Chapter 249: Mercenary

’This person seems to have something in his background. Is it just my intuition? The way he introduced himself and the extension he had on his name sounded too important to me. Hence, if he tells it, even if he is unconscious, his identity must be important.’

A grin curled up on Lucas’s face as he assessed Brian, who was currently under his control. It was not fully controlled; however, Brian’s defense was weak, giving Lucas the opportunity to ask him and get the information he needed.

And as an idea came into his mind, he again asked another question. Now, the flow of his progress in searching for information would have a better result.

"Tell me, you said that you are from Xiaozhin Province. What is the province all about? Inform me with the most informative summary you have got."

With blank eyes staring at nothingness, Brian nodded and complied with Lucas’s inquiries. Starting with the basics, Lucas started to get more informative things from Brian.

"Xiaozhin Province is a mercenary province under General Fire Storm, Charles Zhui. The province consisted of big sects of warriors and organizations of mercenary groups. In the province, there are the Big Three Sects: the Swallowed Star Sect, the Reverend Sect, and the Blue Soul Sect."

"In the warriors’ side, there are the five great mercenary groups: the King’s Target Mercenary, Lovely Blossom Mercenary, Chosen One Mercenary, Peak Martial Mercenary, and White Lead Mercenary."

"The province has 9 regions. Furthermore, in each of these regions, the eight big names mentioned have power. The remaining one was for the general, Senior Charles Zhui."

Lucas’s lips flinched. Did he just hear something important? Even though that was a simple summary, he just had important information in front of him. Furthermore, among the rest of the spoken information, he could continue further at one specific organization mentioned, which was the White Lead Mercenary.

A vicious smile couldn’t help but appear on Lucas’s face. White Lead is supposed to be a pillar of the mercenary side of the province, apart from the sects. Hence, he should have more helpful hints.

And as he still had Brian’s will, he didn’t stop to think of exploiting it. He knew it was a big catch for him, so he jumped in and continued to extract information.

"Then, what are you doing here, Brian? If you are the third son of the leader of the White Lead, should you be by their side? Or are they here?"

Brian shook his head and answered. "I ran away from home because I wanted to have my own name as an independent warrior. To get it, I went to Ram City to prepare the money to buy a technique and also the resources I needed."

"If you are the son of the White Lead’s leader, should you be given those already? And you can just run if you have enough power." Lucas suggested. What Lucas said hit Brian’s system, eventually making him understand the emotion Lucas had in there.

"If they knew that I had their martial arts when I ran, I would get crippled and I wouldn’t be able to practice martial arts. So, I took the risk of running away."

Lucas nodded as he slowly understood Brian’s claim. It was indeed reasonable for him to run away if he had such limitations before he could even achieve his goals.

"Okay, for my next inquiry, tell me all about the regions’ names and also the power holder in each region." Lucas continued.

"Nine regions in Xiaozhin Province consist of Ai Region under Lovely Blossom, Chuan Region under Chosen One, Cong Region under King’s Target, Jia Region under Swallowed Star, Ming Region under Reverend, Senlin Region under Blue Soul, Wu Region under White Lead, Yong Region under Peak Martial, and lastly, Ren Region under the Zhui Family, which is the family of the General Fire Storm, Charles Zhui." fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

Brian didn’t continue, which indicated that that was all Brian knew. So, as he still had a question in his head, he continued to ask.

"Even though I could get this information if I bought a map, I still need to ask him. What region is the nearest to here in Xiaozhin Province?"

"In technicality, this is inside the Xiaozhin Province, but since not all who live here acknowledge it, the city is not under the Wu Region, which is under the White Lead."

"I see... That is helpful..." Lucas nodded.

"Grand Master, what are you doing to that shop owner?" Lucas heard Jake’s voice, which made him stop his control of Brian.

He snapped back to reality and was left dumbfounded, looking at Lucas and Jake, who were in front of him. He still didn’t know how to react or even know how he was in front of them.

On the other hand, Jake was still confused and curious about Lucas’s previous actions.

"I’m gathering information because this individual here, whom you refer to as the shop owner of the herbs you purchased, was the third son of the White Lead’s leader," Lucas said with an elated face.

And as Lucas said that information without having much thought, Brian was brought back to realization, and he flinched and jumped backward with a baffled expression.

"How did you know that?" Brian asked, with a worried expression and feeling threatened. He looked at his surroundings to ask for help, but no other people were around to offer it.

His heart started to beat faster and his thoughts ran uncontrollably. He overthought and nothing in his head could make him calm.

’Why... Why... Why am I before them? Did they do something to me? But what I can remember is being confronted by the light-aura person here. What did they do to me and how the hell did he learn my identity?! Nobody knows that I am the third son of my father’s mercenary! Did my family send them? No. It is too careless and stupid of them to not grab me immediately when I am still in front of them.’

Brian’s thoughts didn’t come to an end; they just left him blank while having a rampage of his thoughts. Meanwhile, Jake was still confused about how he got that information.

"Grand Master, how did you know that? He seemed to be not okay right now." Jake pondered.

Lucas just shook his hands at Jake’s eye level to dismiss his thoughts. "Don’t worry, I just hypnotized him to answer my questions. It is not that much."

"Huh?"

"Anyway, I just have our lead to learn more about the Xiaozhin Province. Since Ji An had Quanzhi under his control, we will start to get the Xiaozhin while others start to infiltrate other provinces."

Brian, who was still controlling his ideas, slowly came back to his senses and calmed down a little. However, he was still in deep confusion about Lucas and Jake’s identities.

"Who are you, people? And what are you intending to do with the information about my identity? Let me remind you, my family won’t pay any ransom you set if you kidnap me."

Brian sounded hysterical in his words, and just with that, facing him, Lucas scoffed, while Jake was still wondering.

"You don’t have to worry about that, we are not bad people."

"Do you think I am thinking about it? What I care about is, will I die or not? Those questions were not related to what I am feeling right now." Brian hysterically shouted in a barrage of his words.

Lucas let out a sigh and then let Brian calm down with his comfort. "Just calm down, will you?"

However, Brian still seemed to be alarmed by them, which left him no choice but to use his knowledge of word techniques.

"Calm down."

Waves of authoritative pressure went to Brian, which went straight to his heart, and it gave him a throbbing sensation. And with that, he slowly calmed down, but in a rather forced manner, which eventually made Brian fall asleep.

"Goodness, I can’t believe how weak this person’s mind is. It just explains how I was able to defeat his mind defense and brainwash him to answer my questions." Lucas grumbled and leaned on the backrest of his chair.

"Grand Master, does that mean that we will continue our journey once we get more information from him?"

"Yes, that will be the answer to that, and we will have no other choice but to control him since his mind is just weak. He will continue to panic."

"But what if that destroys his mind?"

As Lucas came to a halt at Jake’s question and considered it, various ideas entered his mind, influenced by his various possible approaches to the situation. He let out a sigh and then said, "I will be careful when I control him. I won’t basically make him a puppet, don’t you worry." freewebnσvel.cøm

"Grand Master, I understand."

"By the way, Jake. Will you have a chance to teach him basic martial arts? While I tackle his will to follow our orders, you take his heart by teaching him martial arts. I just heard that he wanted to be an independent warrior."
