Chapter 132: Chapter 126: Abnormal

Silence fell over the crowd.

"As a Specialist, I have the privilege of forming a squad consisting of four Private First Class soldiers and two Privates. I’ve already chosen the first four, but I still need two Privates. Interested and qualified cadets may remain here after the orientation ends."

The murmurs grew louder. Then, Zeke smirked.

"Now, I’d like to end this speech here, but I’m sure my brother would chew my ear off if I didn’t add something more." He paused. "All of us are here because we made a choice—to fight. To fight for our home. For our families. For ourselves. So let’s show these bastards, who have been after our planet, what hell truly looks like."

The hall fell into complete silence.

Everyone—cadets, instructors, even Dean Nico—was stunned.

What in hell’s name just happened?

Well, everyone except Cass.

No, Cass was far too busy trying to find a hole he could bury himself in.

Zeke walked over to Cass and stood beside him, a smug look on his face.

Cass turned to him sharply, disbelief flashing in his eyes. ’What the fuck was that?’

Zeke raised an eyebrow. ’What do you mean?’

Cass let out an exasperated sigh, running a hand through his hair. ’Your speech! I thought you had prepared something.’

’I did prepare something,’ Zeke replied casually. ’And you just heard it.’

Cass scoffed. ’Oh, please. That was no speech. Where was the charm? The gravitas? That was a joke.’

Zeke smirked. ’On the contrary, it was perfect.’ He folded his arms and leaned slightly toward Cass. ’You need to understand something—we don’t need charm or gravitas. Our identities do that for us. We have just the right amount of mystery. Couple that with our appearance and strength, and we don’t need anything more.’ He tilted his head slightly, his smirk widening. ’You’ll see what I mean.’

Cass wasn’t convinced. ’Yeah, we don’t need anything more to alienate ourselves. We’ve already done enough of that.’ His eyes scanned the cadets in the hall, and his expression darkened. ’Did you see how the ones who made it to the finals were looking at us?’

Zeke shrugged. ’No.’

Cass clenched his jaw. ’They were looking at us like we were monsters.’

Zeke’s response was indifferent. ’And that matters because...?’

Cass narrowed his eyes. ’Because we’re supposed to spend the next six years of our lives with them. Longer if they end up in the military with us.’

Zeke chuckled, shaking his head. ’Six years? We don’t have that much time to waste. I’ve got plans for us. Big plans.’ His gaze was sharp, filled with something Cass couldn’t quite decipher. ’You’ll understand everything in due time. Right now, we have more important things to do.’ ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

He gestured toward the ground. Or rather, the almost empty ground.

Cass followed his gaze and realized the orientation had already moved on to the next phase while they were arguing. Now, only the Privates who were interested in joining Zeke’s squad remained.

Cass sighed and muttered, ’Whatever you say.’

The boys turned their attention to the cadets, giving them a quick once-over. Cass was unimpressed.

’They don’t seem that interesting,’ he commented through their link.

’They’re the lowest rung of the Academy,’ Zeke replied. ’What more were you expecting?’

Cass frowned. ’I don’t know. Something.’

Their gazes swept over the cadets again. They saw a mix of emotions—respect, fear, ambition. And then... something else.

Reverence.

Wait. Reverence?

A strange sensation crawled up their spines, and instinctively, Mana and Faith surged into their eyes. They inhaled sharply as their vision shifted, revealing something they hadn’t expected. An incredible Faith Stream. freёweɓnovel.com

One cadet stood out.

He had a face that was barely above average, with plain black hair, but his eyes—his eyes were different. They were deep black whirlpools, threatening to swallow everything.

The boys stiffened.

"What the fuck??!!!"

They spoke in unison, their voices unintentionally loud.

The cadets in front of them exchanged uneasy glances, clearly confused by their reaction.

Zeke cleared his throat and forced a neutral expression. "Alright, we’ll contact you guys later on. You can join the others."

The cadets hesitated but eventually responded, "Yes, Sir."

One by one, they turned and walked away—except for one.

Cass narrowed his eyes at the cadet with the black whirlpool eyes and spoke before he could leave. "You..."

His gaze dropped to the uniform, reading the name stitched onto it.

"... Damon Voidsworn, you stay."

A moment of silence stretched between them before Cass spoke through their link. ’With this amount of Faith, he has to be a Fanatic.’

Zeke, however, shook his head. ’Nope. He’s a Saint. There’s no doubt about it.’

A rare flicker of uncertainty crossed his face. ’The real question is, why haven’t we been able to sense him until now?’

Cass was about to respond when he noticed Zeke’s expression shift—his usual confidence replaced by something sharper, more alert.

Before Cass could ask what was wrong, Zeke’s voice came through their link, urgent and commanding.

’Quick, channel Life attributed mana into your eyes.’

Cass hesitated for only a second before obeying.

As soon as he did, his breath hitched.

His stomach twisted.

’What the fuck is he?’

The words left his mouth before he could stop them.

The boys continued to stare at Damon, their gazes now filled with something they weren’t used to—genuine bewilderment.

Damon, on the other hand, had started sweating.

He was nervous. And for good reason.

Because what stood before them was not just a boy.

No, the thing in front of them should not be alive.

With Life attributed mana enhancing their vision, the truth became horrifyingly clear.

His Vessels—the very core of his being, his pathways of energy—had been ripped apart and then stitched back together.

Crude. Haphazard. Impossible.

Yet, somehow, he was standing. Breathing. Functioning as if nothing were wrong.

Cass swallowed hard. ’This doesn’t make sense.’

Zeke’s eyes darkened. ’No. It doesn’t.’

But one thing was certain.

Damon was not normal.
