As soon as Zeke entered the gate, he fell asleep. When he woke up, he realized that he was in a dark place. He suddenly felt an intense headache and had some more memories in his head. freēwebnovel.com
They belonged to his new body. His name was Akma-jasik.
[The people in this world got no chill. They literally named a six year old orphan, ’Demon Spawn’]
These memories were fragmented and felt incomplete. He suddenly felt a wet sensation on his forehead. It felt thick. He touched it and suddenly felt a sting. He realised that it was blood. Which explained the fragmented memories.
He walked in one direction until he hit a wall. It felt like a rough stone wall, almost like he was in a cave. Just then, he heard the sound of something sliding. He walked towards the place where he had heard the noise and tripped. He fell head first towards the ground. He raised his head from the ground with great difficulty.
He suddenly smelled something good and his stomach grumbled. Although he couldn’t see anything due to the darkness, he guessed that it was food. With all that was happening, he deduced that he was most likely an orphan who was kidnapped by some shady organisation.
All things considered, nobody would care if a few orphans without any background disappeared. He groped around carefully, fearing that he would knock over the food. Eventually, he was able to grab what felt like a bowl. He brought it close to his nose. It smelled like chicken soup.
He drank the soup and realised that it had a weird bitter taste. The bowl also had a chicken leg piece in it. He ate the leg piece and kept the bone. He had a feeling that it was gonna be a big help. He kept the bowl back to where he had picked it up from.
He had no intentions of escaping here. He knew that he was brought into this body for a reason, that it had something to do with the mission. Just as he was thinking about what to do, his stomach grumbled once again. He was still hungry.
He took the bone and started chewing on it. Although it wouldn’t satiate his hunger, it would keep him occupied. He sat with the bone in his mouth and started thinking. What could his mission be? He already had a clue about the world he was in after he got his memories but he still wasn’t sure.
But if he was right, then he was in danger. Grave danger. After about an hour, he heard another sliding sound. He walked towards it and found that a large pot had been placed there.
He picked it up and found that it was filled with water. He also noticed that the bowl was still there. He filled the bowl with some water and slightly moved the bowl around so that any leftover soup would mix with the water.
Then he drank the water. After that, he once again poured some water into the bowl. Then, he tore off a piece of his shirt and dipped it in the water. He used the soaked cloth to clean the wound on his head.
After he was done cleaning, he chucked the blood soaked cloth in a random direction. He wanted to use it’s smell to attract some small critters. He then tore off a long strip of cloth from his shirt and wrapped it around the wound on his head and started meditating. As a scientist, he could be very patient.
A week passed and he noticed many things. First, three meals, a bowl of chicken soup with a leg piece, and a pot of water were served every day. This week, he did nothing but focus on his recovery.
Then, he fell into a routine. He would sleep very lightly for some time. After waking up, he did a light workout. Then he had his first meal of the day. He always collected the bones from the leg pieces. He kept some bones to chew on and ground the rest into small bone knives and needles.
In the beginning, he was only chewing the bones to keep himself occupied during his recovery but then he realised that his teeth were becoming sharper and stronger. Although they were only his milk teeth, he didn’t care. Anyways, after the grinding, he would have his second meal of the day.
Then, he trained his flexibility. Because of the True Supreme Exercise and his knowledge of the human anatomy, he knew just the amount of training that would push him to his limits without negatively affecting his developing body.
Occasionally, he would catch some insects such as spiders, centipedes, and scorpions, and animals like rats and snakes. He couldn’t tell where they were coming from but he assumed that there had to be some sort of ventilation here, otherwise he would have suffocated a long time ago.
With his bone knives, he would skin the rats and the snakes and eat them raw. He would crush each insect separately and eat the resulting paste one small bite at a time. Due to a lack of clear vision, he was unable to separate the venom and had no other choice but to do it this way.
It was incredibly dangerous of him to do so. He got food poisoning multiple times and nearly died from the snake venom. The only reason he was still alive was because he was very careful with the snake venom, only ingesting small amounts.
Whenever he got used to it, he would increase the dosage slightly. Like this, he was slowly building up poison immunity. Then, he would have his final meal of the day and meditate for a while. After that, he would sleep. He kept track of the days with the meals.
Soon, four months passed.
He had grown used to the dark. He was even able to see better in the dark. This hermit lifestyle had considerably calmed Zeke or Akma-Jasik down. He hadn’t realised but the pressure of it all had taken its toll on his mind. And without the interference of his bloodline, he was able to regulate his emotions much better.
This was also how he discovered a fatal flaw in the Neo-Nephilim bloodline. It deeply influenced him. He decided that he would address this issue if he was able to return. One day, he noticed a difference.
Instead of three meals, he was now served two larger meals a day. Instead of a bowl of chicken soup with one leg piece, he now got a bowl of thick beef congee with a leg piece. The congee also had that strange bitter taste. It was subtle but, he could tell that it wasn’t something that was supposed to be in food.
Another month passed, and the poison from the snakes, centipedes, spiders, scorpions and the like had no effect on him. One thing he noticed, was that he was only getting a single breed of the critters. Every snake had black scales and their eyes were yellow with a hint of red.
The scorpions were also black and had a single red line that divided their bodies into two halves on their bodies. The rats were dark grey with dirty yellow spots on them. The spiders, on the other hand, could be considered pretty with dark purple bodies and pink stripes. The centipedes were dark brown without any other features.
When Zeke realised that he had become immune to the venom from these creatures, he made a plan. A crazy plan.
[Even the hermit lifestyle couldn’t curb my madness. At this moment, a poem comes to my mind.
In the vast expanse of my mind’s terrain,
Madness lurks, a turbulent domain.
Like the ocean’s depths, it ebbs and flows,
A tranquil surface masking chaotic throes.]
For his plan, Zeke had to capture 5 critters of every kind and six pots. It took him two weeks to capture them. He put the critters in five different pots. Each pot had five of one kind of critter. Then, he slit his palm and poured some of his blood into each pot.
Finally, he tied the pot lids to the pots with snake skins and sealed them with mud from the ground. He also made some holes in the lid with the bone needles for ventilation. These pots would remain sealed for a month and a half. During this time, he poured some blood into the pots through the holes every day.
One and a half months later,
Zeke opened the pots. During these one and a half months, these critters survived in extreme conditions. didn’t have a single morsel of food and went crazy with hunger. His blood only agitated them more, causing them to devour each other. In the end, only one critter was left in each pot.
These survivors had more potent venom and were much more dangerous. It took him another month to gain immunity to their venom as well. Now, it was time for the main event. Just like he had previously done, he once again sealed the critters in a pot.
Only, this time they were not facing others of the same kind. This pot remained sealed for a month. The only survivor was the scorpion but its appearance had changed drastically. First, its size had shrunk by almost half. Its body was still black. The red line on its body had somehow turned into pink. It also had yellow spots all over its body.
Of the six pairs of eyes that it had, the main pair had turned purple, while the five lateral pairs had turned blood red. Its stinger was a mix of red, purple and brown. It looked like an exotic arachnid.
[Scorpions have two eyes on top and two to five lateral eyes along each side (as many as five pairs).]
Zeke used the flat side of his bone knife and struck the scorpion’s head stunning the creature. He used two bone needles as chopsticks and picked it up. And then, he swallowed it.
