans.

She drew her gaze back, letting it fall on the teary-eyed Yvonne. She couldn’t help but worry, afraid that the zombie might recognize Yvonne.

Because from the look on Yvonne’s face, it seemed she recognized him.

’This just made things complicated.’

"Yvonne, is it good?"

Yvonne desperately stuffed food into her mouth. A single blink sent a fresh tear rolling down her cheek. She nodded hard, and the tears flowed even more furiously.

By the time they finished their meal, the members of the Zombie Clan had already left. Zane had glanced their way before leaving, but thankfully, he didn’t seem to recognize Yvonne, who was a sobbing mess slumped over the table.

When Ethan came over looking pale as a ghost, Yvonne was still crying.

"Can I get an order of something normal, please?"

Eamon looked at him, puzzled. "Weren’t you having a great time eating earlier, big bro?"

Thinking about the sensation of live bugs bursting in his mouth, Ethan’s face turned even paler.

After leaving the restaurant, the four of them headed straight back to the treehouse hotel. freёweɓnovel.com

After carefully placing Yvonne, who had cried herself unconscious and whom he had carried on his back, onto the bed, Ethan said to his sister, "You two get some rest. Eamon and I will go wander around the city some more."

"Mm."

Faye looked at Yvonne, who was still sobbing intermittently in her unconscious state, and felt a tangle of complicated emotions.

’She’d been ready to kill her back then. How did it end up with her taking care of Yvonne instead?’

"Yvonne, get a good night’s sleep. Everything will be better when you wake up. I’m just going to walk around a bit, I’ll be back soon." Not getting a response, Faye wrote a note and left it on the nightstand before heading out.

The moment the door clicked shut, Yvonne opened her eyes. Amid the glistening moisture, the color of her eyes seemed to have grown a little paler.

"Sis... *sob*..."
