Chapter 166: Chapter 166: The Huo Family’s Security System Is Cracked

Mo Bin: ...

’If you’d said so earlier, I wouldn’t have had to go on so many blind dates,’ he lamented internally. All of them had ended in failure because he was constantly forced to interrupt them for work.

Thirty-eight blind dates, and he was still single.

"Yes, thank you for your understanding, President!"

He was complaining internally, of course, but he would never dare say it out loud.

Saying one thing and meaning another—a necessary survival instinct for any professional.

*

The Huo family.

Out of curiosity, Fang Shuxin had Zero One and his team, who were originally hidden in various corners of the Huo residence, summoned to the great hall of the main house.

Even Huo Wenqing, a man who had traveled far and wide and seen much of the world, was intrigued upon seeing Zero One and his six companions.

He was certain that when Fang Shuxin and Yun Zijin had entered, no one had come in with them except for the driver.

So, the question was: how on earth had Yun Zijin’s bodyguards managed to bypass the Huo family’s security system?

And it wasn’t just one person—it was seven. This made it glaringly obvious to Huo Wenqing that the security system at the Huo Family’s Old Mansion was not as robust as he’d thought.

"Care to share how you managed to breach our security system?"

The Huo family’s security system was a decommissioned model from the military, which he had only managed to acquire by calling in a favor with the Lu family’s patriarch.

It may have been decommissioned, but it was far more reliable than the commercially available systems and all their overblown claims.

But now, he was being told that people had slipped in completely undetected.

For a moment, Huo Wenqing almost suspected the system had simply malfunctioned.

Zero One didn’t speak, and neither did the others.

’They couldn’t possibly admit that, to them, the Huo family’s security system was riddled with holes, could they?’

That would be rather insulting.

Yun Zijin grew a little nervous. ’After all, what Zero One and the others did could technically be considered trespassing, right?’

"Grandpa Huo, um... is it possible... that the security system just happened to be off today? They absolutely mean no harm!"

’Looks like I can’t just have them lurking in the shadows whenever we go out from now on,’ she thought. She really couldn’t handle another situation like this.

"Miss Yun, do you really think the Huo family’s security staff would make such a critical mistake?"

He might be retired, but he’d made more than a few enemies in his day. The security system was on 24/7 and would never be turned off barring an emergency.

It wasn’t that he was angry. A man who had lived as long as he had wasn’t going to get petty with the younger generation over something like this.

He was simply curious as to how Zero One and his team had pulled it off.

"Don’t you worry, your Grandpa Huo isn’t a petty man," Fang Shuxin chimed in. "He probably just wants to know how your bodyguards managed to get past the security system and into the house."

"That way, he might even be able to use the information to upgrade the system..."

’Granted, their family was using a decommissioned version, but you never know,’ she thought. ’After all, no one knew exactly what features the newer models had upgraded.’

"Well... how about I have them draw you a map of their routes? You could have someone study it. Don’t ask me, though—I don’t know anything. I haven’t even graduated from college yet."

’If anyone asks, I’m just an uneducated girl who doesn’t know anything.’ That was her strategy.

"Excellent, excellent. Have them draw the route maps. Even if the higher-ups have no use for them, I can have my own people use them to upgrade our home security."

Finding a vulnerability is a good thing; you just have to patch it. The real fear is knowing a vulnerability exists but not being able to find it.

"In that case, could you please get them some pens and paper? Don’t worry, their freehand drawing skills are quite good."

’How could they not be skilled? They were chosen by the System to be her bodyguards, after all.’

"Housekeeper Liu, go to my study and bring out some paper and pens."

Housekeeper Liu acknowledged the order and hurried off in the direction of Huo Wenqing’s study.

Just then, the sound of a car engine came from outside.

"Is that my little sparrow returning?"

The sound of the car was instantly familiar to Fang Shuxin.

She immediately stood up and walked eagerly toward the entrance.

Housekeeper Liu hadn’t returned with the pen and paper yet, and Yun Zijin didn’t feel it was right to leave abruptly, so she could only offer Huo Wenqing an awkward smile.

As Lu Yunque stepped out of the car, he saw Fang Shuxin waiting at the door. His usually cool and detached expression softened considerably.

"Grandma."

"There you are! Come in, quickly. Zijin is inside talking with your grandfather."

Unfortunately, when the two of them walked in, the living room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, making Fang Shuxin feel momentarily awkward.

Thankfully, Housekeeper Liu returned with the pens and paper just then, saving Fang Shuxin from her embarrassment.

"Miss Yun, here are seven pens, and the paper."

The paper was standard A4 size, and from the thickness of the stack, there were clearly more than seven sheets.

Yun Zijin pushed the pens and paper toward Zero One and his team. "Go ahead. Just draw it exactly as it happened."

’If this really leads to an upgrade for their security system, then this will all have been worth it,’ she thought.

Zero One gave a slight nod, took a pen and a sheet of paper, found a convenient spot, and began to draw the route map.

Since Yun Zijin had given the order and Zero One had no objections, Ling Er and the others certainly weren’t going to argue. They each took a pen and paper and began to map out their individual routes into the Huo residence.

"What’s going on here?"

"The security system your grandfather spent a fortune on was just breached," Fang Shuxin explained. "Now he’s having them draw route maps."

A look of surprise crossed Lu Yunque’s face. He knew all about the security system at the Huo Family’s Old Mansion.

He had been present for some of the haggling between his maternal grandfather and his paternal grandfather, so he knew Grandpa Huo had promised the Lu patriarch quite a few favors in exchange for that system.

Of course, the system was worth the price.

He never imagined Yun Zijin’s bodyguards would crack it on their first try. His grandfather’s pride was probably going to be wounded for a long time.

"Is Grandpa okay?"

"What could be wrong with him? He’s already scheming about how to use these maps to upgrade his security system."

Still, Fang Shuxin suspected that whatever vulnerabilities they’d exploited had likely already been patched in the latest models currently in use by the military. At most, this information would help upgrade the Huo family’s outdated system.

Lu Yunque glanced at Zero One and his team, thinking that it was entirely possible.

"It’s getting late," Fang Shuxin announced. "I’ll have the kitchen start serving dinner."

The kitchen staff had been preparing dinner for a while, but Fang Shuxin had told them to take their time since Lu Yunque hadn’t arrived yet.

Now that he was here, they could proceed as normal.

"Zijin, have them stop drawing for now. They can finish after dinner; there’s no rush."

Evidently, Fang Shuxin intended for Zero One and his team to join them at the dinner table.

This was also the first time in many days that Yun Zijin and Lu Yunque had seen each other.

Yun Zijin had noticed Lu Yunque the moment he walked in, but she felt a little awkward and didn’t say hello.

Perhaps not wanting her to feel he was being too forward, Lu Yunque didn’t approach her directly either. He simply offered her a natural smile whenever their eyes met.

"It’ll be a while before the kitchen is ready. I see they’re drawing quite quickly, so let’s just wait a bit longer."

Huo Wenqing was already eager to submit the route maps.

If they genuinely proved helpful, then he would have done his duty.
