Chapter 2079: Chapter 2077: Should We Take Revenge?

In the dimly lit enclosed environment, the glow of candlelight illuminated the surroundings. As Lu Ye slowly awoke, he felt pain all over his body.

A long-familiar fragrance lingered around his nostrils, and beneath his head, he felt a warm, soft cushion. There was also a hand placed over his heart, from which gentle mana was emanating, clearly aiding his healing.

Lu Ye did not move.

He slowly recalled what had happened before.

While pursuing the Spectral Sedan Chair, he provoked a counterattack with a single strike and almost died on the spot. He survived, but the ox demon that accompanied him perished, leaving not even a trace behind.

Much from before was unclear, and although he had some vague suspicions, he couldn’t confirm them.

"Your injuries aren’t too severe; a few more days of rest and you’ll be fine." In the tranquil environment, Jiu Yan’s voice sounded, somewhat relieved.

Seeing Lu Ye not responding, Jiu Yan frowned slightly, "Are you going to just lie there like this?"

Lu Ye immediately put on a pained expression, "Dizzy, my psyche is a bit unsettled..."

He used his psyche as an excuse, one Jiu Yan couldn’t verify, as she could only examine his physical state. She had no way to know if there was anything wrong within his Divine Sea.

Recalling when Lu Ye, covered in blood, was thrown in here, her heart had nearly skipped a beat, almost thinking Lu Ye was dead. She anxiously checked and discovered that the miserable state on him wasn’t his own but was stained with someone else’s blood after their death.

"Then continue resting." Jiu Yan sighed, somewhat at a loss.

Ever since the last time, she had been avoiding Lu Ye, trying to have as little contact with him as possible. Several years had passed just like that, yet she never imagined some things couldn’t be avoided merely by wanting to avoid them.

It was as if fate was teasing her, trapping her and Lu Ye in this completely enclosed environment, where they had to spend each day together, making her feel uneasy.

Lu Ye settled down comfortably and only then noticed he was lying on Jiu Yan’s lap, obviously having been cared for by her during his unconscious state.

A moment of silence ensued.

Lu Ye was still pondering past events, while countless thoughts churned in Jiu Yan’s mind.

Everything that happened before couldn’t simply be forgotten or ignored, and this time, with an uncertain future, nobody knew if they would be trapped here perpetually, unable to escape, and if so, they could indeed depend only on each other.

Since avoidance wasn’t possible, they could only have a meaningful conversation. After all, living in such an awkward atmosphere wasn’t sustainable; they were both cultivators, and some things shouldn’t matter so much.

Having reached this thought, Jiu Yan made a decision in her heart.

"I’ll speak, you listen. Don’t ask too many questions, don’t talk." She suddenly spoke up.

"Hmm?" Lu Ye’s thoughts were interrupted, meeting Jiu Yan’s gaze directly, close enough because he was lying on her lap.

Jiu Yan’s eyes flickered slightly and then avoided his gaze.

"Speak!" Only then did Lu Ye respond.

Jiu Yan took a deep breath. Although she had made a decision, it was still difficult for her to speak when it came down to it. Baɕing her teeth, she spoke, "You are now Sun Blaze level, somewhat familiar with the Out-Of-Body Incarnation Method. Ban Ci..." Her voice trembled slightly, forcing herself to stay calm, "is one of my incarnations! When Shen’er controlled Unparalleled Island, I wasn’t reassured and sent an incarnation to aid him. Shen’er knew nothing of this; he never met my incarnation."

Lu Ye thought to himself it was indeed so.

Previously he had his suspicions along these lines because if Ban Ci truly was Jiu Yan’s true self, many things couldn’t be explained. After all, how could someone as top-tier Sun Blaze as Jiu Yan be affected by the Great Lust Demon Spider?

Therefore, Ban Ci’s cultivation to Constellation at the time was genuine, as she was just an incarnation.

Seeing Lu Ye react like this, Jiu Yan asked in surprise, "You knew already?"

Lu Ye only looked at her steadily, blinking as Jiu Yan, puzzled, asked, "What’s wrong?"

Lu Ye raised his hand, pinching at his own lips, clearly indicating that she had just told him not to speak...

Jiu Yan, annoyed, lightly patted him on the chest, "You can speak now!" She had summoned all her courage to discuss this matter with Lu Ye, and he pulled this!

Immediately following her light pat, Lu Ye, whose chest had a few fractures, groaned softly.

Jiu Yan’s expression became flustered, her face reddened; the gesture had indeed been somewhat affectionate, and she couldn’t comprehend her own actions.

She quickly, gently rubbed his chest to soothe him, but after a couple of rubs, she realized it was inappropriate, and froze...

"I’m fine, don’t worry about it." Lu Ye waved his hand and continued, "I did have such suspicions, but only confirmed it after you spoke."

Jiu Yan tried to make herself relax, but didn’t know what to say.

Seeing her expression, Lu Ye inquired, "Then where is Ban Ci now?"

Jiu Yan looked at him with a lingering gaze, "Dead!"

"How did she die?" Lu Ye exclaimed in shock.

"I killed her!" Jiu Yan said nonchalantly, "What, are you feeling heartbroken?"

