Chapter 164: Chapter 164: Do I Really Have to Go on This Blind Date?
The other customers were unhappy, but after seeing the bodyguards with Yun Zijin, they had no choice but to compromise.
A few cups were better than nothing.
Fortunately, when Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong had the shop designed, they’d made the preparation area quite large. Even with four people inside, it didn’t feel crowded.
Yun Zijin made six cups of Wangyou Milk Tea in one go. After setting aside the one for Fang Shuxin, five cups remained.
"You can handle these. I’m heading out!"
Yun Zijin left the five finished cups of Wangyou Milk Tea for Qin Sitong to deal with, then took her landlady’s order and left the preparation area without a second thought.
Qin Sitong felt a little resentful. Yun Zijin was certainly committed to being a completely hands-off boss.
"Grandma, your Wangyou Milk Tea is ready!"
Yun Zijin placed the Wangyou Milk Tea in front of Fang Shuxin and smoothly returned to her original seat.
"Great! Let me have a taste. If it’s not as good as the one the other young lady makes, I’ll be asking for a refund."
Fang Shuxin said, half-joking.
Yun Zijin raised an eyebrow. "You’ll know once you try it."
Although she personally believed her Wangyou Milk Tea tasted identical to Qin Sitong’s, the customers’ strong preference for hers told her that her version must have something that Qin Sitong’s lacked.
But Yun Zijin didn’t delve into it. After all, she rarely made the tea herself.
Fang Shuxin picked up the Wangyou Milk Tea and took a sip. She was instantly, pleasantly surprised.
If Qin Sitong’s Wangyou Milk Tea could make her recall her happiest memories, giving her a sense of being there, then Yun Zijin’s version made her feel as if she had truly returned to that time. It even restored details that had grown hazy in her memory.
At that moment, Fang Shuxin finally understood why the customers were so much more eager to drink the Wangyou Milk Tea made by Yun Zijin.
Although both had a special effect, Yun Zijin’s was clearly the enhanced version.
"So? Mine’s just as good as Tongtong’s, isn’t it?"
Yun Zijin was confident in her own handiwork.
"Mhm, it’s delicious."
Fang Shuxin didn’t mention the difference between them. Qin Sitong’s version was excellent in its own right and was definitely good enough to be the Wangyou Milk Tea Shop’s signature item.
"Zijin, do you remember what I said last time about introducing you to one of my grandsons?"
Halfway through her drink, Fang Shuxin suddenly brought up the blind date she wanted to arrange for Yun Zijin.
Yun Zijin nearly spat out the sip of Wangyou Milk Tea she had just taken. She couldn’t avoid choking on it.
"COUGH, COUGH!"
Fang Shuxin quickly stood up and patted Yun Zijin on the back.
"Did I startle you? Sigh! I really have no choice."
Once Yun Zijin had recovered, Fang Shuxin returned to her seat and began to sigh dramatically.
"What’s wrong? If there’s anything I can do to help, I’ll do it!"
Fang Shuxin had been very kind to Yun Zijin, so seeing her looking so troubled, Yun Zijin couldn’t bear it.
"Really?"
As soon as Yun Zijin spoke, Fang Shuxin’s eyes lit up. But then, probably feeling she was being too obvious, she quickly composed herself.
Although Yun Zijin felt like something was a little off, she still nodded. "Go on."
"Well... how about you meet my grandson? I’m not asking you to date him or anything. Just meet him. If it works out, great. If not, no big deal."
’Anyway, I’ve fulfilled Little sparrow’s request. Whether or not he can win the girl is up to him now.’
Yun Zijin was silent for a moment before asking, "The grandson you’re referring to is..."
’I’ve met two men from the Lu Family’s younger generation so far.’
"You’ve met him! The one you saw when you returned the key. Little sparrow is my younger grandson. My older grandson is away all year, so I can’t meddle in his affairs."
Yun Zijin blinked. ’So I really have to go on this blind date, don’t I?’
’I haven’t even graduated from college yet. Isn’t this a little too rushed?’
’Then again, I heard you get extra academic credits if you get married before graduating...’
’But I’ve already earned enough credits, so it’s not like I need them.’
"Lu Yunque?"
She remembered hearing Grandma Xu call him "Little sparrow" at Old Mr. Lu’s birthday banquet.
’It’s kind of cute.’
"That’s him! He’s a little older, sure, but older men know how to dote on you. And he’s not bad-looking—just a little less handsome than his grandfather was back in the day.
Once you’re married, half his assets will be yours. It’s a good deal no matter how you look at it, right?
Ugly guys can be scumbags, and handsome guys can be scumbags, so why not pick the handsome one?
And if he ever dares to bully you, you just tell me! I’ll have his mom, his grandfather, and his uncles beat him into shape!"
It had to be said, although Fang Shuxin was over fifty, her way of thinking was incredibly modern.
Yun Zijin was left completely stunned by this rapid-fire pitch.
"I... I guess that’s okay. But does Lu Yunque agree? Please don’t arrange this without his consent, or I might get stood up."
She and Lu Yunque got along well as friends, and he had even seemed to confess his feelings for her before. Still, for something like a blind date, Yun Zijin felt it was best to inform the person in question ahead of time.
"Don’t worry, don’t worry, it won’t be a problem. So, shall we... set a time?"
On the verge of success, Fang Shuxin wanted to lock things down to prevent any complications.
"I’m flexible. It should depend on his schedule."
Yun Zijin was enjoying a relatively quiet period, while Lu Yunque was the busy one.
"Great! I’ll go home and nail down a time with Little sparrow, and I’ll book a nice restaurant for you two!"
Fang Shuxin planned to handle the restaurant booking herself. To increase the chances of a successful blind date, the ambiance was crucial.
She truly liked Yun Zijin. If she could really make Yun Zijin her granddaughter-in-law, she would wake up from her dreams laughing with joy.
"Oh, enough about that. I bought a lot of things while I was traveling and brought back a gift for you, too.
I didn’t expect to run into you here. Why don’t you come back home with me in a little while and pick it up?"
Now that the blind date between Yun Zijin and Lu Yunque was settled, Fang Shuxin let her personality shine.
She had always been a free spirit. Before she was married, her father and brothers doted on her. After she married, her husband and sons did the same. It was safe to say she had lived a very pleasant life.
So, even though she was now over fifty, she still had a very bubbly personality. If it weren’t for the age gap, she and Yun Zijin could have easily become the best of friends.
As it was, their relationship was no different from a friendship that transcended generations.
"I couldn’t possibly. You’ve already helped me so much, and I haven’t even had a chance to give you a proper thank-you gift. How could I accept another gift from you?"
Yun Zijin hadn’t expected Fang Shuxin to bring her a gift back from her trip; she was truly flattered.
"It’s nothing. I just feel like we have a special connection, so I was thinking of you. I wouldn’t do this for just anyone!
You’ve finished your milk tea. Come on, come on, follow me back home to get your gift."
