Chapter 18: Minho

The old woman stared at Henry for a long moment before narrowing her eyes suspiciously.

"Fine," she said. "Since you’re already married, when are you bringing my granddaughter-in-law here?"

"Later," Henry replied immediately.

The old woman frowned in disapproval "Later, when?"

"Later."

"Next week?"

"Later, grams," he said tiredly.

"Tomorrow?" The old man, Michael, asked instead.

"Later," still insisted.

"Tonight?"

Henry looked at the old woman in disbelief. The old man quietly grabbed another grape and continued watching the battle unfold.

Finally, Henry sighed. "Grandmother, she’s busy."

The old woman’s expression immediately changed. "Busy?"

The old man nodded thoughtfully. "That’s good."

His wife agreed too. "Very good. "A busy woman means she has her own life."

"Exactly," the old man added. "Unlike some ladies who follow their husbands around twenty-four hours a day."

The old woman nodded at Henry."You chose well."

Henry didn’t know whether to feel relieved or annoyed. The old woman carefully folded the marriage certificate and placed it against her chest like treasure.

"At least now people will stop saying our grandson is married to his company."

The old man nodded seriously. "The shareholders will be happy with this news, too."

"They always complain." Then they faced each other.

"They think he’s too cold."

"He is too cold."

Henry looked at both of them. The old couple had ignored him, forgotten their acting roles.

Then the old woman’s eyes suddenly sparkled."Speaking of marriage..."

Henry immediately sensed danger, and he prepared to leave immediately.

"Shouldn’t we throw a celebration party?" The old woman clapped excitedly.

Henry stood up immediately. "No."

The old woman froze.

"What do you mean, no?" the old woman asked.

"No party."

"Why?"

"I hate parties." Henry scoffed in frustration.

The old woman looked offended. "You hate happiness, too?"

Henry rubbed his forehead."Grandmother...."

"Fine!" She crossed her arms dramatically."No party for now," Then she continued. "We’ll only invite five hundred guests to celebrate the good news."

Joshua’s eyes widened "Five hundred?"

The old man nodded proudly. "That’s already reduced."

Henry suddenly understood why his grandfather never won arguments.

The old woman began counting on her fingers."The governors. The business partners. The media. The celebrities. The distant relatives should be there! Then later we can add the stranger when you are ready to do party"

Henry turned around "I’m leaving."

The old woman pointed at him."You always leave whenever family topics come up."

Henry adjusted his suit jacket and headed toward the door. Just as he reached it, the old woman suddenly called out again.

"Henry."

He paused.

"What?"

"Did you tell your younger siblings?"

Henry sighed. Of course, she would remember that. The woman had a memory sharper than most detectives. "No."

"Why?"

"I’ve been busy." The wedding isn’t even up to a day!

The old woman gasped dramatically. "Busy getting married?"

The old man laughed again.

Henry seriously wondered if hospitals allowed patients to be this energetic. Before he could answer, one of his bodyguards opened the ward door.

A tall man entered. Immediately, several nurses outside peeked through the glass window. Because the newcomer looked frighteningly similar to him.

Same sharp features, cold eyes and commanding aura. The only difference was that the person was older.

The resemblance was impossible to miss. Most people meeting them together would assume they were brothers.

Instead... The man was Henry’s father."You’re here, son," the old woman said.

Mr Michaelson nodded. Then his gaze landed directly on Henry. The first thing he noticed was the wedding ring on his hand.

His eyes paused there briefly for most people to notice. Unfortunately for Henry... His father was exactly the kind of man who noticed everything.

After all, Henry had inherited most of his personality from him. "I heard you got married."

Henry nodded. His father glanced at the ring once more. Then, surprisingly, he smirked. "Good."

The old woman nearly fainted. "Did you hear that?"

The old man looked equally shocked. "He said good."

His wife pointed dramatically. "Write today’s date down."

"Don’t forget your mother’s anniversary next week."

Henry nodded and checked his wrist watch. The man gave a satisfied nod.

Neither of them spoke much. A few seconds later, Henry turned and left the room with his guards.

The moment the hospital doors closed behind him, he finally breathed properly.

Not long after, his phone rang. Henry looked at the screen. His expression immediately darkened. He already regretted answering.

The moment the call connected. Before he could speak, an extremely loud voice exploded from the other side.

"CONGRATULATIONS!"

Henry pulled the phone away from his ear instantly.

"I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!" The voice continued laughing. "Hahahaha!"

People walking past turned to look at him in confusion.

Henry looked annoyed already, and the man kept talking. "This nonchalant, metallic-tongued, emotionless statue has finally tricked another innocent woman into marriage!"

Henry pinched the bridge of his nose. The caller’s name was Kang Minho.

Unfortunately... One of his closest friends. And the most annoying human being alive.

Minho wasn’t finished."Tell me honestly. Was she kidnapped?"

Henry frowned. The man doesn’t even believe he married like a normal human being.

"Threatened or bribed?" Then he gasped. " You blackmailed?"

Henry entered his car and took another deep sigh. "You must have a lot of free time"

"Oh, my God." The man gasped dramatically. "You actually blackmailed her."

" Why would I blackmail her to marry me?"

"You definitely did. Tell me more! Did she cry or did you scare her?"

"..."

"YOU SCARED HER!"

Henry closed his eyes and unconsciously shook his head.

The driver looked straight ahead. Pretending not to hear anything. Not his first time experiencing it.

Minho burst into laughter again. "You don’t know how to flirt or to make a woman happy." Minho suddenly stopped laughing. "You probably proposed a business contract."

Henry looked out the window.

" I knew it, dude, when will you even change?" The laughter that followed nearly destroyed the phone speaker. "Poor woman!"

Henry’s eye twitched."Minho."

"Hmmm?"

"If you’re near my house..." freeωebnovēl.c૦m

Minho immediately laughed harder. "Hey, what?"

"I’ll bury you there."

Another round of laughter erupted. "I missed you, too, my friend." Then the call ended before Henry could threaten him again.

The car became quiet. Henry stared at the city outside the window. For the first time all day... His thoughts drifted toward Abigail.

Then he frowned. Because somehow...He could already imagine the trouble she would bring into his life.
