Book 3, Chapter 353: Activate For Use

Captain Lu and Captain Wang ignored the combat puppets, because they trusted Xu Chan to hold them back.

The two squad captains were often partners on missions in the merged space and had fought together against mega creatures and some powerful enemies from the imperial army, so they had great teamwork.

While Tiecheng Peng wasn’t inexperienced, it was clear that he seldom ran into martial artists at the same level as he was who also showed such great teamwork. Whenever he wanted to focus on one of them, the other would come forward to hold him back, and he would be forced to abandon executing his attack.

The Elephant Strike Force could lessen the damage he suffered, but when held back and with his attacks intercepted, he couldn’t make full use of his strength. It made him feel like he had invisible ropes tying his hands and feet.

Xu Chan stood still, but his sharp gaze occasionally went to the parts of Tiecheng Peng’s body that he used to generate refined force, and he couldn’t ignore that. He had to use most of his mental energy to guard against potential mental attacks, which put him in an even more passive position.

No matter how strong a person was, this was the most they could do once surrounded by several martial artists at their level. Tiecheng Peng was already doing well by not being defeated right away.

With the three holding Tiecheng Peng back, the bioweapons around the building started stirring and invaded again.

Soon, the domain signals outside were restored, and the two development squad members from Unit One used the biosentient entity sent to them to check what was going on inside.

The one with a moustache was wearing the development squad’s uniform. He checked his breast pocket and brought out some specially made cigarettes that could freshen up the mind. He threw one stick at his team member and pulled out another for himself. After a brief look at the screen, he said with confidence, “He’ll go down soon.”

His team member caught it and blew on the cigarette. It lit up, and he took a puff. Sparks flew out of the cigarette, and the first section fell off in ashes. “The big guy has a good foundation and great combat instincts. He seems to have great potential, so Ferris Wheel must have been pouring resources into him. It’s a pity, really.”

The man was all alone. No matter how great his refined force and combat prowess were, they didn’t help him create a gap in strength. With the teamwork from the three squad captains inside, they could kill him. Besides...

The second Unit One member said languidly, “Lao Xu hasn’t even become serious yet.”

The first Unit One member nodded. They knew just how strong Xu Chan was. He could overpower Tiecheng Peng alone, but he was fighting in a reserved manner.

“Lao Xu is patient. I think he’s saving up energy to fight that thing,” the first Unit One member said.

“True. That’s the real battle. I’m not sure whether we can take that thing down, even if we work together,” his team member said with a nod.

“Sentry Tower said that if no other enemy joins the fight, the five of us should be able to take it down. Besides, we have Safe Shield working with us. The higher-ups aren’t worried about us not being able to take it down. They’re worried about us dragging out the fight so much that things get messy... Ooh, they’re almost done,” the first Unit One member said.

Tiecheng Peng finally lost his cool as the two squad captains kept holding him back, and he decided to take one person out, even if it meant getting hurt in the process. The Elephant Strike Force was a takedown-type refined force. The moment he caught one of them, he could instantly disable the person.

He was forced to do this, because if things continued as they were, the three would slowly cut down the chances in which he could use refined force. In the end, he might get killed without ever being able to execute an attack laced with refined force. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

Right when he made up his mind, Xu Chan showed up next to him, as if he had been waiting for this moment. A long but flexible sword appeared in his hand, and he thrust it into Tiecheng Peng’s stomach.

The tense muscles there didn’t seem to be able to stop it at all. The thin blade pierced through the junction in the mutated tissue and a gap between refined force. It perfectly avoided all obstacles and pierced Tiecheng Peng’s heart.

The organ instantly clamped down on the sword. At the same time, Tiecheng Peng instinctively tensed up. Because of this, the rest of his body became weaker. In order to prevent the refined force in the sword from exploding, he couldn’t release any of the blood essence in his heart. frёewebnoѵēl.com

Captain Lu and Captain Wang attacked. The former punched Tiecheng Peng’s ear, while the latter stabbed Tiecheng Peng’s back with four fingers. Their refined force rushed straight into Tiecheng Peng’s body.

Since his mutated tissue had lost its balance, Tiecheng Peng could no longer generate any refined force to fend against the attacks. Blood gushed out of his eyes, nose, and ears, then his eyes rolled back just as his sturdy spine was snapped cleanly off by a sharp, aggressive refined force.

But Captain Lu and Captain Wang didn’t stop. While Tiecheng Peng had lost all strength to fight back, they continued raining down attacks on his body.

