Chapter 122: Chapter 116: The Truth

Ramses asked, "Are you sure that they can win? What gives you so much confidence? Why do you trust them so much?"

Dean smiled and said, "I trained them myself, and even I don’t know the true extent of their abilities. As for trust... well, they are family. Is that reason good enough? You trust your families, don’t you? Even with all the palace politics that go on. So why can’t I trust my nephews?"

The four of them were speechless. They had to admit, Dean’s words made sense—at least on paper. But things were rarely that simple. There had to be something, something that he still wasn’t telling them. The true reason behind his trust.

Dean asked, "So, are we in agreement? No matter what happens tomorrow, we will not intervene."

Bjorn asked, "Even if your boys lose?"

Dean replied, "Even though I know that they won’t lose, I give you my word that I won’t intervene as long as you guys don’t. No matter what happens."

Dean’s confidence made them even more curious. Just what did he see in those boys to trust them that much? How strong were they, really, that he was sure they would wipe the floor with their descendants?

There was an awkward silence for a painfully slow minute.

Dean coughed and said, "So... how have you guys been?"

All he got in reply was a few curses like, "Fuck you, man." Even Ramses was no exception.

Then Diana said, "Just send us back home, will you?"

Dean nodded and opened four portals. The four of them stepped through them. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

As soon as they were back in their palaces, they used everything they had to find out everything about the boys. And they found something, alright.

The likes of Nico and Quinn couldn’t even fathom the vastness of their information networks. They were able to find information about the boys in a matter of minutes—information that Nico couldn’t find even after investing days.

They uncovered the boys’ complete history: Zeke’s intellect, Cass’s talent as a warrior, the death of their parents, Katherine and Alexi, when Leonel moved in with them, and even the Angels and Demons that they had in their labs. Although they couldn’t find out why, they knew that it was an important clue.

So they dug deeper. But it was useless. The boys had disappeared from the face of the Earth after they had awakened. It was very weird. The only thing they could find about them was that they were related to Aurevion in some way.

But even that didn’t make sense. Their parents were Neo-Humans. So the sudden bloodline atavism felt off. So they pushed in the only direction that was left: their parents. They began tracing their genealogical records. It wasn’t that difficult of a thing to do for people with their authority.

That’s when they discovered that the boys were connected to Project Halfblood. Things had taken a worrisome turn—especially with the Angels and Demons that they had in their labs. Plus, the plethora of new potions that Neo-Nephilim Pharmaceuticals seemed to never run out of.

The final nail in the coffin was the physical appearance of the Neo-Nephilims. It resembled both Angels and Demons a bit too much. They all came to the same conclusion: whatever stories Dean had been telling them about the lost tribe were bullshit.

The Neo-Nephilims, this new, extremely talented race that seemed to have spawned out of nowhere, clearly had relations with the Angels and Demons.

The fastest to conclude this was, as expected, Ramses. He muttered, "Dean, what are you thinking?"

Then he sighed and took out a silver pearl before crushing it. Soon, a portal appeared in front of him. He stepped through and found himself in a different place this time. It was a room. A luxurious one.

Dean asked, "Back so soon? What happened?"

Ramses didn’t reply, as if he was waiting for something. And sure enough, Dean’s expression soon changed.

Dean asked, "What’s going on? First you, and now Chandra? You guys do realize that I gave you those pearls for emergencies and emergencies only?"

Before he could open a portal, he received another signal of sorts. Diana had crushed her pearl as well. And then Bjorn. He opened three more portals, and the Four Emperors had gathered once again.

Dean felt that something was wrong. He had a bad feeling, and he rarely had those, so he asked, "Hey, guys. What brings you here?"

Ramses asked, "Dean, I’ll ask this straight. How are the Neo-Nephilims related to Angels and Demons?"

Dean paused for a split second before replying, "What do you mean? The Neo-Nephilims are a tribe—"

Bjorn cut him off and said, "Don’t give us that bullshit again."

His tone was eerily calm. It was like the calm before a mighty storm.

Diana said, "Dean, you better not lie to us."

Dean asked, "Or what?"

Chandra replied, "Or you won’t like the consequences."

Dean asked, "Oh, really?"

The four of them didn’t say anything, but Dean understood what they meant.

Ramses said, "Just tell us the truth."

Unexpectedly, Dean began laughing.

The Four Emperors glanced at each other. What was going on?

Chandra asked, "Um... Dean? Why are you laughing?"

Dean wiped a tear from the corner of his eye and replied, "I’m laughing at the joke."

Bjorn asked, "What joke?"

Dean asked back, "You don’t know?"

Chandra replied, "No...?"

Dean stopped laughing and said in an eerie tone, "Oh, I thought you understood. After all, you guys are the ones treating me as a joke."

As soon as he said this, the four of them felt a crushing pressure radiating from Dean.

Ramses tried to speak, but Dean cut him off. "It seems that you guys have forgotten who I am just because we’re friends. Well, as a good friend, I should help you remember. So that next time, you’ll remember that I am the Supreme Commander of the Earth Federation before daring to question me like this."

Ramses gritted his teeth and said, "We just want the truth."
