Chapter 290: Small Reunion
Lucas continued to walk, but after remembering that if someone saw him back here, it would cause some ruckus. Thus, he cast a mystical art that could make himself invisible. With the conditions and applications the same as with magic, he was able to smoothly cast the spell.
Him contacting five people that could help the three provinces’ defense didn’t mean that he was returning here to stay. He still needed to make good use of his time, so he prioritized sending people and introducing them. Therefore, after entering the palace, he contacted Yuna.
’Yuna, this is me... Lucas.’
A thin thread was created that immediately traced where Yuna was. She was in her bedroom, resting on her bed when suddenly the thread reached her, carrying the message Lucas sent.
’Mind Communication?’
[Huh? Brother Lucas? You have returned!]
Yuna excitedly stood up from her bed, then rushed out of her bedroom wearing a silky robe that just added to the beauty she had. But just after she went out, she was surprised when Lia was just by the side of the door.
"Lucas is here, right?" she asked.
"Y-Yeah. How did you know?"
"I felt his presence. Even though I can’t really see where he is, his essence was still present. Has he totally returned?" A solemn expression came from her, which took Yuna some seconds to create the right answer.
"I still don’t know. I am going to where he is." Yuna then slid her body past Lia with a delighted face. frёewebnoѵēl.com
"Where is he?"
"At the pagoda outside the palace. He said that he had just made a tour for himself, so he could wait there." Yuna answered, then hurriedly left Lia.
"Huh? He was already able to see the changes in the palace?"
After a few minutes, Lia arrived near the pagoda Yuna mentioned. As she arrived, she first noticed Yuna, then Lucas, who was smiling at Yuna, who was excited to share some stories she had.
She sighed, then shook her head and casually walked past the bridge.
"So, why did you return immediately? Did you finish attacking the Northern Continent? Can we now have our revenge?"
Lucas’s eyebrow raised in curiosity, then he saw Lia walking in their direction. He then smiled at her.
"You are still seducing me with your beauty, Lia."
Lia’s eyebrows furrowed. "Just where did you learn to talk like that? Has living in the Northern Continent corrupted your mind?"
Lucas scoffed, then stood up. "I am just kidding. Come here, give me a hug."
Lia was flustered by the sudden invitation. After giving it some thought, she gave her answer in the simplest way she could think of.
"I guess there’s nothing wrong with it," she said. However, deep in her mind, she was still unstable. ’Lucas became more attractive than before.’
Yuna, on the other hand, still couldn’t stop her smile. "He embraced me first."
Lia suddenly retracted after the embrace, then blurted out. "Do you think I care?"
"By the way, you still didn’t answer my question. Why are you here?" Lia asked.
Lucas then took a seat. He had a calm face, as usual, and then showed some images from the light affinity he had. Those images that he was able to create showed the entire Northern Continent. He divided it into provinces and emphasized the province he had captured.
However, instead of paying attention to the data he was showing, they were mesmerized by the spell he cast. The materialized light just looked like the materialized shadow, but in a lighter and more clear view.
It was the first time they had seen it. From their experiences, there were treasure maps solely for this, but the quality of the three-dimensional image could not reach this quality. And the more they look at it, the more they get speechless.
"H-How did you make this, Brother Lucas?" they asked.
"Mystical arts. I broke through another discovery, you know. I can do something like this as well."
Lucas then slowly created a materialized chair from shadow. The same reaction; they were mesmerized.
"How does that work?"
’In Encanta, this is common. Some artifacts have the ability to show terrain with three-dimensional imagery. However, the uniqueness of what I created was that it was malleable. I can easily change what is shown. Furthermore, the concept of it was mixed up with Magique Cultivation.’ Lucas thought.
"It is complex to explain. Let us just skip that whole matter. It takes too much time if I explain it."
"We understand." They accepted the fact, but they still couldn’t hide their disheartened expression.
"Ah... Lia, you want to know my purpose for coming back, right?" Lucas said. "Look at this map. This is the Northern Continent, and this piece of land covered with a grand protective array formation are the provinces I was able to capture. Since the Emperor has already noticed our infiltration, I can’t continue to capture the other provinces. So, I will be heading to the Southern Continent."
"Southern Continent? Then, you will be leaving these lands?" Lia asked.
Yuna simply assessed the map while the other two were discussing the matters Lucas needed to focus on.
"Yeah, I would do that. And to ensure that the defense won’t be weakened, I asked for five officials’ help." Lucas explained as he could see that Lia’s expression was restless. She might be concerned about the efforts that would be futile if he left the lands unattended.
"So, you will just leave some people to ensure the defense. Does that mean you won’t be leaving them with the task of continuing the invasion?"
"Yes, that is right. That is why I picked the people that could be trusted with this task." Lucas added.
Yuna shifted her attention. The topic had taken her attention, which she just couldn’t handle to keep to herself.
"How could I not know any of this? You already contacted five officials without me knowing any of it?"
Lucas scoffed. "That is why I am here. It would be disrespectful to you if I just took them and asked you through Mind Communication, right? I came personally for this."
Yuna shook her head, and an awkward smile came after. "Really. You don’t have to do that. This is not simply your duty, but mine as well as the queen."
Yuna appeared to be less tight with Lucas, which Lia noticed. Since the day that Lucas appeared and became attached to him, Yuna had become more motivated, unlike when she was still strictly holding the Xiao family’s business and matters as one of the past Five Great Families.
And on that matter, Lia, as not mediocre in matters of relationships, couldn’t help but pique into it. Her eyes narrowed looking at Yuna’s wide and sweet smile. Her teeth could be seen, which was rare for her to do.
Lia tilted her head, then stood up. She pulled Yuna out of nowhere, which piqued Lucas’s curiosity as well.
"W-Wait..."
Lia continued to drag her away from the pagoda. Yuna then brushed her hands off with her eyebrows furrowed.
"Calm down first."
"Calm down? You just grabbed me away, and you expect me to be calm? Why did you do that?"
"I have a question."
"You can just simply ask me that without dragging me away."
Lia sighed, then gathered the words he needed. This was the first time she asked this to Yuna since she did not see her being fruity with other men in the past. Although he did make some memories with Light, it was just pure friendship.
Yuna was still a kid in this field. She did not know any method of seducing, which Lia knew. And since before then, Lia would be more like an adult to Yuna in this matter.
Even though Lia did not have some experience, the length of time she had lived was enough for her to have some understanding.
"Do you like Lucas?"
Yuna became silent and stared at her with wide eyes. She was taken aback by that question, and even though a few seconds had passed, she was still silent.
"You are overreacting. I am asking you if you like Lucas."
Yuna’s face turned red, and she flustered looked away.
"What kind of question is that? How could you ask me about some trivial matters like that?"
"You’ve become soft. Stop acting like a kid. Just answer that question."
It was indeed Yuna’s first time being asked. And because of that, she started asking herself as well.
’Brother Lucas...? Do I like him? How could I? Even though I am the queen, he was someone who was greater than me. He is good at martial arts and mystical arts too. When being compared with me, I am just a bean beside a rock. I can’t dare to like him... But even so... Do I like him?’
"Yuna, you are thinking too much. Just answer my question. It is simple, yes or no?"
Yuna lowered her head and contemplated it more than she should. Her face was still red, but redder than earlier. And as she came up with her answer, she was embarrassed to tell it.
"I... I like him."
