Chapter 183: Chapter 183: Blind Date Procedure: A Self-Introduction?
Yun Zijin nodded seriously. That was, indeed, a different way of thinking about it.
"It’s nice."
She couldn’t very well say she disliked it.
Still, the fact that her landlady and Grandma Xu had been so thoughtful actually made Yun Zijin quite happy.
"If you don’t like this style, can you tell me what style you do like?"
’If this blind date is a success, then our marital home can be decorated in a style Yun Zijin likes,’ he thought.
"I don’t really have a particular favorite. I haven’t paid much attention to it."
Both Xingyu Mansion and her home at Jade Lake came fully furnished, so Yun Zijin had never had to worry about interior design styles.
"It seems you just haven’t found a style you’re passionate about yet. From now on, if I see any unique designs, I’ll share them with you. We can see if you like any of them."
It was fine if she couldn’t find one now. After seeing enough of them, she would naturally figure out what kind of design style she preferred.
"Okay."
Lu Yunque’s desire to share things with her showed that he was genuinely thinking of her. Yun Zijin felt that since she didn’t have anyone she liked at the moment, and she had already agreed to this blind date, it was only natural for them to get to know each other a little.
"Let’s order first. We haven’t eaten together very often, so I was worried I might order something you don’t like. That’s why I didn’t order ahead.
See if there’s anything you like. Order whatever you want."
Lu Yunque had specifically asked the waiter to prepare two menus, and he handed one to Yun Zijin.
"I’m not a picky eater. You can order whatever."
"Alright, I’ll order ahead next time. But for now, let’s see what you’d like to eat."
Yun Zijin nodded and began to flip through the menu in her hands.
Unlike the digital menus at other restaurants, Lan Gui Fang still used traditional paper menus, which instantly added a sense of ceremony to ordering.
"Just write down the code next to the dish you want on this slip. When you’re done, I’ll call the waiter to pick it up."
"Okay."
Yun Zijin tore off an order slip, took a pen from the holder in the middle of the table, and held it in her hand.
"Do you have any dietary restrictions?"
’A domineering CEO type like Lu Yunque is probably pretty picky, right? Maybe he doesn’t eat things with strong flavors, or can’t handle spicy food because of stomach problems.’
"No, you can order whatever you like."
This was one of the few restaurants that suited Lu Yunque’s palate. When he was too busy with work to have a proper meal, he would often order delivery from them.
The chefs here all knew his dietary restrictions, so there was no need to specifically inform Yun Zijin. Any dish brought to the table would be something he could eat.
After asking, Yun Zijin had a better idea of what to do.
There were only two of them, so to avoid waste, Yun Zijin only ordered four dishes: three entrees and a soup.
Finally, she ordered a pot of Pu’er tea to serve as their beverage.
"I’m done ordering. Want to take a look?"
"Looks fine. These are all things I like to eat. I’ll call the waiter in."
With that, Lu Yunque pressed the call button on the wall.
A waiter came over shortly. Seeing Yun Zijin and Lu Yunque eating alone together, the waiter looked like they were dying for some gossip but didn’t quite dare to indulge.
They quickly took the order slip and left the private room.
Lu Yunque’s face was just too recognizable in Dijing. Wherever he appeared, the gossip mill went into overdrive.
"Mr. Lu, you really are recognized everywhere you go."
Watching the waiter’s departing back, Yun Zijin couldn’t help but tease him a little.
"If you mind, I can wear a mask when I go out."
No matter what, he couldn’t let Yun Zijin think he was an unreliable philanderer.
Yun Zijin quickly waved her hands. "No, no. Being recognized at a glance just means people pay a lot of attention to you. It’s a reflection of your personal capabilities."
Some people wished they could be recognized on the street but didn’t have that kind of influence.
Of course, Yun Zijin wouldn’t think this small matter was Lu Yunque’s fault.
"As long as you don’t mind. Then, shall I... introduce myself first?"
This was Lu Yunque’s first blind date too, and he didn’t know how to handle it, but a self-introduction seemed like a mandatory step.
With Lu Yunque suddenly getting so formal, Yun Zijin couldn’t be flippant anymore.
"Go ahead, I’m listening."
Before he even spoke, Lu Yunque was already a little nervous.
"Name: Lu Yunque. Gender: Male. Age: 28. Currently employed as the CEO of the Lu Group. I own a house, a car, and have savings. I currently hold 21% of the Lu Group’s shares..."
"Wait a minute. I don’t think you need to mention things like how many shares you own."
’Knowing too much can shorten your life.’
Yun Zijin had no desire to know this kind of confidential information.
"Since this is a blind date, it’s necessary for me to clearly explain my situation. That way, you can more accurately consider whether or not you want to continue developing things with me."
Although he had been the one to initiate this date, Lu Yunque never thought he could be 100% certain that Yun Zijin would agree to be with him.
But before he had an answer, he was willing to lay out everything he possessed, to at least let Yun Zijin know he was capable of providing her a standard of living no less than what she currently enjoyed.
"Well... you don’t have to be that detailed. We’ve actually known each other for a while and have a certain understanding of one another. I have my own judgment about what kind of person you are. You suddenly making things so formal is a bit... unsettling for me."
"So, should I continue my self-introduction?"
Lu Yunque was having a little trouble following Yun Zijin’s train of thought.
"No, no, that’s not necessary. We can talk about these things later... So, should I introduce myself too?"
Being on her first blind date, Yun Zijin also wasn’t quite sure what to say.
"No need. I already know all about you."
He was afraid that if Yun Zijin introduced herself, she would bring up the Xia Family again, and Lu Yunque didn’t want her to reopen those unpleasant wounds.
"So... we skip the introductions. What’s the next step in the process?"
Yun Zijin tried to recall how blind dates were portrayed in TV dramas.
’Oh, right, the female lead meets all sorts of weirdos, and the male lead runs into gold diggers...’
’None of those seem like normal blind dates. Not very helpful for reference...’
"After dinner, shall we go see a movie?"
This was the top-ranked activity on a "Top 10 Things to Do on a Date" guide that Lu Yunque had looked up.
"Sure."
Since Lu Yunque had a plan, Yun Zijin was happy to just go along with it.
"Do you prefer to book out the entire theater, or watch with other people?"
Lu Yunque had never been to a public movie theater before, so he wasn’t sure what was appropriate.
Adhering to the good habit of asking when you don’t know, Lu Yunque asked her directly.
"There’s no need to book the whole theater. The whole point of going to a cinema is for the atmosphere of watching a movie with a crowd."
"Then I’ll have Mo Bin book two tickets for 7:30. Is there anything you want to see?"
Yun Zijin hadn’t been paying attention to recently released movies, so she didn’t really know.
Okay, to be honest, she hadn’t been to the movies many times herself.
"I haven’t been following them either. Why don’t you have Assistant Mo pick one with good ratings?"
Lu Yunque hadn’t looked into it either. Since Yun Zijin said that, he would just tell Mo Bin the same thing.
As for how Mo Bin would choose, that was Mo Bin’s business. If the movie turned out to be bad, it would be Mo Bin’s bad taste.