Lu Ye was at a loss for words, and after a long while, he said, "Why did you kill her?"

Jiu Yan snorted coldly, "My doppelganger cultivation technique is unique, requiring a Primordial Yin Body. After what you did to her, she could no longer cultivate. What was the point of keeping her?"

"But..." Lu Ye opened his mouth, unsure of what to say. No wonder he hadn’t seen Ban Ci since then; this was the reason.

Ban Ci was killed by Jiu Yan, but Ban Ci was Jiu Yan’s doppelganger. Should he seek revenge? How could he seek revenge?

He couldn’t possibly take revenge on Jiu Yan; that would be unreasonable.

His mind was in turmoil, the truth he had sought for years was suddenly in front of him, yet Lu Ye found the result wasn’t what he wanted.

Suddenly, he furrowed his brows, "No, that’s not right!"

Jiu Yan blinked, "What’s not right?"

Lu Ye looked at her, "Senior Sister, have you forgotten that I also cultivate secret techniques related to doppelgangers?" If he hadn’t had the Treasure Blood Avatar, he really would have been deceived by Jiu Yan, but upon reflection, some things didn’t add up.

Jiu Yan pursed her red lips and said nothing, while Lu Ye continued, "If you really killed her, how could you know so much about what she experienced? So, you didn’t kill her; you reabsorbed her!"

Just as he would reabsorb his own Treasure Blood Avatar, after reabsorption, everything the Treasure Blood Avatar experienced could be clearly perceived by the original.

"Does it make any difference?" Jiu Yan stubbornly looked at him, "The fact remains that there’s no more Ban Ci in this world!"

"It does make a difference." Lu Ye replied earnestly. If Ban Ci had really been directly killed by Jiu Yan, everything would have disappeared completely. But since she was reabsorbed, it’s different. Ban Ci had become a part of Jiu Yan, or rather, she was a part of Jiu Yan all along, it was only brought forward because of that incident.

Jiu Yan suddenly became exasperated, "I told you all this to let you know that Ban Ci’s matter has nothing to do with me, and I have already been married for a long time."

"Senior Sister has already been married?" Lu Ye was utterly shocked; he had not heard of this before.

Jiu Yan said, "If I wasn’t married, where would Shen’er come from?"

Lu Ye blinked, "Didn’t you pick up Chu Shen?"

"Even this... I’m surprised you look well, it seems you’re almost healed, you should finish your recovery yourself!"

Saying this, Jiu Yan somewhat irritably pushed Lu Ye aside, retreating into a shadow, her heart full of helplessness.

Why does Chu Shen tell others everything?

Moreover, Ban Ci initially appeared to Lu Ye and Chu Shen with a different face, so even if something really happened, Lu Ye shouldn’t have traced it back to her. Yet, in the end, Ban Ci unveiled her true face to Lu Ye.

Ban Ci was her doppelganger; Ban Ci’s actions were a manifestation of her own inner thoughts. But to this day, she hadn’t understood why Ban Ci did that, resulting in today’s awkward situation for her true self.

Maybe... it was dissatisfaction? Perhaps the doppelganger didn’t want Lu Ye to remember a face entirely unrelated to hers.

Originally, she intended to have a good talk with Lu Ye to resolve their issues, but the discussion only made things more complicated instead of solving the problems.

On the other side, Lu Ye was grimacing in pain yet helplessly continued to lie on the ground to slowly heal.

Two days later, Lu Ye felt much better and finally got up to investigate.

For two whole days, Jiu Yan hadn’t paid him any attention.

While healing, Lu Ye had already roughly examined the surroundings. This place looked like an enclosed cabin; a few candles were lit around, the light in the cabin wasn’t dark, but it wasn’t bright either.

Oddly enough, the candles showed no sign of being consumed, as if they could keep burning until the end of time.

There was a window on either side of the cabin, both with large red curtains falling. Straight ahead, there was an exit, tightly closed.

Wasn’t I dragged in by that Spectral Sedan Chair? What is this place?

Bewildered, Lu Ye approached the tightly closed exit straight ahead, raised his hand to push it, but the door didn’t budge. Even using mana, he still couldn’t open it.

Lu Ye frowned, raising his hand to pull out the Boulder Mountain Saber.

Jiu Yan’s voice then rang, "Don’t make a move. If the repercussions of any action touch anything in here, it could lead to bad things happening."

Even without her warning, Lu Ye had sensed it. Almost at the moment he drew the Boulder Mountain Saber, an invisible malevolence enveloped him, suggesting that if he dared to strike, there definitely wouldn’t be a good outcome.

Jiu Yan had obviously experienced this, which was why she warned Lu Ye.

Having started to speak, she didn’t hold back and reminded Lu Ye once more, "It seems we are inside that Spectral Sedan Chair."

"Wasn’t that Spectral Sedan Chair quite small?" Lu Ye asked. Observing from the All Phenomena Ocean previously, the sedan chair seemed small, barely fitting one person. Though this enclosed cabin wasn’t large either, it could hardly fit only one person.

"The inside of the Spectral Sedan Chair holds its mysteries; look outside the window, and you’ll understand."
