Chapter 14: Nik Company
Abigail stared at the paper for a long moment before finally unfolding it completely.
At first, she thought it would contain a few simple instructions.
But she was wrong.
At the top of the page, written in neat handwriting, were five bold words.
Marriage Contract Additional Rules.
Abigail immediately felt a headache coming. "Of course, he has crazy rules," she muttered.
Her eyes moved to the first one.
Rule One:
The husband and wife shall not appear together publicly unless required for family meetings or official events.
Abigail blinked in relief "Fine by me."
She honestly preferred it that way. The less she saw Draco, the better for her mental health. She moved to the second rule.
Rule Two:
The husband will frequently travel and may not return home for extended periods. The wife must not investigate, follow, or stalk him.
Abigail almost laughed. "Who wants to stalk you?"
She rolled her eyes dramatically. The man truly thought too highly of himself. As if she had nothing better to do than follow a masked tyrant around the country. The third rule made her pause.
Rule Three:
The wife shall not question the husband regarding any woman seen around him.
Abigail snorted then laughed."Haaa..."
She leaned back against her chair. "I get it now." The more she thought about it, the more ridiculous it sounded. "He’s either a complete jerk or too arrogant to explain himself to anyone."
Either way, she wasn’t interested. If he wanted ten girlfriends, twenty girlfriends, or an entire football team of girlfriends, that was his problem.
Not hers.
The fourth rule made her smile disappear immediately.
Rule Four:
The wife must fulfil her duties as a wife when requested. However, pregnancy is strictly prohibited during the contract period.
Abigail nearly dropped the paper. "What?!" Her face turned dark immediately. So she had to sacrifice her freedom, her time and nd apparently even sacrifice her body?
For what?
A business collaboration? She suddenly wanted to throw the contract into a volcano.
Then another horrifying thought struck her. Her eyes widened. The previous night flashed through her mind. The devil hadn’t even used protection.
Abigail immediately grabbed her pillow and buried her face inside it. "That lunatic!"
She groaned loudly. The more she thought about it, the more dangerous it seemed. The moment she left the house today, she would buy prevention pills immediately.
She wasn’t taking chances. After calming herself down, Abigail finally looked at the last rule.
Then she frowned.
Rule Five:
You are not permitted to be seen romantically involved with another man during this marriage. I do not share.
Abigail stared at it in confusion. The first four rules sounded cold and professional.
This one felt personal. Almost like someone had written it specifically while thinking about her.
"I do not share?" She read it again.
Then looked around the empty room. "What are you?"
A businessman?
A mafia boss?
A jealous boyfriend?
The sentence sounded less like a contract rule and more like a warning. Abigail suddenly felt uncomfortable. That man was becoming stranger by the day. At the bottom of the page was a phone number.
She assumed it belonged to Joshua. After all, he was always following Draco around. Yet when she looked carefully, another name was written beside it. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
Luna.
Abigail blinked. A woman?
That surprised her. For some reason, she had expected Draco’s personal assistant to be Joshua.
The poor man certainly looked overworked enough for the position. Curious, she immediately copied the number into her phone.
After a brief hesitation, she called.
The line connected quickly. "Good afternoon, Miss Abigail." A calm female voice answered.
Abigail almost sat upright. She actually answered? "You’re Luna?"
"Yes."
Interesting. Abigail chatted with her briefly before finally reaching the point. "I would like to revise one of the rules."
There was a short silence. "Which one?"
"The fourth one."
Another silence....
Then Luna sighed. "I’ll inform Mr Michaelson."
Abigail smiled triumphantly. "Thanks." The call ended shortly afterwards.
A second later, her phone vibrated. Confused, Abigail picked it up. A large notification appeared on the screen.
"Congratulations on our collaboration."
She froze, then jumped up immediately. "What?!"
Another notification appeared. Then another. Several emails and business updates.
News alerts. Company messages. Everything arrived at once. Abigail opened the first article and almost screamed.
HDM Group and Nik Corporation Officially Announce Strategic Collaboration.
She read it twice. Then she burst into laughter. "He signed it!"
The crazy man actually signed it. The collaboration was officially happening. Months of hard work and rejection. Months of chasing his company.
Success finally came her way. Abigail rushed into the bathroom before anyone could ruin her mood. For the first time since arriving at the Williams family mansion, she actually felt happy.
After showering, she dressed quickly and packed her work bag.
Enough of family drama and emotional disappointment. Enough wasting weekends chasing people who barely cared. It was time to focus on herself again.
She opened her bedroom door and headed downstairs. Halfway down the stairs, familiar voices drifted from the living room.
"Did you hear the news?"
Abigail stopped.
Mr Williams sounded frustrated."Nik Corporation actually secured a collaboration with HDM Group!
Mrs Williams sighed heavily. "I heard the company belongs to a woman."
Mr Williams nodded."Exactly." His voice carried obvious envy.
"Draco is known for rejecting almost everyone. For him to personally choose that company..." He shook his head. "The woman behind it can’t be simple."
Abigail bit her lip to stop herself from laughing. If only they knew....
Mrs Williams tossed her phone onto the sofa. "We should find a way to meet her."
Mr Williams immediately agreed. "Definitely."
Mrs Williams leaned forward thoughtfully. "Maybe Anna can become friends with her." She sounded excited already.
Anna is a celebrity. She knows many influential people. If they become close, perhaps it could benefit our company."
Mr Williams nodded slowly. The frustration on his face finally eased. "That’s actually not a bad idea."
Neither of them noticed Abigail standing on the staircase. Listening to their conversation!
