Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Left Speechless Again
A battle where both sides rush in is a lot like love—it’s guaranteed to create the most intense sparks.
Leaping into the air, Faye Yardley swung her long saber straight at the giant Stingerpillar’s vital point.
The bug looked soft and squishy, but unexpectedly, the spines standing up on its body were incredibly hard, striking her saber with a shower of sparks.
’I knew it.’ She thought, raising an eyebrow. ’The system would never spawn a boss that could be killed in one hit.’
’How irritating!’
’Its body is protected by sharp spines, and its spit is not just sticky but corrosive.’
’Is this disgusting thing the best my super-high Luck Value can do for me?’
Even as she fought, Faye Yardley couldn’t help but get distracted for a moment to complain internally.
The Stingerpillar’s body was unnaturally flexible, moving like a snake.
It swung its tail, using the back half of its body like a club to sweep at Faye Yardley. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
Faye, who was still airborne from her leap, had no choice but to throw herself to the side. She hit the ground and immediately rolled away to evade the steel-hard spines.
Seeing the fight move farther and farther away from the raft, Willow Yardley quickly ran toward the spoils scattered across the ice.
She couldn’t help in a fight like this, but she was first-rate when it came to cleaning up the battlefield.
Since her backpack could only hold food, she quickly sorted through the loot, stuffed the food items inside, and then began carrying everything else to the raft in trips.
In fact, Logan Langdon, who had been watching from a distance, had noticed that the faint fluorescent glow was long gone. Now, the faint sounds of battle drifted over from that direction again, but they sounded different from the last two times.
However, he still hadn’t finished off the monsters that had spawned in his own area, so he couldn’t afford to run over and take a look.
His combat skills were still a little lacking, but he was already much better today than he had been yesterday.
’I need to finish this fight as fast as I can. It would be even better if I could make it over to Faye Yardley’s side in time for the fifth wave of monsters.’
’When it comes to building relationships, what reveals a person’s true character more than enduring hardship together?’
’Even though Faye Yardley always puts on a cold front that keeps everyone at arm’s length, doesn’t someone like that still need help?’
Sometimes, events unfold in ways that defy human imagination.
Just as Faye Yardley was thinking how incredibly difficult this huge Stingerpillar was to deal with, something absurd happened. First, it scraped its delicate underbelly on a patch of uneven ice. Then, to add to its bad luck, it was too heavy for the newly-formed ice over a hole Faye had previously cut. The moment the Stingerpillar followed where she had run, a loud CRACK echoed, and it plunged straight into the seawater below.
What was even more absurd was that the Stingerpillar couldn’t swim. The seawater stung the tiny wound on its belly, causing it to open its huge mouth. Water rushed in, making it sink even faster.
It takes a while to describe, but it all happened in an instant. Faye Yardley, who had been watching her enemy’s every move, could only stare dumbfounded. Still, she reacted quickly, taking out the Water-Repelling Pearl and jumping right into the reopened ice hole.
’A prey that basically delivered itself to me and committed suicide? I can’t just miss out on the rewards.’
The Stingerpillar’s blood was a sickening yellowish-green, looking just like thick, viscous snot.
She wasn’t the only one disgusted; the local marine life clearly felt the same, as all nearby fish and shrimp scattered.
Faye Yardley found that, in the water, she could easily slice open the Stingerpillar’s belly with her saber. It had no strength to resist; it was a sitting duck.
She finished it off in a few quick strokes and happily began collecting the small orbs of light.

’Is this all a boss drops?’
She had no idea her haul was already several times larger than what others would get.
Since she was already in the water, Faye Yardley decided she might as well look around, operating on the principle of "Well, I’m here now."
’It would be perfect if I could get lucky and stumble upon a Silver Treasure Chest.’
’And while I’m at it, I should look for some of those corrupted Sea Monsters. They’re basically treasure troves.’
Having rested for a whole night, Caleb Colby was a completely different person from the broken man on the verge of death he’d been the day before.
Though still wrapped in Bandages, he was now back to his lively, energetic self.
’You monster scum from under the ice yesterday, just you wait! Your granddaddy is coming to clean you up!’
’Knowing Faye Yardley was collecting Energy Stones, Caleb Colby decided he would clear out all the monsters today. If any dropped, he’d send them her way.’
’As for his own sworn brother, that could wait. Their bond was so strong he’d lay down his life for him without a second thought.’
Strolling along the seabed, Faye Yardley was in a great mood. She even managed to catch a lobster bigger than her face with her bare hands and picked up two Wooden Treasure Chests along the way.
’I guess this counts as my morning leisure activity,’ she thought.
’Why does the underwater world look so normal to me?’
’If I can’t even find these things in the sea myself, where does the stuff caught with that special fishing rod come from?’
’Whatever. There’s no point thinking about something so meaningless. The Survival World itself is the most unscientific and unreasonable thing there is.’
’Strange, where have all the corrupted Sea Monsters gone?’
Her raft was incredibly conspicuous from the seabed because it was covered by a transparent, curved protective shield. A fish swimming by too quickly would smack right into it and get knocked back.
Faye Yardley watched one particularly stubborn and dim-witted fish get knocked back, only to swim back, accelerate, and ram the shield again. It was flung back even farther this time, but it seemed to enjoy the process, repeating it tirelessly.
After a loop around the seabed yielded only those two visible Wooden Treasure Chests, Faye Yardley didn’t linger. She swam up from directly beneath her raft, punched through the ice, and climbed out.
"Sister, what are you doing popping up from there? Brother called again just now. I didn’t pick up. I put the things you wanted on the coffee table."
"Okay."
Faye Yardley climbed onto the raft first and went inside. She took out the two Wooden Treasure Chests, rubbed her hands together, and whispered a little chant, "Spirits of heaven and earth, Daddy System shines so bright, open up with all your might!"

"Hehe, my good luck’s still going strong."
Opening chests brought the simple joy of getting free stuff.
She put ten of the Delicious Little Breads into a "Luck-Based Red Envelope" for the group chat, figuring it would be a nice little perk for her groupmates amidst the tense game.
Happiness was meant to be shared.
Then she called her brother. He picked up in under three seconds.
"You silly girl, why’d you go into a Dungeon without saying anything? Give me a heads-up next time. Oh, right, I’ve got two Energy Stones here. I’ll send them over in a bit."
"I know, Bro. I even got some good things for you. As for the Energy Stones, don’t worry about it. I’ve already managed to build an Energy Protection Tower. I’ll send you some when I have a surplus."
Her words once again stunned Ethan Yardley into silence.
