Chapter 341: Chapter 138: 3 Transforming Jins in One Body, Peak Master Lingxi is Shocked
Her tone carried a hint of nostalgia and anticipation.
Yang Jing glanced sideways at the longing in her eyes and couldn’t help but smile. He nodded gently and replied, "Alright. When we have time in the future, we’ll go visit the Prefecture City and get a good look at it."
’Once I pass the Dragon Gate martial trial and successfully advance to the Inner Sect, I’ll have more standing,’ he mused. ’Then I’ll take Sun Ningxiang to see the Prefecture City. That’ll be my way of fulfilling today’s promise.’
The two of them stood quietly by the lake for a while, enjoying the breeze blowing across its surface. Then, Yang Jing suggested, "Senior Sister, let’s go to the mail room and see if Master has sent a letter."
Sun Ningxiang nodded immediately and followed Yang Jing toward the mail room beside the pier plaza.
The mail room was a small wooden cabin. Inside sat an Outer Sect Disciple in charge of sending and receiving letters.
Yang Jing stepped forward and asked, "Senior Brother, are there any letters from Yuhe County for Yang Jing or Sun Ningxiang?"
Upon hearing this, the Outer Sect Disciple flipped through the letters on the desk, pulled one out, and handed it over, saying, "There’s only one for Yang Jing. None for Sun Ningxiang."
Yang Jing hurriedly accepted the letter, then took out his Contribution Points Jade Token and handed it to the steward to verify his identity.
Once his identity was confirmed, he took the letter and walked out of the mail room with Sun Ningxiang.
Yang Jing eagerly tore open the envelope, pulled out the letter inside, and read it carefully.
The letter was, surprisingly, from his Fourth Senior Brother, Liu Maolin.
The letter said this was the first time he had sent mail to the Xuanzhen Sect; he had to ask their Master for the proper method and address.
He was still at home recovering from his injuries. Once he was fully healed, he would be escorting a shipment of medicinal herbs to Jintai Prefecture City and would stop by to see the two of them on his way.
The letter also mentioned that kid, Jiang Haoyang. Apparently, the boy came to see Liu Maolin every day, pestering him to get well soon so he could tag along for the visit.
After reading every word of the letter, Yang Jing gently stroked the paper with his fingertips, his heart filled with emotion.
The paper was thin, but it carried the well wishes of his old friends from Yuhe County. He thought of his Master’s advice at the Martial Arts Hall, his Fourth Senior Brother’s care, and Jiang Haoyang’s lively antics, and a quiet sense of longing welled up inside him.
He had been away from Yuhe County for over half a month. Usually, he was too busy with his cultivation to feel homesick, but reading Senior Brother Liu’s letter now, fragments of the past flashed before his eyes, feeling exceptionally real.
Sun Ningxiang, standing by his side, saw the emotion on Yang Jing’s face after he finished the letter. Empathizing with his feelings, she said softly, "When we have some free time, we’ll go back and visit."
Yang Jing put the letter away, folding it and tucking it inside his robes. He turned to Sun Ningxiang and gave a firm nod. "Yeah, we’ll definitely go back. Yuhe County has our Master, our senior brothers, and my family. Those are my roots. I have to go back and see them, no matter what."
The two of them strolled around the pier plaza for a while longer, chatting about the old days at the Martial Arts Hall. It wasn’t until the sun had climbed higher in the sky that they started to head back.
They still passed many disciples coming and going along the path. Yang Jing walked Sun Ningxiang all the way to the foot of Yunxi Peak, watching as she climbed the stone steps, turning back occasionally to wave.
He didn’t turn to head back toward Lingxi Peak until her figure had disappeared around a bend in the mountain path.
After returning to Lingxi Peak, Yang Jing didn’t pause for a moment, heading straight for the Training Room on the mountainside.
Having just entered the Xuanzhen Sect, seeing the Inner Sect Disciples moving with such incredible skill made Yang Jing feel an even more urgent need to raise his cultivation to the Peak of Transformation, pass the Dragon Gate martial trial, and enter the Inner Sect.
Once inside the Training Room, he quickly focused his mind and threw himself wholeheartedly into honing his fist techniques. His Inner Strength circulated more and more smoothly, and his forms became increasingly adept.
...
Time slipped by quietly.
In the blink of an eye, another month had passed.
During this time, Yang Jing’s life fell into the same daily routine: shuttling between his residence, the Training Room, and his late-night training spot.
The only thing that puzzled Yang Jing was that the small stream where he used to bathe had been filled in for some unknown reason.
Yang Jing found this quite a shame. After all, he no longer had a place to bathe immediately after training.
One morning, Yang Jing woke up at his usual time. After a quick wash, he left Lingxi Peak and headed to the dining hall in the center of Fushan Island for a meal.
The dining hall was as bustling as ever. He ordered a meal of Exotic Beast Meat, finished it quickly, and then got up to return to Lingxi Peak.
The mountain path was exceptionally quiet in the early morning. The only sound was his crisp, rhythmic footsteps on the stone stairs.
Back at his residential courtyard, Yang Jing pushed open the gate and walked in. The yard was perfectly still; the only thing to be seen was unmelted frost clinging to the withered grass in the corner.
He went straight to his room, pushed the door open, and went inside to grab the water flask he used every day. After filling it, he tucked it into his robes and turned to leave for the Training Room.
Just as he stepped out of his room, Yang Jing caught sight of two figures standing in the middle of the courtyard: they were none other than Zhao Hongxiang and Su Qingyue.
The two of them were huddled together, whispering about something. Zhao Hongxiang wore a determined expression, while Su Qingyue agreed with a somewhat fawning look on her face.
Noticing Yang Jing’s gaze, Zhao Hongxiang merely shot him an indifferent glance before looking away and continuing his conversation with Su Qingyue. He then turned and left the courtyard, seemingly on some urgent business.
Seeing this, Su Qingyue hurried after him. As she passed Yang Jing, she let out a scoff, showing no intention of acknowledging him whatsoever. She followed Zhao Hongxiang straight out of the courtyard, leaving Yang Jing standing there alone.
