Chapter 125: Chapter 125: Silver Treasure Chest, Acquired
There was nothing else to prepare. Faye Yardley took out the Water-Repelling Pearl and stepped off the raft.
No matter how many times she’d done it, walking through the seawater still felt wonderfully strange.
To be honest, the Sea Map was a bit unreliable. Even the one she’d had the system record for her seemed off. It was clearly the path she had taken with Bella Dillon before, but walking it again, she felt like she was straying from the original course.
She checked it again, adjusted her direction, and kept walking. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
’Why did I have to be so careless back then?’
She had been walking underwater for an hour and still hadn’t found the spot where Bella Dillon had discovered the Silver Treasure Box.
However, the number of various blackened sea creatures around her was gradually increasing, so her general direction had to be correct.
Suddenly, a fishing line appeared in front of her. Afraid she might get hooked, she quickly pulled up a strand of seaweed and wrapped it around the line. A moment later, the line was yanked away, taking the seaweed with it.
As the line shot upward, Faye Yardley’s sharp gaze followed its path and spotted the Silver Treasure Box hidden among the seaweed.
"Ha! So this is where it is. Talk about a lucky break."
There was bound to be danger around a Silver Treasure Box. As much as she wanted it, she still had to perform the necessary checks.
Faye bounded toward the Silver Treasure Box, moving in light hops within the protective bubble of her Water-Repelling Pearl.
The surrounding seaweed was blackening from the roots. ’Is this a sign that everything here will soon be corrupted?’
’Did the cave from The Murkwood Loch collapse?’
Down here, the blackened sea creatures, regardless of size, were all becoming extremely aggressive.
They began to ram into her protective bubble relentlessly. Worried they might break through, Faye dove straight for the Silver Treasure Box. The moment her hand touched it, she stored it in her backpack.
The instant the Silver Treasure Box vanished, a geyser of black water erupted from where it had been. Faye cried out, tossing an empty Iron Treasure Box toward the spot. The iron box corroded at a speed visible to the naked eye.
The black water seemed to be sentient, lunging straight for Faye. At her current speed underwater, she knew she wouldn’t be able to escape it.
Suddenly, Faye felt a sharp tug. A force was pulling her away, rocketing her toward the surface at an incredible speed.
This seemed to infuriate the monster controlling the black water. A pitch-black head emerged from the murk, its maw opening to reveal rows of vicious teeth. Then, with a twist of its body, it shot after Faye like an arrow loosed from a bow.
Faye went with the force pulling on her back, allowing it to drag her out of the sea even faster.
The instant her body broke the surface, the effect of the Water-Repelling Pearl vanished. As she was launched into the air, the black, arrow-like monster fish burst from the water as well. freewebnovel.cσ๓
Its vicious teeth looked even more terrifying in the sunlight.
Light Wound was already in Faye’s hand. The moment the monster fish’s gaping maw was about to clamp down on her, she brought the blade straight down.
AARGH~~
Faye felt like her eardrums were about to shatter from the monster fish’s enraged cry of pain.
"What in the world? Did I just fish up a person?!"
Faye had no time to worry about the fisherman’s surprise. All her focus was on the monster fish. A direct hit from Light Wound had only managed to slice off half of its long, pointed snout.
Its long, black, serpentine body thrashed in the water. Then, using the sea as a springboard, the entire fish launched itself out of the water and shot toward Faye.
Faye felt another sharp tug from behind, turning what should have been a powerful, charged-up strike into a limp, powerless slash.
’Shit!’
’She really wanted to curse, but she knew the person meant well, probably afraid she’d be hurt by the monster fish.’
It all sounds slow in the telling, but everything happened in the blink of an eye.
Leaning back, she kicked the monster fish. Using the momentum, Faye backflipped and plunged Light Wound straight toward the creature’s vitals.
She missed its vital point, but the blade still sank deep into the monster’s body. The sharp edge of Light Wound sliced smoothly downward, gutting the creature from end to end.
As the monster fish fell back into the ocean, Faye wrenched Light Wound free. With a quick backhand slash, she severed the fishing line and began to fall. Just as she was about to hit the water, she tapped her foot lightly on the surface and launched herself back toward the dying fish.
Leo Sloan just stood on his raft, watching from a distance, not paying much mind to his severed fishing line.
’How can one person be so powerful?’
’Moving on the surface of the ocean as if it were solid ground... how is she doing that?’
’Could she actually be one of the Otherkin?’
As he was lost in speculation, Faye had already finished off the black monster fish, obtaining an Energy Stone. She even harvested the fish’s body for materials.
Then she summoned a small wooden boat and began rowing toward his raft.
"Group Leader?!"
It took Faye a moment to connect the man before her with his profile picture. "Leo Sloan?"
"Yes. Please, come aboard, Group Leader."
Faye maneuvered her small boat closer and climbed onto Leo Sloan’s raft.
"Judging by its size, your raft must be Level Five already." Faye then gave Leo Sloan a formal bow. "Thank you, Mr. Sloan. If your line hadn’t latched onto me and you hadn’t pulled me up, I would have been in for a nasty fight."
"Not at all, not at all. I didn’t really do anything. In fact, I probably just got in your way. It’s hot out. Would you like to sit inside?"
Faye shook her head. "No, thank you. You’ve done well for yourself here."
"It’s all thanks to you, Group Leader. If you hadn’t invited me to the group, I’d still be just barely scraping by."
Leo Sloan felt it was rude to host the Group Leader this way. After a moment’s thought, he went to the trading market, exchanged for a wooden pavilion blueprint, and immediately built it.
Sitting in the newly built pavilion, Faye pulled two Ice Basins from her backpack and placed them on either side. Next, she filled a small square table with food and drinks, opened two bottles of soda, and clinked one against Leo Sloan’s before taking a screenshot and posting it in the group chat.
Faye Yardley: Had the good fortune of running into Mr. Sloan on the high seas. Since it’s lunchtime, we’re eating together. [Photo.jpg]
Although the photo only showed two hands clinking soda bottles together, a table laden with delicious food and fruit was clearly visible below.
Bonnie Callahan: *drooling*~ No fair! How come I’m not the one in the same sea zone as Faye? I want to have a meal with Faye too! Mr. Sloan, you’ve been holding out on us, with all that delicious food!
Leo Sloan: I’m embarrassed to say, this was all provided by our Group Leader.
Wade Warren: That makes me even more jealous.
Bonnie Callahan: Right?!
Kyle Lewis: +1
Gavin Donovan: +my social security number
Faye thought for a moment, then sent a Red Envelope to everyone in their little group. Inside was a giant rainbow ice cream.
After sending them out, Faye ignored the ensuing chat and took a big gulp from her bottle. "It’s a shame this isn’t colder. It would taste even better."
"This is already wonderful. Thank you for the Red Envelope, Group Leader. I never imagined there was such a thing as a giant rainbow ice cream." As he spoke, Leo Sloan stored the ice cream in his warehouse. He added, a bit sheepishly, "I want to save it for my kid."
’A kid?’
Faye instantly knew what she could give Leo Sloan as a proper reward.
