Chapter 141: Chapter 141: The Power of a Lucky Streak

When no one else was looking, she followed the instructions from Randomly Spend and stealthily patted it onto herself.

’Since it’s a Fortune Talisman, I’m quite curious to see what it does.’

Not even two minutes after Yun Zijin used the Fortune Talisman, she felt a force yanking her fishing rod downward.

"A bite! A bite! Zijing has a fish on the line too."

Li Yuexing had been focused on Sheng Tian, but when he turned his head, he saw that Yun Zijin also had a fish on the line.

He shouted excitedly and ran over to Yun Zijin’s side.

Yun Zijin wracked her brain, trying to recall the key points Lu Yunque had just told her about reeling in a fish. It was a struggle, and the fish almost got away halfway through, but she managed to land it without any real trouble.

"Wow! Zijing, it looks like yours is a little bigger than Sheng Tian’s."

At Li Yuexing’s words, Sheng Tian’s face fell.

"The competition just started! It’s only one fish. It’s not over until it’s over!"

Sheng Tian could tell at a glance that Yun Zijin genuinely didn’t know how to fish. Although Sheng Tian didn’t have much experience herself, she was practically an expert compared to Yun Zijin.

Therefore, she was very confident she would win this competition.

Yun Zijin, however, paid them little mind. She was more interested in seeing how effective the Fortune Talisman was.

And Randomly Spend certainly didn’t disappoint. About two or three minutes after she caught the first fish, she got another bite. Yun Zijin almost didn’t react in time, and it was Li Yuexing, who happened to be standing beside her, who helped her out.

Looking at the two fish flopping energetically in her bucket, Yun Zijin glanced over at Sheng Tian ten meters away, her eyes brimming with undisguised provocation.

Sheng Tian was so incensed by Yun Zijin that she turned pale with rage. If Sheng Hao hadn’t held her back, she might have marched over and started a fight.

The allotted time wasn’t up yet, so Yun Zijin re-baited her hook and cast her line back into the water.

Just then, Lu Yunque returned, followed by several waiters carrying trays.

As he passed Sheng Tian, Lu Yunque didn’t even slow down, leading the waiters right over to Yun Zijin before stopping.

"I was afraid other snacks would make you feel bloated, so I brought you some pastries instead.

There’s osmanthus cake, almond crisps, and this new item from the kitchen, a jujube and yam cake. If you’re hungry, you can have a little something to tide you over.

There are drinks, too. Just grab whatever you like."

The waiters had brought quite an assortment, and Lu Yunque placed everything on the small, low table beside Yun Zijin.

Yun Zijin was now catching a fish every three to four minutes on average. She had no time to talk to Lu Yunque, let alone a free hand to eat.

As for Sheng Tian, her eyes had been glued to Lu Yunque since the moment he returned. Seeing him lead the waiters with the food straight to Yun Zijin soured her mood even further.

"They have new pastries? Let me try!"

Fu Ze had wandered over at some point. He hadn’t heard Lu Yunque listing the pastries for Yun Zijin, but he did catch the words "new item."

Yun Zijin hadn’t touched the food, but Fu Ze was already helping himself.

Lu Yunque shot him a glare, stopping him from taking a second piece.

"I had the kitchen prepare more. Someone will bring it over in a minute. If you want some, you can eat then."

Of course, Lu Yunque wouldn’t ignore everyone else for Yun Zijin’s sake. It was just that they would have to wait for the second batch if they wanted some.

"That’s later. I have a feeling this batch will taste better."

Food always tastes better off someone else’s plate.

Half an hour passed quickly. Yun Zijin’s bucket was nearly full, while Sheng Tian’s contained only a few scattered fish of varying sizes.

The result of the competition was perfectly clear, even without weighing the fish.

However, to prevent anyone from complaining, Yun Zijin still had Lu Yunque and the others bring out the scales.

The buckets were identical, so they each placed their haul on the scales. The difference in weight was, to put it mildly, enormous.

"You... you cheated! There’s no way this is your first time fishing!"

’Catching a full bucket of fish on her first try?’ No matter how Sheng Tian thought about it, something felt wrong.

"I can swear this is my first time fishing. Can Miss Sheng do the same?

As for catching a whole bucket on my first try... well, that just means I’m exceptionally talented."

Yun Zijin had no qualms about praising herself when the occasion called for it.

"Sheng Tian! A bet’s a bet!"

Sheng Hao cut Sheng Tian off before she could say another word. If Lu Yunque had to step in, the matter wouldn’t be resolved so simply.

"Brother!"

Sheng Tian couldn’t stand the thought of admitting she’d lost to Yun Zijin—that country bumpkin from an orphanage!

"Miss Sheng comes from a noble background, so of course she can choose not to honor the bet. As a simple orphan, I certainly wouldn’t dare to object."

It wasn’t that Yun Zijin was dead set on getting the yacht, but Sheng Tian’s attitude had thoroughly annoyed her.

So today, whether Sheng Tian liked it or not, Yun Zijin was taking that yacht.

"Of course she’ll honor the bet. I’ll have someone draw up the transfer agreement and send it over right now."

Sheng Hao, afraid Yun Zijin might say something even more inflammatory, quickly made the decision for his sister.

He was the one who had bought the yacht in the first place, and now Sheng Tian had gambled it away. Regardless of his sister’s feelings, as the one who paid for it, Sheng Hao had every right to transfer it directly to Yun Zijin.

With Sheng Hao intervening, Sheng Tian had no choice but to concede, however unwillingly. The glare she shot Yun Zijin, however, grew even more malicious.

Yun Zijin had never paid Sheng Tian’s animosity any mind. Her attention, however, was drawn to the other girl who had been standing by like she was invisible.

Yun Zijin glanced at her but said nothing, simply picking up a glass of fresh-squeezed juice from the low table and taking a delicate sip.

"Well... it’s getting late. I’ll go tell the kitchen to get dinner ready."

It was almost 6 p.m., and Fu Ze was using dinner as an excuse to try and diffuse the tension.

No one objected, so Fu Ze eagerly took on the task and went to arrange the evening’s meal.

"There are too many mosquitoes out here. Let’s go talk inside."

Mosquitoes were numerous by the lake, and even repellent wasn’t very effective. Lu Yunque had already spotted two red welts from bites on Yun Zijin’s arm.

The others agreed. Sheng Tian, sulking, trailed at the very edge of the group with a long face.

Fu Li walked up beside Sheng Tian. "Still upset?"

Fu Li and Sheng Tian had been as close as sisters since childhood.

Despite their vastly different personalities, their relationship had always been strong.

During the fishing competition between Sheng Tian and Yun Zijin, Fu Li had remained in the background, not saying a single word and silently observing Yun Zijin the entire time.

Now that it was all over, she reappeared.

"If someone won the birthday gift your brother gave you, would you be in a good mood?"

Sheng Tian’s face was a mask of grievance.

"Don’t be upset. The worst that can happen is you find a chance to win the yacht back from her next time.

You’ve learned plenty of skills growing up. Surely there’s something you can beat her at."

’She couldn’t beat her at fishing, but when it came to other talents,’ Fu Li thought, ’Sheng Tian definitely wouldn’t lose to Yun Zijin.’
