Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Facing Danger, Different Choices

At first, she was a little clumsy with the gun, but before long, she could change the magazine one-handed in under five seconds.

She could even fire with both hands simultaneously, reloading one-handed as soon as a gun was empty while continuing to kill zombies with the other.

She probably couldn’t compare to the small group of people who had trained with firearms for years, but Faye Yardley was still quite pleased with her rate of progress.

The zombies on the lower floors were stirred up and swarmed upstairs, and Faye Yardley realized she had unknowingly retreated back to the third floor.

She killed wave after wave of zombies, but more always appeared than she could kill.

It made Faye Yardley wonder if there was something like a Teleportation Array on the ground floor.

’How are there more of them the more I kill?’

’It makes no sense at all.’

But even as these thoughts flashed through her mind, her hands never stopped moving.

Her goal was to kill every single zombie in this Dungeon. Why would she stop just because of a few stray thoughts?

In the bottom-left corner of the regional channel, the player count was dropping by double digits every second.

After finishing off the fifth monster that had appeared beside his raft, Zachary Pierce didn’t even have time to check his spoils before he instinctively looked up into the distance.

’That massive, undulating black line swarming this way... it can’t all be monsters, can it?!’

’Is this what the system meant by random spawns?’ freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

’It’s a little *too* random.’

An electric snake shot across the ice toward Zachary Pierce’s back at an incredible speed. But just as it was about to leap up and strike, he sliced it in two with a backhanded slash of his sword.

"Hailey, there’s an orange cat over here! Its legs are already broken. Hurry up and kill it." A young man with a gruff voice waved at Hailey Miles, who stood frozen on the raft, too scared to get off. "You can’t just keep hiding on the raft, refusing to kill monsters."

"Mr. Thatcher, it’s normal for a girl like Hailey to be scared. If anything appears nearby, the two of us can just kill it," the younger Hugh Langdon said nonchalantly to Xavier Thatcher.

Before Xavier Thatcher could say anything more, Hugh Langdon finished off the nearly defenseless orange cat with a swing of his axe. He then gave half of the spoils to Xavier Thatcher. "Mr. Thatcher, I’m going to check the other side of my raft."

With that, he gave Hailey Miles a wave and coolly walked away.

’Mr. Thatcher is such an idiot. Worrying about a girl at a time like this. He should be focused on his own survival.’

’My cousin was right. Women who only know how to rely on others and offer nothing in return are just dead weight.’

’I’ve given Hailey Miles plenty of chances, but she just cowers on her raft. Fine, let her cower there for the rest of her life. I’m not going to meddle in someone else’s business.’

’Mr. Thatcher might be a good person, but if his kindness has no limits and no principles, he’s not someone worth getting close to.’

’Sigh, why am I so unlucky to be stuck with these two?’

’I’d much rather run into the kind of woman my cousin talked about—cold and guarded, but powerful.’

Gavin Donovan stared at the small horde of at least a dozen assorted monsters surrounding his raft, his face filled with nothing but excitement. He gripped his long spear and charged straight into the pack.

One swing of his axe chopped off the Three-Headed Monster’s arm. He then leaped up with nimble ease. His immense Strength imbued even his Basic Iron Axe with power. With a downward chop, he lopped off one of the Three-Headed Monster’s heads, showering the other two with a spray of blood.

One man was trembling, kneeling by the raft’s Wooden House, too scared to move as he watched it all unfold. The other man shot him a glance, snorted coldly, and went back to fighting the Three-Headed Monster.

Henry Lewis was filled with contempt for the man. ’This dumbass actually dreamed of being the primary controller after our rafts merged? As if he’s worthy!’

If he didn’t need a few lackeys to do his dirty work, he would have just killed him and absorbed his raft outright. Why go through all this trouble?

After finishing off the Three-Headed Monster, Henry Lewis picked up the spoils and immediately cursed, "Fuck! Are you kidding me with this stingy bullshit? I worked my ass off to kill one monster, and all I get is three steamed buns and 10 wood! Damn it, so one head is only worth one steamed bun!"

Fuming as he collected the meager rewards, Henry Lewis stomped toward the adjacent raft, his bloody axe in hand.

"Boss, you’re my boss! I’ll listen to you, just please don’t kill me!"

Henry Lewis sneered. "Then agree to merge the rafts, with me as the sole controller. Otherwise, you know what will happen."

"I get it, I get it! Mr. Lewis, you’re the one and only boss!"

Meanwhile, Caleb Colby was pacing around his raft in circles, utterly bored. It was strange. Before he’d gotten off his raft, he’d seen tons of people in the regional channel complaining about monster encounters, but there wasn’t a single one here.

Not only had he not received any Dungeon Fragments, but he couldn’t even get them from opening treasure chests. He wanted to kill some monsters to practice, but there were none to be found. He was so bored he could die.

In a fit of pique, he punched the ice, which unexpectedly cracked beneath his fist. The ice under his feet began to break apart, and soon, with a SPLASH, Caleb Colby fell straight into the frigid seawater.

Underwater, an unknown number of monsters swarmed toward him from all directions.

The sounds went from BANG... BANG BANG... to RAT-A-TAT-TAT... and finally, BOOM! KABOOM!

Faye Yardley never knew using guns and explosives could be this exhilarating!

As for whether the shopping mall she was in would collapse from her violent use of explosives, she truly didn’t care at all.

Besides, after the explosions, aside from a little dust and debris falling from the ceiling, the place was still holding up quite well, wasn’t it?

As massive amounts of points flowed in, the smile on Faye Yardley’s face grew even brighter.

’It’s just a shame my ammunition is running low.’

’Come to think of it, how long have I been fighting?’

She didn’t feel particularly tired, but she was definitely hungry.

So she needed to find a chance to hide and replenish some energy.

’After all, killing zombies is physically demanding work.’

She was getting better and better at killing zombies, switching between her weapons with increasing fluidity.

But damn it all, where could she possibly hide for a bit? Everywhere she turned, she saw snarling zombies drooling at the sight of her.

Damn it!

She’d made too much noise just now, and all the zombies were riled up!

In the small private group Faye Yardley had created, no one was talking except for Bonnie Callahan.

Seeing that no one was replying to her messages, Bonnie Callahan finally made up her mind to jump off her raft and take a look around.

She took out her long spear and gripped it tightly. Of course she was scared, but then she thought of Faye Yardley. Faye was younger than her, yet she had the courage to enter a Dungeon and kill zombies. Could it be that she herself didn’t even dare to get off her raft and face the monsters directly?

She wouldn’t go far, just circle her raft. If she encountered something she knew she couldn’t beat, she would just get back on the raft. It wasn’t like all the monsters were high-level attackers.

Her, Bonnie Callahan’s, luck had never been bad. She took a deep breath, spear in hand, and stepped off the raft. Before long, a bright green Goblin spawned right in front of her.
