Chapter 352: Chapter 352: Daily Side Story

After Jiang Cheng returned from the U.S., she plunged into busyness.

At the pharmaceutical company in S City, Jiang Cheng was so busy that she lost track of time, working day and night due to the time difference with foreign countries, with chaotic meal times.

At three in the morning on this particular day, Jiang Cheng had just finished a phone meeting with the U.S. and walked out of the office, her face gray and clutching her slightly aching stomach.

With her head down, feeling a bit dizzy, Jiang Cheng leaned against the wall. Her brain momentarily froze, and she slowly slid down the wall.

"Jiang Cheng!"

A voice full of concern came from afar and neared. Jiang Cheng struggled to open her eyes and smiled at the blurry figure.

"Shen Que."

Just from the shadow, she could tell it was him.

Shen Que was frightened to death.

He had received a call from Sun Aiguo, saying Jiang Cheng had been working tirelessly, day and night, recently.

Sun Aiguo had been accompanying her, but the intense workload made him accidentally fall ill, which meant Jiang Cheng had no competent secretary by her side.

Sun Aiguo immediately informed Shen Que that only he could make Jiang Cheng eat properly at this time.

Shen Que promptly arranged the company affairs and drove to S City himself.

Arriving under the cover of night, Shen Que headed straight to the office and saw Jiang Cheng sliding down the wall as soon as he got upstairs.

The tall figure completely enveloped Jiang Cheng.

Jiang Cheng felt a swirl, and she was lifted horizontally by Shen Que.

His chest was warm and solid, with a faint cedar fragrance from the incense she had bought.

Jiang Cheng, like an obedient kitten, nestled her face against Shen Que’s chest, listening to his strong heartbeat.

Shen Que tenderly lowered his head, his forehead resting on Jiang Cheng’s, slightly hot, with a low fever.

"You’re running a fever."

"Am I?"

Jiang Cheng murmured unconsciously, "I don’t feel a headache, just lack energy, and I didn’t eat dinner."

Upon hearing this, Shen Que’s eyes flashed with anger, but looking at Jiang Cheng leaning against him, he couldn’t bear to say anything.

"Close your eyes and rest for a while."

"Okay."

Jiang Cheng responded softly, and Shen Que carried her, steadily walking downstairs and getting in the car.

He placed Jiang Cheng in the back seat, covered her with a small blanket, gently closed the car door, and drove toward their home in S City.

Half an hour later, Shen Que parked the car steadily, drove into the courtyard, but didn’t turn off the engine.

He first got out to open the house door, tidied up inside, then returned to the yard to carry Jiang Cheng out of the car.

Jiang Cheng was exhausted and felt completely relaxed beside Shen Que, falling into a deep sleep.

Shen Que carried Jiang Cheng inside, took off her shoes, socks, and coat, covered her with a quilt, and let her sleep.

After settling her, Shen Que went out to contact a doctor. After getting in touch, he started boiling water to wipe Jiang Cheng’s sweat.

The doctor arrived soon.

Jiang Cheng was diagnosed with a gastrointestinal cold. She needed to rest well for two days and avoid oily and cold foods. After sending the doctor off, Shen Que started to make medicine and porridge.

At six in the morning, the sunlight outside hadn’t fully spread inside.

Jiang Cheng was already awake, with a vague memory of Shen Que’s arrival yesterday.

A fair hand protruded from the quilt, feeling blindly toward the other side of the bed.

"Hmm?"

No one?

Shen Que walked in and saw this scene, chuckling in exasperation, "So you remember I came, not too foolish from the fever."

Upon hearing Shen Que’s voice, Jiang Cheng immediately opened her eyes, showing a silly smile.

"Even if I’m silly, I’ll cling to you."

Shen Que, who was initially a bit angry at Jiang Cheng for disregarding her health, was instantly pacified by her.

He sat on the chair by the bed with a bowl of white porridge, placed the bowl down, and ran his rough palm over Jiang Cheng’s forehead.

"No more fever."

"Do you feel uncomfortable?"

Jiang Cheng, with a noticeably pale face, affectionately pressed her cheek into Shen Que’s palm and rubbed it.

"With you here, I’m not uncomfortable."

Shen Que really wanted to withdraw his hand, but facing Jiang Cheng’s pitiful gaze, he just couldn’t.

"Now you know how to coax me, but what were you thinking when you were neglecting your health?"

Shen Que made an effort to keep a straight face, determined to teach Jiang Cheng a lesson.

Jiang Cheng blinked.

"I was thinking of you, thinking if my Shen Que were here, how could I forget to eat?"

Shen Que’s stern expression immediately melted.

This kind of twisted logic, only Jiang Cheng could express so righteously.

"So, it’s my fault you got sick?"

Jiang Cheng shook her head, holding Shen Que’s wrist with both hands, her eyes sincere.

"Of course not, I’m just saying whether I’m sick or not, I still think of you the most."

Shen Que: "..."

He figured he was done for this lifetime!

Jiang Cheng’s words could coax even a straight man into a romantic mood.

Not to mention, Shen Que was already romantically inclined.

Shen Que’s plan to lecture Jiang Cheng was utterly shattered.

Jiang Cheng smiled smugly, but she humbly admitted her mistake and promised to eat on time from now on.

What else could Shen Que say?

Of course, nothing at all.

Shen Que stayed, taking care of Jiang Cheng for two days.

After two days, Shen Que had other matters to attend to, and Jiang Cheng promised to take care of herself, saying she’d go home and rest after this busy period.

After sending Shen Que away, Jiang Cheng stayed in S City for another month.

During this time, Shen Que visited three times, staying one to two days each time.

They talked on the phone every day, and Jiang Cheng indeed took good care of herself.

When everything in S City was on track, Jiang Cheng returned to Beijing, waved her hand in grand gesture, and prepared to be a hands-off manager.

She took half a month to delegate all matters, giving the factory managers significant decision-making power.

The headquarters in Beijing operated under centralized management, with every employee being her confidant.

After a round of arrangements, Jiang Cheng managed to stay away from the company for a month, and it still ran smoothly.

She occasionally checked in, apart from that, enjoying a perfect semi-retirement.

Half a month later, Jiang Cheng finally ended this hectic phase and began to truly relax at home.

On the first day of rest, Jiang Cheng thoroughly enjoyed herself.

She woke up naturally without an alarm, lounged lazily on bed for a few minutes before getting up.

After waking up, she worked out, ate, and took a leisurely stroll.

By the time she finished everything, it was only eight o’clock.

Determined to rest, Jiang Cheng resolutely refrained from going to the office. Yet, not going made her feel like there was a surplus of time in a day.

So much so, she didn’t know what to do.

When Grandma Shen returned from her walk, she saw Jiang Cheng sitting at the door, fanning herself as she gazed upwards, with no apparent focus.

Grandma Shen approached and glanced upward from Jiang Cheng’s perspective.

"No planes up there, what are you looking at!"

Jiang Cheng gave Grandma Shen a cheeky grin, shifted up a bit, and asked, "Auntie, where are you going? Can I tag along?"

Grandma Shen: Could she refuse?