Tiecheng Peng lived up to his status of someone handpicked by Ferris Wheel. His potential and foundation were great. Even if he couldn’t pump out blood essence to the rest of his body, his mutated tissue, bones, and muscles could quickly repair themselves after being destroyed.

This wasn’t just a natural talent. He had taken a lot of specially made nutritional paste, which provided an endless supply of energy to his mutated tissue.

However, it just delayed the inevitable. The conclusion wasn’t going to change.

As the two squad captains continued destroying Tiecheng Peng’s body, his blood gushed out in geysers. Soon, it spilled all over the floor, and he lost consciousness. Even so, he remained standing with his hands in a fighting stance.

Captain Lu and Captain Wang were impressed.

If this were a normal fight, they might have stopped attacking and left things at that, but they were on a purge. For the sake of their comrade’s safety, they couldn’t hold back.

Captain Lu jumped into the air and kicked Tiecheng Peng’s head. His refined force exploded so loudly that it echoed in the hall.

Not only did he destroy Tiecheng Peng’s brain tissue, but he also blasted apart the top half of his head.

Yet even so, Tiecheng Peng remained standing.

Xu Chan took a step back and pulled the sword out of Tiecheng Peng’s body.

He had attacked once during the entire fight and never even used the Heartborn Force. He only seized the perfect chance to pierce through Tiecheng Peng’s body when he was at his weakest while activating refined force. That was all he needed to do to seize victory.

With a wary look, he checked the area around him before ordering, “Continue into the building.”

Then, he cast a glance at a few special places. “And lock down all domain signals.”

The liaison officers sent out by Ferris Wheel rushed over the seabed, bypassed the domain lockdowns, and successfully arrived on shore.

Bioweapons had tried to stop them under the sea, but they were ready. One group rushed forward to act as bait, while the other group retreated.

This entire squad was made of martial artists who could move swiftly underwater and soon arrived on the beach further south.

However, they couldn’t immediately contact the people inside the city. Due to the gaps, there were major domain interferences, and even telegraph stations were useless. They could only rely on biosentient entities to transfer messages.

The squad needed to think of a way to enter the city and reach the biosentient entity planted by Ferris Wheel. Then, they would have to go to Majestic Light District and, through a secret channel, contact the politician who usually spoke up for Ferris Wheel. As long as they could bring this matter to the municipal government, the company would get through the crisis.

They traveled several kilometers south to the base. Some of them went in to get the car and equipment, only to suddenly hear a loud explosion, and the entire building was blasted to high heavens. Even the employees standing outside collapsed on the ground because of the shockwave.

The one standing furthest away shook his head and tried to stand back up. A group of people walking over caught his attention. Despite his blurry vision, he could tell that they wore top hats and trenchcoats.

He opened his mouth but was unable to say anything. The one in the lead took out his pistol when he passed by the employee and shot him. The employee stopped moving.

The person who shot him continued onward. He had his subordinates check the area and fire at anyone who moved. After a while, his subordinates surrounded him. “We’ve killed them all, sir.”

“Two people stay here to guard the place. The rest of us will leave,” the leader said.

Back in Ferris Wheel’s submarine, the directors watched Tiecheng Peng collapse with dark expressions.

They had hoped that he could hold the three departments back a little longer, since they had poured so many resources into him, but he had lasted less than ten minutes.

Mr. Yingwei said, “It has been more than two hours since the battle began. The liaison unit should have reached the shore. If they’re successful, within an hour or two, they’ll contact the politician, provided, that is, they don’t run into any accidents.”

He then turned to the other directors. “Do we have another two hours to spare? The bioweapons have already invaded all corners of the building.”

The screen showed that wherever the bioweapons went, the employees and armed forces of Ferris Wheel were cut into two by the sharp raptorial forelegs. It was a bloody sight.

Then, as the bioweapons’ feelers and compound eyes flashed, they went somewhere else. It looked like they were searching.

“They’re trying to find Wu Qi,” one of the directors said.

“And they’re going to find it soon. Even if we don’t use it, they’re going to find it in less than half an hour. We need to activate it for combat now!” Mr. Yingwei insisted. “Why are you still hesitating?!”

Unlike last time, no director came forward to shoot the idea down. All of them remained silent.

After a while, one of them said gravely, “I agree with Mr. Yingwei.”

With one taking the leap, the others changed their stances as well. After a while, another director said hesitantly, “Same.”

“...Me too.”

“I agree.”

Once most of the directors joined in, the chairperson relented. With a stern expression, he said, “Since this is what you’ve agreed upon, let’s use it.”
