The instructors handed them all a book with the words ’Three Origins Technique’. After handing the book to every child, the head instructor ordered them to stand in lines. He then said, "The Three Origins Technique is a basic foundation building internal energy technique that is widely used because of the mild and neutral inner qi that one gathers when they cultivate this technique.
One can easily transition into a stronger technique when they obtain one without losing much inner qi. Even I started with this technique. Although it’s just a technique for beginners, it’s still something that you wouldn’t have been able to obtain if not for the Cult’s grace."
Then he went on about the Divine Demonic Cult, and they were the strongest faction in all of Murim. Technically speaking though, he wasn’t wrong. The Cult had invaded the mainland many times. Although it never succeeded, every time it took the combined might of the Empire, the Righteous Alliance, and the Iron Blood Alliance to defeat them.

It wasn’t even a defeat, if one really thought about it. These combined forces only forced the Cult to retreat so...Anyway, the head instructor finally started talking about something valuable. He said, "I will be explaining the technique once every week, so listen carefully. Before that let me explain the process. This technique, and most techniques that you come across in the future, will be divided into two parts.
Breathing and Circulation. Before moving onto Circulation, you will have to learn the Breathing part. This refers to the process in which you sense and breathe the natural energy in the air. Once you are able to do that, you will carefully circulate that energy inside your body. We’ll talk about the further steps when you’re able to do this. Now moving on to the Three Origins Technique-
In the beginning, there was one Universe. The Universe was divided into two, Yin and Yang. The interaction between Yin and Yang created Heaven, Earth, and Man. And Heaven, Earth, and Man created the myriad things that exist today. The human body is a Universe in itself, holding countless mysteries. Gather the Three Origins and a universe will be born in the body..."
Zeke carefully listened to the explanation. Because according to the law of cultivation, these common techniques always hide unknown secrets.When the lesson was done, he opened the book and started carefully reading it. Even if it was just a technique for beginners, he could upgrade it with the plethora of techniques he had in his mind. Once he was done, he closed the book and sat cross legged. He then tried to sense the natural energy of the world. He was alredy used to meditating and before he knew it, he had woken up. He saw that all the children were already practicing Mountain.

Zeke thought about it and said nothing. He just looked at the head instructor as if he was waiting for something. The head instructor realized what was happening and said, "You may speak freely."
Zeke nodded and said, "Some, Sir. I should be able to sense natural energy in 2-3 days at most, Sir."
The head instructor was really shocked and said, "You do realize the consequences of biting more than you can chew, right? I’m giving you a chance to take that statement back. It’s good that you’re confident but don’t become arrogant. Do not overestimate yourself. That’ll get you killed in Jianghu. That is, if you’re able to survive us."
Zeke said, "I’m sure that I can do it, Sir."
The head instructor said, "Then you better prepare yourself. If you can’t achieve what you just told me, then you will bear the consequences."
Zeke replied, "Yes Sir."
Then he proceeded to train in Mountain.
He spent the majority of the night scouring the Three Origins Technique. He slept for a while and then he did his daily exercise and practiced his martial arts. He had his meal and then he started meditating. The head instructor was staring at him. He was thinking about what punishment he should give Zeke, if he wasn’t able to do as he said. He wanted to set an example for the others. He didn’t think that it was possible to sense natural energy in just three days, even if it was...
Zeke, on the other hand, didn’t know what was going on in the instructor’s head. Even if he did, he wouldn’t care. He just focused on sensing the natural energy. After reading the technique over and over again, he had realized one thing. This technique heavily emphasized on the natural flow of things. So, instead of actively sensing the natural energy, he followed the breathing and just meditated. As he was meditating, the head instructor noticed something.
Although Zeke was still following the breathing pattern, his breath was becoming longer and deeper with each passing moment. He signaled to the other instructors and they stopped training the other children. They even gave them the order to remain absolutely silent. Half a day passed and it was now nighttime. It was as if Zeke had turned into a statue. His breath was so slow that it looked like he wasn’t breathing at all.
The instructors were now sure that Zeke had fallen into deep meditation, a state that couldn’t be sought and only found. They were happy because when news of this reached the higher ups, they would surely be rewarded. They were also envious. Deep meditation could offer them a path forward in cultivation. Another 12 hours passed and Zeke’s breath started returning to it’s normal pace.
He opened his eyes, and discovered that he could sense natural energy now. But before he could revel in the feeling, his stomach grumbled. He saw that everyone was looking at him. The head instructor looked at him and asked, "Have you succeeded in sensing natural energy?"
Zeke replied, "Yes Sir."
The head instructor said, "Good. Now, get used to circulating it through your meridians. In the meantime, read this book. Do not practice it. Just read it."
He handed him a red book. The name ’Hell Lotus Manual’ was written on it. Below that, a beautiful black lotus was drawn.
He handed him another book. This book was completely black in color. The title, ’Seven Emotions Six Desires Mara Demon Visualisation’ was written in blood red ink on the cover. Maybe it was real blood, who knows? The head instructor handed him the book with trembling hands. He said, "Under any circumstances, do not open this book until I tell you to."
Zeke already knew what he had to do if wanted to break through and become a Third Rate Warrior. But something inside him told him that he should wait. He read the booklet and the terrifying guess that he had a year ago once again flashed in his mind. He still denied it. There was no way someone was that crazy. He refused to believe it.
His routine then changed. He would wake up, circulate natural energy, have a meal, practice Mountain, have a meal, and then he would read the Hell Lotus Manual. His booklet had all sorts of notes in it. They really helped him in understanding the technique.
While he was absorbing natural energy and circulating it inside his body, he realized that his body was permanently absorbing some of the natural energy that was circulating through him.
Usually, before one broke through to the level of a Third Rate Warrior, their body could absorb natural energy only temporarily. After some time, the natural energy inside their bodies would dissipate. He knew that his body had to have some limits, so he just circulated natural energy every day until his meridians hurt.
Two weeks passed like this. By this time, even the least talented children had sensed natural energy. As soon as the last child had succeeded, the instructors handed all the remaining children the ’Hell Lotus Manual’ and ’Seven Emotions Six Desires Mara Demon Visualisation’ as well. The next day, an old man came to the cavern. When the head instructor looked at him, he had immense respect in his eyes. The old man didn’t look special.
He was tall, had long gray hair and red eyes. They weren’t blood red like the children’s eyes. They were lighter in color, almost like the eyes of an albino. Following the instructors’ orders, all of the children sat down in lines according to their ranks. Surprisingly, the instructors also sat down. Then the old man began speaking.
