Chapter 267: Chapter 266: No Rush, Wait a Little Longer

After looking around the office, Fang Chenyi came to a new realization. He could tell from this room alone that its occupant was a very ambitious man.

He casually sat on the guest sofa, with Qi Xiaotian standing behind him. His father-in-law sat down beside him.

Lu Zhisen, who was at the door, saw Fang Chenyi’s discourteous behavior and couldn’t help but feel annoyed. He secretly resolved to put him in his place during the meeting.

’This company may be yours,’ he thought, ’but you’d better understand that around here, I, Lu Zhisen, am the one who calls the shots!’

Despite these thoughts, a smile spread across his face.

He then walked over and sat down directly across from Fang Chenyi without asking for permission.

Of course, Lu Zhisen saw nothing wrong with his actions. ’When I dealt with the last chairman, I was usually the one sitting behind the desk,’ he thought. ’If I wasn’t so unsure about this new chairman’s background, I wouldn’t be sitting here so cautiously.’

Lu Zhisen might have thought nothing of it, but the act made Fang Chenyi frown. ’Looks like this guy is even more arrogant than I imagined.’

He coolly glanced at Lu Zhisen and spoke before the man could say a word.

"I told you to notify all the senior executives for a meeting. Did you do it?"

Lu Zhisen froze. He had completely forgotten about that. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

He gave an embarrassed laugh.

"Ha! My apologies. I was so focused on welcoming you as soon as you arrived that it completely slipped my mind. I’ll... I’ll send out the notice right now."

After speaking, Lu Zhisen called out toward the office’s inner room, "Xiaolü, are you done with those documents? Once you’re finished, hurry and tell the senior executives to meet in Conference Room 2."

The words had barely left his mouth when a tall woman in a business suit hurried out from the inner room, her head lowered. Mumbling that the documents were ready and that she would send the notice immediately, she rushed out to the secretary’s office.

But Fang Chenyi’s eyes missed nothing.

Even though the woman kept her head down, Fang Chenyi clearly saw that her lips were bright red, as if she had just eaten hot peppers. He also noticed several tears in her stockings.

As a man of the world, Fang Chenyi instantly understood what had been going on. It also explained why the secretary’s office near the entrance had been empty.

He recalled the disheveled woman who had rushed out earlier and felt a wave of disgust. ’The old bastard is a dirty old man, too.’

’But none of that is my concern.’ He turned and suddenly called out to the secretary, who had just reached the door.

"Hey, wait a second. Don’t just get the senior executives. I want all management, including mid- and lower-level, to come to the meeting!"

Upon hearing this, the secretary instinctively glanced at Lu Zhisen.

She already knew who Fang Chenyi was, both from the earlier phone call and from what happened in the back room, yet she still looked to Lu Zhisen for confirmation.

Lu Zhisen’s brow furrowed for a moment, but his smile quickly returned.

"What are you looking at me for? Didn’t you hear the Chairman? Go on, hurry. Tell all the managers. They are to come to the meeting even if it means halting all work!"

Though he seemed to be agreeing with Fang Chenyi, even Qi Xiaotian could detect the underlying threat in his words.

As the target of the remark, Fang Chenyi certainly heard it as well.

’What’s that supposed to mean, "even if it means halting all work"? Is he trying to tell me he can get the entire company to go on strike?’

But this wasn’t the time for a confrontation, so Fang Chenyi pretended he hadn’t heard a thing.

His father-in-law, sitting beside him, also remained silent. He was well aware that he didn’t have the standing to interfere, so it was best to listen more and speak less.

Fang Chenyi was quite satisfied with this. ’A person in power doesn’t need to be a great debater. As long as they understand what’s going on, that’s what matters. After all, I plan to hand this massive company over to him someday.’

With that, Fang Chenyi showed no further intention of speaking with Lu Zhisen.

Seeing this, Lu Zhisen took the initiative to speak.

"Heh, Chairman, since we have a moment, I’d like to bring something up. The finance director just came to me to explain the situation. I’ve already given her a harsh reprimand. As I mentioned before, she’s one of our veteran employees. What do you say we just let her off with a fine?"

Fang Chenyi ignored him, rising and walking directly to the massive floor-to-ceiling window. Though the building was only thirty stories tall, from here, he could still overlook most of Gzhou City.

Looking down at the ant-like stream of people below, he sighed to himself. ’Standing at the very summit... no wonder it makes you feel superior to everyone else.’

He casually pulled out his phone, found his recent contact, Brother Xiaoma, and sent him a message.

A minute later, Fang Chenyi received a reply.

Looking at the three words on the screen, "On my way," a confident smile played on Fang Chenyi’s lips.

Standing before the window, the endless flow of people far below, hands clasped behind his back and a confident smile on his face, Fang Chenyi cut a tall and dashing figure.

Still on the sofa, Lu Zhisen stared at that imposing back, and an inexplicable sense of unease washed over him.

But he quickly scoffed inwardly. ’You little brat, still wet behind the ears. I’ll show you who you’re dealing with soon enough.’

Fang Chenyi stood at the window, gazing down. His father-in-law leaned back on the sofa, pretending to doze. Qi Xiaotian remained motionless behind the sofa. As for Lu Zhisen, he sat plotting his next move. For a moment, time seemed to stand still.

KNOCK KNOCK.

Half an hour later, the secretary pushed the door open and entered. Sensing the tense atmosphere in the room, she looked cautiously toward Lu Zhisen and spoke.

"President Lu, all the managers currently in the building have gathered in Conference Room 2."

Lu Zhisen waved a hand to show he understood and waited for the secretary to close the door behind her. Then he stood up, looked at Fang Chenyi, and said...

"Chairman, everyone’s here. Shall we head over?"

Fang Chenyi didn’t turn or even look back. He just said calmly...

"What’s the rush? Let them wait."

The corner of Lu Zhisen’s mouth twitched. He had suggested they go, and the kid had told him to wait. He was clearly trying to make things difficult for him.

But Lu Zhisen didn’t get angry. ’This just proves he has the mentality of a child...’ he thought.
