Chapter 135: Chapter 135: Take Out Your Race Car and Begin the Race

Just as Bella Dillon turned her head, Faye Yardley heard a scream before the call cut off abruptly.

Jolting upright from the floor, Faye Yardley stared at the empty space where the screen had just vanished. "I didn’t just get her killed, did I?" she muttered. "Bella Dillon, you better hang in there. Don’t die on me now."

She took out a large piece of pan-fried fish and ate it to calm her nerves.

[Constitution +2, Strength +1]

’Was this boost to my Constitution from all the fish I’ve been eating? Or was it from the last few days in the training room? Or maybe the effects of the Body Refining Pill still haven’t worn off?’

’Whatever. It’s probably the cumulative effect of all three.’

After a quick shower, she changed into a lightweight tracksuit, slipped on her Self-cleaning Robe, and noted the time: 8:00 AM sharp.

[Dear players, congratulations on surviving for 30 days in the ocean survival game. To alleviate the stress of survival and to welcome the coming of July, a server-wide mini-game event will commence at 12:00 PM noon. Stay tuned.] ×3

[Oh my god, this stupid game never gives us a break.]

[Here it is, it’s here again. It’s come back, bringing death with it.]

[o(╥﹏╥)o Please, I’m begging you. Surviving on the ocean was hard enough. Why do you have to keep tormenting me like this?]

[Stop being so down! Let’s just do this!]

[Go fish for treasure chests! Don’t be afraid of passing out from the sun. The more stuff you get, the higher your chances of survival.]

[AHHH!!! That small toy car I got earlier—the one I thought was useless—I was just playing with it and dropped it in the sea! Somebody help me!]

[Then why don’t you just jump in and get it?] ƒreewebɳovel.com

[Zachary Pierce: Everyone, don’t panic. We don’t know what kind of mini-game it will be yet. Stay calm. The worst thing we can do is lose our composure.]

[Exactly! Who knows, maybe the mini-game will actually be fun.]

The public channel was in an uproar, and things weren’t much calmer in her private group chat.

Faye Yardley paid them no mind. She changed into a pair of breathable sneakers, tied her hair up into a secure bun, and fastened it with her Ruby Hairpin.

"Sister, hurry! Breakfast is ready. I made egg pancakes today!"

Faye Yardley walked over and grabbed a pancake as Willow Yardley said, "Sister, I talked to Eamon. He doesn’t want to eat the person inside the ice, but he does want to eat the ice itself. He wanted me to ask if that’s okay with you."

"Eat the ice? Won’t he get a stomachache?"

Willow Yardley shook her head. "That layer of ice must be something special, or Eamon wouldn’t want to eat it."

As long as Eamon didn’t eat the person, Faye Yardley didn’t care what else he consumed. "Just as long as he doesn’t eat the person."

"Okay."

After breakfast, she went to fish for chests. She tried calling her brother, but he didn’t answer. He hadn’t accepted her Red Envelope either, so it seemed he still wasn’t back.

’Mini-games have difficulty levels, too. I wonder what I’ll end up with.’

「Time flew by, and soon it was 12:00 PM sharp.」

Faye Yardley had mentally prepared herself, but she was still startled by the instantaneous change of scenery.

’This place is a real-life fantastical Fairy Tale World.’

"Wow, is this place real? There are so many pink bubbles, and even the grass is pink."

"Look at that huge sea of purple flowers swaying in the wind! And those trees in the distance are so tall they touch the clouds."

"AHHH! That lime-green mushroom can walk!" frёewebnoѵēl.com

"..."

Faye Yardley felt crushed and deafened. ’Why are there so many people here all of a sudden?!’

[Welcome, everyone, to the Children’s Playground. The first mini-game is car racing. Please take out your toy cars.]

The people in the crowd who didn’t have toy cars began to panic. ’How are we supposed to play without one? Are we going to be eliminated immediately?’

Faye Yardley immediately took out her large toy car and got in. Before anyone else could try to snatch it, she was instantly transported to a rainbow racetrack.

All kinds of other toy cars were beside her. The players with small cars had now been shrunk down to scale to fit inside them.

There were other large toy cars like hers, but not many.

’I feel like I’ve already won before we’ve even started.’

As for the people who didn’t have toy cars, the system instantly transformed their appearances and scattered them across various points on the racetrack.

[Helpful Tip 1: In a children’s race, there are no winners or losers, only happy and unhappy racers. Please maintain a cheerful mood for the entire duration.]

[Helpful Tip 2: Children can be competitive, too. If you fall to last place, you will grow anxious, and the other children will come out to help you.]

[Helpful Tip 3: There will be various obstacles along the racetrack. You should do your best to avoid them.]

[All racers, please get ready. You may only start when the gun sounds!]

As it turned out, there were always people who refused to play by the rules. The moment the system’s message ended, several cars had already shot forward.

The result was that Faye Yardley and the others who waited heard a series of loud POPS. The racers who jumped the gun, along with their toy cars, instantly vaporized into a bloody mist. The rainbow racetrack itself trembled twice.

Faye Yardley could feel the rainbow racetrack’s excitement.

Fuck!

’This track eats people!’

BANG!

After a massive gunshot, dazzling fireworks bloomed in the sky above the track.

Faye Yardley slammed on the accelerator, and her sports car shot off the line.

Driving wasn’t so easy when the track was alive and all sorts of obstacles were suddenly popping out of it.

And on top of that, you had to maintain a cheerful mood while dealing with suddenly appearing skulls, vines blowing across the track in the wind, and fruit exploding from the giant trees alongside it.

Failing to do so would likely affect your part of the track. She glanced at a big rig on a light-blue section of the course not far away; that part of the track had already warped into a writhing, undulating wave.

An incessant chorus of screams, curses, and crazed laughter filled her ears.

’Maintaining a cheerful mood doesn’t mean laughing hysterically. The track’s stability is completely tied to your state of mind. If your emotions get too volatile, the track’s surface will become volatile too.’

And yet, seeing that her section of the track was relatively stable, someone was actually trying to cut her off.

Faye Yardley didn’t tolerate that for a second. She rammed right into them. Worst case, she’d just treat this like a demolition derby.

She had no idea what happened to the people sent flying or run over by her sports car. Besides, she couldn’t afford to care. The only things she could control were her own emotions and the steering wheel in her hands.

The brake and accelerator were already out of her control.

Before long, Faye Yardley felt like she was on a roller coaster. If not for her seatbelt and her death grip on the steering wheel, she would have been flung from the open-top car during a 360-degree loop.

She had just come out of the massive loop when the track twisted into a corkscrew.

Suddenly, she felt something cold and tight wrap around her neck. Faye Yardley had no choice but to release one hand from the steering wheel to feel at it.

’Something’s there!’

’It’s slimy and cold. A small snake, maybe.’

With a sharp tug, she flung it away without even getting a clear look at it.

But just as she threw it off, the car went into another spin, and the small snake latched right back onto her left arm.

To her astonishment, a tiny scream came from the snake itself. "Help! Help me!"
