Chapter 62: Chapter 62: It’s It! One of the Zombie Leaders from Dungeon 3

’It’s that thing!’

Faye Yardley’s pupils constricted. For the first time, she felt that having too good a memory wasn’t always a good thing.

This was actually a zombie she had seen in Dungeon 3. Not one of the cannon fodder they had killed, but one of the leaders who had been the last to jump into the pit when the green light appeared!

However, it didn’t look nearly as imposing now as it had back in Dungeon 3. ’Either I’ve gotten stronger, or this zombie hasn’t reached its full potential yet during this first Dungeon.’

Faye Yardley was more inclined to believe the latter.

If it were the same as it was in Dungeon 3, its clothes would be neater, and it wouldn’t occasionally drag its feet as it walked.

Besides, since Dungeon 1 was a solo dungeon, it couldn’t possibly be a complete deathtrap, right?

After this mental assessment, Faye Yardley straightened up, her head held high and on full alert as she watched the zombie approach her step by step.

It drew closer. Less than three meters apart, they both stopped to size each other up.

GRRRR!

Heh!

Even the way they greeted each other was so peculiar.

Faye Yardley held the long saber in her right hand, the tip of the blade carving a long scar on the ground as she took the initiative and walked toward the zombie.

She abruptly swung her blade in a diagonal slash, but the zombie, as if it had foreseen the attack, leaped into the air, narrowly dodging the surprise strike.

Before it could even land, Faye’s next strike was already upon it.

Unable to find a foothold in mid-air, the zombie used its hard claws to block the long saber. The impact sounded like weapons clashing, yet the blow only left a shallow mark on the zombie’s claws.

Faye Yardley’s expression didn’t change. The failure of two consecutive strikes didn’t disrupt her composure in the slightest. The moment the saber and claws separated, the two had already switched positions.

The instant they switched, the zombie pounced like a tiger hunting its prey. Faye Yardley sidestepped to avoid it, her long saber already swinging up to meet it, aiming straight for the zombie’s head.

The zombie raised its claw and grabbed the blade, yanking hard as if to snatch it away. Faye Yardley used its momentum to close the distance. Her left hand, now holding a dagger that had appeared from nowhere, seized the opportunity to stab it straight into the zombie’s head.

This zombie had an extremely keen sense of danger. It violently jabbed with the elbow of the right arm that was gripping the blade and leaned back to avoid the fatal injury. Its left hand formed into a claw, swiping straight for Faye Yardley’s face.

Seeing it lean back to dodge, Faye Yardley instantly shifted her body slightly to the left, raising the dagger to stab at its eye socket. She tightened her grip on the long saber in her right hand, using it to lift the zombie’s claw and block the attack from its left hand.

SPLASH~

Cough, cough~

After climbing out of the ice hole, Ethan Yardley couldn’t help but cough a couple of times. ’Damn it, I was almost dragged down and drowned by that monster!’

But after killing the creature, which was much stronger than the previous ones, he had actually obtained an Energy Stone. This made him start looking forward to more monsters.

He took out a long spear, using it to help himself stand.

As soon as he returned to the raft, his "Grandma" robot butler carried him directly into the Wooden House. Just as she was about to thoughtfully help him with a bath, Ethan Yardley jumped up. "Grandma, I can do it myself! You should go outside."

"Alright. I will leave the spare clothes here then."

When Ethan Yardley came out again, he was no longer the disheveled mess he had been earlier. Grandma called him over for a meal, and he obediently ate.

"Ethan, according to the messages on the public channel, the monsters will spawn a total of five times, each wave stronger than the last. There are no reports of any more after all five are killed. You’ve already killed the final wave’s monster, so you can rest easy tonight."

Ethan Yardley was speechless.

’Wait, what? I was just planning to take a break and then keep killing monsters for Energy Stones when they respawned. My protective shield can wait, but I need to gather enough for my sister first.’

"Pierce, I can’t get in touch with Colby. Did he contact you before the event started?"

Zachary Pierce frowned at Eleanor Jonas’s words. "He just said in the group chat that he was going to kill all the monsters when they spawned. He didn’t say anything else."

"Then what do we do? It’s like he’s vanished."

"It’s okay. I’ll figure something out."

After hanging up, Zachary Pierce went to find Bonnie Callahan. He remembered she seemed to have an Invitation Card. No matter how long it was good for, the priority was to find Caleb Colby.

After soaking in the seawater for a long time, it no longer felt cold; it even felt warm.

Caleb Colby didn’t know how many Sea Monsters he had killed, nor how many times he had been dragged under the sea by them. The pain from his wounds had become a dull, numb ache. He had no idea how much blood he had lost, only that he was growing weaker and weaker, while more and more Sea Monsters swarmed around him.

’Am I going to be torn apart by these Sea Monsters?’

A voice suddenly rang in his ear. [Dear player, you have received an invitation from player Zachary Pierce to visit his raft. Do you accept?]

Something bit his thigh again. He didn’t even have the strength to speak. He thought ’yes’, and in the next moment, he vanished from the Sea Monster encirclement.

He left behind a pack of bewildered and confused Sea Monsters, which soon turned on each other and began to fight.

Looking like a broken doll, Caleb Colby appeared on Zachary Pierce’s raft. Zachary immediately went over to treat his wounds, not asking a single question.

"Th..."

"Don’t talk. You’re in this state. Save your energy. You can tell me all about it when you’re better."

Bonnie Callahan struggled to kill an insect monster that made her feel uneasy but didn’t have much attack power. After grabbing her loot, she returned to her raft.

The moment she got back, she saw a flood of friend requests, including one from the famous major trader, Eleanor Jonas.

After accepting, Eleanor immediately sent her a Red Envelope and a message thanking her for giving the Invitation Card to Zachary Pierce. She also said that Bonnie would have priority purchasing rights on anything she sold in the future.

Bonnie accepted the Red Envelope and opened it to find an Arrow Tower. She clicked her tongue twice. "A friend of a big shot, indeed. So generous. This is incredibly useful for me right now."

Although she had started training, the effects weren’t something you could see in just a day or two. Fortunately, the monsters that spawned around her raft were few in number and not very strong.

Now, this was a massive boost.

’Hehe, sure enough, my luck has gotten even better since I met the amazing group leader.’

BANG!

THUD! ƒreewebɳovel.com

Cough, cough, cough...

The tenacity of this zombie was beyond imagination. Fortunately, the strength she had displayed was a bit greater than even she had expected.

She was slammed against a wall and fell to the ground, but it wasn’t much better off than her.

But while Faye Yardley was grimacing in pain, the zombie seemed to feel nothing. If she hadn’t broken one of its legs during the fight, it would have already gotten up and charged at her.

"Spit! You piece of trash! Just you wait, I’m going to give you a proper thrashing, extinguish your Soul Fire, and see how you keep pestering me then! Cough, cough~"

Faye Yardley tightened her grip on her saber’s hilt and patted her chest with her left hand to help her catch her breath.

Then, she took out a High Level Fish Spear, her eyes turning ice-cold.

"Come on. Let’s end this!"

GRRRRRR...
