Chapter 839: Chapter 839. Pinned Down
Even with his cultivation sense hampered, Amon could feel the intensifying pressure from Yuka. He didn’t dawdle or second-guess her warning. He dashed in the direction away from her. Yuka might have made it seem like she was targeting the enemy spirit beasts, but he had a suspicion that her real target was him. As for her warning, it was meant for Lin Li.
He saw Lin Li fleeing in another direction. Her speed in fox form was exceptionally fast. She would have no problem putting up a distance. He did not doubt that Yuka had been monitoring Lin Li’s position before she released her buildup energy. The question was whether he could arrive outside the blast zone before she did.
Close behind him was his Titan Puppet. It was flying at a high speed thanks to a jet module attached to its back. The jet module gave it a faster flying speed than Amon. Amon grabbed at it when it arrived beside him. He piggybacked the battle puppet as it zoomed at high speed.
"Show time!" Yuka exclaimed.
She released the accumulated energy. The energy turned into a sphere of mixed white and black that expanded outward. The speed of the sphere’s expansion increased exponentially. All the trees, rocks, living creatures, the ground, and even the mystic mists, were obliterated when the sphere touched them, and it didn’t slow.
Amon commanded the Titan Battle Puppet to dial the jet module’s output to the max. Even so, the white-black sphere was catching up. When it was about to, Amon had the Titan Battle Puppet stop and redirect all its energy to generating a defensive barrier. Amon hid behind the battle puppet’s large frame and used it as a shield.
The white-black sphere washed over them.
The sphere finally stopped after expanding for almost one mile from its origin point. After the sphere dissipated, a large crater was on the ground. It was carved by the sphere. The mists that had cleared slowly returned.
The Titan Battle Puppet had lost all the plating on its back. Its barrier failed to block the sphere from hitting it. Smoke came out of its exposed circuitry. It turned and dropped on its back, revealing Amon, which it had protected using its body.
Even though the Titan Battle Puppet covered Amon, he was not unscathed. His body was full of bloody wounds. He had lost most of his skins. He could still move, but every movement caused him pain.
"Tch! If I don’t have the Law of Darkness, I might have been a goner," Amon uttered.
The white-black sphere was composed of light and darkness elements. He altered the darkness energy in the sphere and made it harmless before the energy touched him. In this way, he had negated half the damage. He couldn’t do anything with the light elements, though. The light elements burned through his Elder God Veil before invading him. The damage he suffered was not only the loss of his skin. The light elements also entered and burned his insides.
He was about to consume a recovery pill when he sensed danger ahead. The Titan Battle Puppet rose and punched into the empty air. It missed.
Amon could lift his arm only a little, putting the Broken Justice in a defensive position before him, when an invisible assault struck him. The same assault also hit the Titan Battle Puppet. The two of them flew back from the impact.
The Chameleon Wyrm came into view. It also survived Yuka’s white-black sphere, but not unscathed. Like Amon, who lost his skin, many of its colorful scales had also come off. Blood oozed from many of its wounds. It flickered a few times. It seemed to have a problem turning invisible again.
Amon vomited a mouthful of blood before cursing, "Stupid beast! You are heavily wounded yourself. Why do you insist on attacking me instead of running away?"
"Gah! I won’t accept suffering all this for nothing! I will at least devour you to help recover my wounds!" The Chameleon Wyrm slapped its tail on the ground. Rocks burst out of the ground that the tail had torn. These rocks became like controlled projectiles and flew toward Amon.
Amon grunted and threw his flying knives using Hundred Shooting Stars. Rocks and knives collided with each other. There were more rocks than knives, so some rocks flew through, but they were stopped by the six Alpha Flying Knives spinning before Amon.
"Gah! You won’t stop me with these tiny weapons!" The Chameleon Wyrm exclaimed. He lunged forward and knocked all six Alpha Flying Knives away. Several small pellets struck it when it was knocking the knives. These pellets exploded into smoke.
