Chapter 254: Wu Region [2]

Lucas had seen Brian being silent. As he announced that Beatrix and Glassera would join them on their journey to the Wu Region, Brian had been silent all day. Furthermore, Lucas had realized that Brian knew that the two women had the idea of joining White Lead.

Curious, Lucas didn’t pry more into Brian’s thoughts, even how much he was thinking. It was already too much for him.

"We are near." The coachman announced.

Lucas’s eyes instinctively moved to Brian. Following that, he noticed how Brian became tense and also stiff. He then further couldn’t handle the curiosity he had.

"Brian, why do you look nervous? Is there something wrong?"

Brian flinched in his position and looked blankly at Lucas. It seemed that his thoughts were flying without destination. And as Lucas realized that, he let out a sigh and just ignored it.

"Never mind. Just continue resting. We are near."

"I understand, Senior Brother Lucas. Sorry for bothering you."

Glassera slightly moved to Lucas’s side and then pried at the topic. Her face showed obvious interest in the topic that Beatrix was embarrassed to realize.

Furthermore, Lucas also noted that he just shook his head. "If you want to know, maybe you should share some things about yourself first. I didn’t pry earlier, and just asked the obvious things."

Glassera paused, and his enthusiastic side hid in embarrassment. "Sorry. It was insensitive of me to pry into personal matters."

"Thank you for understanding."

Beatrix slapped her forehead and went back to her place. Even though he felt hesitant about Lucas’s presence, she agreed with the part where Lucas was informing Glasseara about her action.

Glassera’s face also lowered and darkened, still reflecting what she did. Glassera was also someone who was goofy and friendly, which is why she opened up to Lucas.

However, slightly forgetting about personal matters, she repented.

"Glassera, why don’t you just stay there and recover your energy?" Beatrix asked.

"I’m sorry," Glassera muttered.

Beatrix let out a sigh and then went to look at Lucas, who seemed to be in deep thought. She was slightly curious about their purpose for going to the Wu region, and it seemed to be nothing too personal since they were traveling together.

It could also be an acceptable reason to ask since Lucas already knew their goal of going to the Wu region. Also, Beatrix pursued a lighter atmosphere inside the coach.

"Senior Brother Lucas, why are you going to the Wu Region? You might have already mentioned it earlier, but I still want to hear it."

For a second, Lucas’s eyebrow was raised in confusion. And as he noticed that Beatrix was starting to open up, he secretly smiled and then lowered his head.

Lucas knew that Beatrix was hesitant earlier. Even with the effects of his word technique, he knew that Beatrix’s mental defense was strong. It could be an effect of being intentionally outcast or not being open to other people.

And as he realized that one point, he gained a better understanding of the nature of word technique. freewebnovel.cσ๓

’The same effect could be achieved with a magical array. Putting magical runes and characters together could get the same result, but it would take a long time and I could not perform it without a portable paper that I can only create with creation magic. So, even if I learn talisman writing, I should search for masters, and I wasn’t able to learn that on the eastern continent. However, there is one applicable alternative to it.’

’Back in my memories and the knowledge I got when I was God of Magic, there was no master talisman. And also, talisman writing is a category under arraying. Hence, there could be a small percentage of masters in talisman writing.’

’What a shame that I didn’t prepare that well. But now, I can say that I have the ability to influence others’ thoughts and Beatrix is an example of it.’ freēwēbηovel.c૦m

He had a small ability to see a person’s nature. Even though it wasn’t that great, it was formed from observations he had made in past experiences. He could read people’s characters. That was why he was sure that Beatrix was someone who was not open to strangers or other people she was not close to.

"Nothing much. We were on a journey until the situation became tight. We just got a short break as the war continues. So, since the soldiers weren’t too dispersed in the meantime, we decided to go for a ride. How about you? If you don’t mind, why do you want to be a mercenary?"

Beatrix’s face became less serious.

"In Quanzhi Province, we are called the "Small and Big Sisters." I know it is a lame name, but we were kind of famous. However, we grew tired of it and wanted to earn more money. So, we are going to join the White Lead and use our reputation to enter."

"Was that all?"

As a result of Brian’s actions, Lucas couldn’t help but think differently about the situation in the Wu region. Lucas had a slight inkling of the difficult life in the Wu Region that Brian didn’t want to discuss. Even though the primary motive for his departure was to become an independent warrior, this could not be the only cause for his departure.

Brian might be just making himself believe in an idea that could put his mind at ease.

"That’s all. We are not that too much ambitious."

"Hahaha... I do not think that you are ambitious. But, I am just shocked that you are not thinking too highly of yourself. Since you told me that you have at least a good reputation as a warrior, I thought that at least you see yourselves as having high value."

Beatrix scoffed. Lucas’s words were not wrong; he was right. However, he couldn’t agree with the ideas that Lucas was trying to show.

"Small and Big Sisters" might be the name of their duo, but they were not siblings. They were partners in fights, which Beatrix held highly, unlike the reputation they got from fighting.

"Senior Brother Lucas, what do you do for a living?"

’Hm... Beatrix seems to be getting more interested in me. My techniques were working after all.’

"Just peddlers and warriors. Three of us are warriors, but we don’t really work that well as mercenaries. We are more like peddlers." Lucas softly said without many expressions in his tone that would have given a different meaning. He was only goofy at some point.

"That is nice..."

[Felicity’s Point of View]

All of a sudden, I felt a surge of energy going into my body. The legacy would start again, but I couldn’t help but be surprised at how things were going out of hand.

All of this was supposed to be for Master Lucas, but I couldn’t do it anymore. All of these tragic events happened because of my impulsiveness in desiring to offer more to Master. I kind of even forgot Mary, and Larry was left with all of the responsibility of taking care of Mary.

Why is this happening to me?

"Felicity Zhu was it? You have come to the end. This is the end for you. How dare you try to wake me up from my slumber?!"

"No... I only did it because of my legacy. I left a legacy in this realm, in Immortal Heaven. I left my people, my subordinates who were loyal to me. That is why, to do something for them, I wanted to finish the legacy!"

"Legacy? What legacy?"

"To become the Ambassador of the Immortal Heaven."

"Pfft. Are you joking despite the situation you are in? You are really a funny creature, Felicity Zhu."

"What?!"

No way... What happened? Don’t tell me I was fooled?!

That legacy was given to me by a celestial being, and my Agents were my witnesses. What is this man talking about?

I am in deep confusion and the barrage of questions couldn’t be stopped from emerging in my head. While my body was shackled by chains created from Qi, my mind was floating after all of what this man said.

"I am the ambassador of the Immortal Heaven. Why are you telling me that I gave you a legacy to replace me? Why would I do that?"

"What...?"

Memories went back to my head, flashing one by one. And as for the first day of the legacy in the past, I didn’t do much. On the second day, I did the same until I rejected the legacy and forgot about it.

I gave false hope to my Agents as I ascended back to my home. However, the first phase of the legacy... I didn’t do it. I ignored it and ascended...

So... does that mean that the first phase of the legacy was to fight the ambassador himself and become the ambassador by violently taking it from him?

"You are funny, Felicity Zhu. You could have had it all, but you were just weak and a clown."

Why... Why... Why...?

Is this what they call fate? Or the result of karma? I did nothing wrong... I did something wrong... I killed too many people, and now fate is giving me what I deserve.

"But don’t worry. Since I was entertained, I will give you a chance."

My body started to glow more, and slowly, I felt my energy draining out of my system.

"Shit..."
