Chapter 141: Chapter 141: Persisting in Daily Activities

Faye Yardley was surprised to receive a message from Zephyr Sterling. He was the senior of Gavin Donovan, a man she’d added as a friend but had only spoken with once.

Zephyr Sterling: Miss Yardley, I owe you one for your help during the mini-game. Please accept this small token (Red Envelope). And thank you for the arrangements you made for my junior.

She accepted Zephyr Sterling’s Red Envelope and found two Energy Stones inside.

Although Energy Stones could be obtained from killing monsters a while back, not everyone was lucky enough to find them. Overall, they were still very rare.

Faye Yardley’s philosophy toward scarce resources like this was ’the more, the better’. After accepting the gift, she replied: You’re too kind, Mr. Sterling. A mini-game like that would hardly be a challenge for someone with your abilities. I’ll gratefully accept your gift. Gavin Donovan is very capable, so him joining my brother’s team is a huge help to my brother.

It was rare to have contacted everyone on her friends list in a single day. It was certainly a novel experience.

She opened the small group chat and saw many messages mentioning her, but she couldn’t be bothered to scroll through the history.

Right now, the group was discussing how it had been nearly four hours since the last mini-game ended, and everyone was wondering if there would be another.

A glance at the public channel revealed all sorts of speculation, along with plenty of prayers for the games to stop.

It was already late at night, but who could even think about sleeping right now?

The closer it got to midnight, the more nervous everyone became.

When there was no system message at 11:57 PM, everyone breathed a small sigh of relief, but no one dared to completely let their guard down.

’What if it just teleports us away without any warning?’

After all, this game system had never been one to play by the rules.

As everyone waited anxiously, the time finally struck midnight.

[Congratulations, players, on enjoying a wonderful day and welcoming the first day of a new month. We look forward to our next fun game together.]

After that message, the system went silent.

’So, is it just over?’

Instantly, the public channel and the small group chat erupted in cheers.

Faye Yardley smiled faintly, pulled the covers over herself, and immediately fell asleep.

「At 4:00 AM on the morning of July 1st, Faye Yardley woke up on schedule.」

First, she went to check on the Magic Seed and the Green Egg. The Green Egg still showed no reaction, so she casually turned it over. The Magic Seed next to it, however, had actually sprouted.

She took a close look at the two small sprouts but didn’t recognize the species at all. She just watered them.

"You grew little sprouts today, that’s wonderful. Green Egg, you need to work harder. Not even a single crack. Don’t you want to come out yet?"

’Faye Yardley didn’t really care what happened to them. If the egg hatched, it hatched. If it didn’t, she was fine with it just sitting there. If the seed sprouted, it sprouted. If it didn’t...’

’Well, a plant that doesn’t sprout just leaves an empty pot, and she would find that annoying to look at. Fortunately, the Magic Seed had lived up to expectations.’

’Otherwise, after a while, Faye Yardley couldn’t guarantee she wouldn’t have dug it out of the soil and thrown it away.’

Breakfast, warm-ups, a session in the training room, followed by a shower and heading downstairs. By the time she finished her routine, it was 8:00 AM.

"Willow, is the temperature higher than before?"

Willow Yardley nodded. "Yes, but your raft is defensive now, and with the protection from the Energy Protection Tower, the sunlight and intense heat are greatly reduced."

’Even with it being "greatly reduced," she could still clearly feel the rise in temperature. She couldn’t even imagine how other people were getting by.’

’But she also believed that human ingenuity was limitless.’

"Going to fish for chests?"

"Yeah."

’Fishing for treasure chests was practically a daily quest. A certain amount of time had to be spent on it.’

’After all, without treasure chests, it would be difficult to survive—or at least, to live comfortably.’

While fishing for chests, Faye Yardley didn’t stay idle. Instead of looking at the public channel, she practiced her archery, shooting at the sea’s surface.

During the Crystal Arrow’s cooldown period, she would focus solely on fishing for chests and fish.

She no longer took the small wooden boat out to collect the seafood killed by her Arrows; Willow Yardley hooked most of it directly with a fishing line. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

The raft wasn’t actually stationary. Faye Yardley could now feel that the raft wasn’t just drifting with the current; in its Goliath form, she could set a direction for it to travel, though its speed was very slow.

’But what did speed matter anyway? In the vast, endless ocean, you couldn’t even see anyone else’s raft.’

’What difference did it make which direction you went, or whether you were fast or slow?’

A day passed, and Bella Dillon still hadn’t called. ’Could something have really happened to her on that island?’

Bamboo blinds, woven from bamboo, now hung on both the left and right sides of the thatched shelter. This was because the bamboo shoots she had planted had grown into a small grove.

"The weather’s getting hotter, and the demand for Pure Water on the trading market is rising. Should we increase the amount we’re selling?"

"As long as it doesn’t affect our own supply, you can handle it as you see fit."

Willow Yardley smiled and agreed, then added, "I’ve harvested a batch of bamboo shoots. Want to have some for lunch?"

Faye Yardley nodded. She wasn’t particularly picky about what she ate; after all, Willow Yardley was an excellent cook.

Just then, Eamon came running over, dragging something behind him with a rope. He waved excitedly at them. "Faye! Willow! The man opened his eyes!"

After dragging the man in the block of ice to the shelter, Eamon pointed at his now-open eyes and said, "Look, his eyes are open!"

Faye Yardley looked over and met the man’s ice-blue eyes, which held a look of utter exasperation.

She walked around the man, inspecting him. She flipped him over, checked his back, then flipped him upright again. "Not bad, Eamon. Glad to see you haven’t eaten him."

After that one line of praise, Faye Yardley took a closer look at the blissfully happy Eamon and said in surprise, "Eamon, have you gotten a little taller? And has the green on your body gotten a bit lighter?"

Eamon happily spun around twice and said, "Right? Right?! I feel like I’ve gotten taller and my color has faded a bit, too. Your eyes are really sharp, Faye!"

Hearing this, the exasperation in the ice man’s eyes deepened.

’He absorbed so much of my energy, and that tiny change is all he has to show for it? What’s there to be so happy about?’

’That Eamon thing is a complete piece of trash!’

Faye Yardley crouched down, looked at the ice man lying hogtied on the ground, and asked, "You can hear us, right? Blink if you can hear me."

Seeing him blink, Faye Yardley nodded. "How much longer until you can move and speak freely? A day?"

The man didn’t respond. Apparently, it would take longer than a day.

Faye Yardley grabbed the ropes binding him and lifted him onto the lounge chair in the thatched shelter.

"Well, just lie here for now until you recover your ability to speak and move."

Eamon started to say he could look after the man, but a single glance from Faye made him quickly change his tune. "Faye, I’ll go take care of the plants in the cultivation room! I can make them grow a little faster now, and the yield is higher, too."

"Good job, Eamon."

The ice-blue eyes showed even more exasperation. ’Aren’t there any specific numbers to quantify that? Are both the one speaking and the one listening really this perfunctory?’