"Bah! What is this awful smell?" The Chameleon Wyrm protested. The pellet was Amon’s poison pellets containing Void Volatile Poison. The poison was not strong enough to harm a Higher Primordial Beast, but it was enough for a distraction.
The Chameleon Wyrm was about to resume its offense when it saw that Amon was grinning.
It paused due to the grin. Amon had trouble moving, so why did he smile? It heard the answer in the form of a soft hum. This hum made it turn to the source, which was the giant battle puppet it had knocked away earlier. The puppet remained on the ground but was in a sitting position. The plates covering its chest had opened, revealing something that resembled a giant nozzle. At the center of this nozzle was a glowing orb. Electricity sparked from this glowing orb, and it was growing.
"What...?"
The Chameleon Wyrm wasn’t given the chance to complete its query because the orb suddenly burst. The burst turned into a beam of intense light that rushed forward. The Chameleon Wyrm failed to dodge in time. The beam struck it at its mid-section. It screamed wildly as the beam tore through its body.
The beam didn’t last long. When it ended, the Titan Battle Puppet fell back to the ground. It had expanded its remaining energy. Amon didn’t mind. It had performed its task. The Chameleon Wyrm had been cut into two parts. Both parts were writhing on the ground.
The Chameleon Wyrm uttered with much difficulty as it tried to hang on to its life, "I... I don’t... accept..."
It stopped speaking, and its writhing weakened until it stopped altogether.
Amon grunted as he pushed himself up. He was about to consume the recovery pill when something interrupted him again. Several spears made of wind impaled various parts of his body. These wind spears nailed him to the ground. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
A voice sounded from above. "Impressive. Even in your conditions, you can still evade me from hitting your vital points." fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
Yuka floated down toward Amon. Amon sensed the danger before he was hit, but he was too weak to dodge. All he could do was shift his position so he didn’t suffer fatal wounds.
"Didn’t you say you won’t do anything to me with Lin Li around?" Amon asked.
Yuka chuckled. "She is far away from here. Don’t worry, I have made sure before I came here."
"Do you forget she is my tamed beast? I can transmit what I see to her."
Yuka chuckled again. "I don’t forget. Maybe you don’t know because you have never called her out when you are inside the misty border. I, on the other hand, have a better idea about the energy around this place. It not only disrupts your cultivation senses, but it also prevents you from sending any signals, whether it is via a message talisman or mental link. You can probably feel and gauge her position, but you won’t be able to send complex messages to her, like sharing your senses. She won’t know how you die."
Amon already knew because he had tried contacting Lin Li earlier but failed. He mentioned it, hoping that Yuka was unaware. It appeared he had underestimated her.
Yuka aimed her hand at Amon. That hand broke into multiple tentacles that stretched toward Amon.
"Any last words?" She asked.
Amon responded by releasing battle puppets and altered beasts. He tried to free himself from the wind spears while those minions held Yuka off.
Unfortunately, he underestimated her again. The tentacles from her arm lashed in all directions. Each lash produced a sharp, slashing wind. These winds were imbued with either the power of light or darkness.
Amon tried to free himself from the wind spears, but even after all the battle puppets and altered beasts he had just released were chopped to pieces, he was still unable to get up. On the contrary, he felt his strength weakening. He noticed then that the wind elements from the wind spears were intruding into his body. They produced a soothing effect similar to anaesthetics.
He slowly lost sensations in his body. He felt his mind drifting off. The tentacles from Yuka’s arm approached menacingly.
When Amon was close to his limit, he heard a thundering voice, "Who dares cause trouble in my territory...!!"
He briefly saw Yuka showing a surprise gesture. The mouth on her face no longer grinned. She zoomed away as if she had just seen the most terrifying thing, just as everything was covered in flames. Amon felt blistering heat as his eyes closed against his will.
’Is this it?’ He thought. Whatever was happening, he no longer had control over it.
Soon, everything went dark.
